stand with your back to the running Monkey bodied / fish tailed mythical god/spirit statue ( Its not HANUMAN. I forget its correct name ) and you will see across the Mud/sewage effluent/ spilt Noodle Soup/ bomb cratered road draped in tangled broken cables, a Family Mart on yer left and Lovejoys is 20 paces past it. B)

    Brilliant !!

  2. You do not say if you are extending using the income pension letter only or a combination of money in the bank and the letter, unless I missed that. If using the pension letter only from the Embassy then no bank letter is needed ( my experience) and the rule. Nice to have one available if asked for though.

Also you did not mention the copies of your passport pages(signed).

    One photo 4cm x 6cm

    No medical cert is needed.

If you download the TM 7, fill it out and print it before you go there make sure the form is printed on one sheet of A4 paper front and back side as they will not accept two sheets.

LB53098 - Do you use Jomtien? I use income letter and have always had to provide bank letter -even though not required under the rules.

  3. Copy of last 2 pages of passbook

Copy of front page of passbook showing name ( if joint account copy of marriage certificate)

    Sign all copy pages.

    Telephone number on TM7 (front)

Do a reentry permit the next day when you pick up passport.

They told me bank letter good for one week ,but I suggest the nearer the better.

Make sure you update your passbook the same day as the letter is done ( even though you may have no transactions to add) and totals are the same.

  4. Why didn't they use the traffic lights from the railway road? lots of lights that will never work!

    Re-cycling doesn't pay?

They did turn the 'railway road' lights on - unfortunately people waitng at the quiet roads thought it stupid to wait at a red when there iwas no traffic - just crossed against the lights - many accidents- so the safest thing to do was turn them off.!! TIT

  5. I will try again. The British Embassy in Bangkok no longer issue Passports ( unless lost, stolen or damaged.)

Renewals are now processed in the new Regional Office in HK (Hong Kong)

All the information / instructions are on the British Embassy Bangkok website.

Make sure you read it carefully so you follow the correct instructions. The opener will probably be ''Applying for a passport in Thailand''

( even though the next page will start 'we no longer issue passports in Bangkok apart from blah, blah blah, etc.)

  6. You are not reading the correct instructions. On the Embassy website (Passports ) click applyiny in Thailand and that opens a page thats says Bangkok does not renew passports any longer( unless damaged stolen etc.) Then follow the instructions.

You only send a copy of your passport to HK

No you do not need your birth certificate.

Make sure you comply exactly with the photo requirements.

About 10 working days from reports I have read.

  7. Re-entry permits are used to keep alive your 'extensions' - you apply at the office who issued your extension. 1000 Baht single 3800 Baht for multi.

One of the experts (not me) will give you further advice I am sure.

They will need far more details of what you have in regards to visas etc.

If you are a 'newbie ' to Thailand and not just ThaVisa I think you may be confused as to what you actually need.

  8. Go North on Sukomvit till you get to route 36 signpost - go under the flyover and follow route36. Regents School - (very large red brick building) is a few kilos down this road.

Take the first U turn past the school ( be careful the sign is nearly hidden by bushes) Ist turning past the school is a small side road - turn left and follow the signs. (in English)

  9. The 65,000 Baht income route is based on your income.

The bank account would not come into it.

Exactly my point LB - In Jomtien you have to have a letter from bank showing balance ( up to date ) and the last two pages of the passbook and copy of the front page saying Mr and Mrs Blogs.

Not a requirement according to the rules but you will not pass GO without it.

  10. If under 1,600,000 a joint account should not be accepted for retirement regardless of who it is with and recent policy has been that no joint account is acceptable. For marriage it normally has been accepted but in last several years many places have not been accepting it from reports here. As marriage accounts are joint property they should never be considered as yours. A lot of people have found that out the hard way. And not just in Thailand.

Lop3 - Maybe I should have stated that I qualify using the 65000 Bth route and not 800.000 for 2/3 months etc.

As we all know each immigration office has its own 'set-up' and in Jomtien they accept a joint account ( for the more than 65000 route anyway.)

Or maybe they just like me.!
