Sorry, I thought it was A negative not O negative. So, I'm out.

    • Copy of your child's Thai Tabian Baan page (Blue house registration book)

    • Child's birth certificate
    • Original Thai Bank Book (for 1 year multi-entry visa)

    Visa Fees:

    • Non-O 3 months: 2,000 baht
    • Non-O 1 year multi-entry: 5,000 baht
Be prepared to wait! The consulate can get very busy. I arrived at 8:30 am and waited for 5 hours. There were a large number of people from Thai visa agencies, along with regular walk-in applicants, which created a long line. I received a pickup queue number 258, and there were still many people behind me. The actual processing at the window only took about a minute. You might get lucky and encounter a shorter wait time if you visit on a day when there aren't any large groups from Thai visa agencies applying.

Money Requirements: I had over 400,000 baht in my account for 10 days. The consulate offered me a 1-year multi-entry visa based on my bank statements, but I chose the 3-month Non-O visa instead. In a few months I'll apply for the 1-year extension in Thailand. Several people in line applied for the 1-year multi-entry visa but were only granted the 3-month Non-O visa because they lacked bank statements. This confirms that you can obtain the 3-month Non-O visa without showing any bank documents, but bank statements are required for the 1-year multi-entry option. This can change anytime but for the time being this seems to be the rules. I hope this helps!!

    Dunno, chum....🤗

I used to take the kitchen sink, just in case, didn't want a wasted journey....😋

Okay, looks like I need to be extra prepared this year. Bringing a couple of extra documents just in case, plus anything else I can think of. Last year's process was smooth, but who knows what they'll require this time. I'll be in Savannakhet on Tuesday and will update you on how it goes. Planning to apply for a 3-month Non-Imm O (marriage) visa, then extend it to a year in Thailand later. I think this is easier.

When Sav first started asking to show 400k for a Multi-O it was reported that it could be shown in your bankbook the previous day, along with a bank letter showing you had the 400k in your account.

Those who turned up not knowing the change were given a 90 day Non-O instead, for 2000bht.

Then folk here said the 400k must be shown to have been in your bank for 2 months previous, this to me has not been 100% clarified.

I myself maybe going there in a few months time, so hopefully we get some more "genuine" info here soon..😋

Regarding the application + documents for this year, is it necessary to submit two copies of all documents, or is one copy sufficient?

does anybody know if we have to leave every 90 days on a multi-entry non-o or can extend each entry (so leave every 5 months?)

also can we border bounce the entries? or have to stay overnight?

If you have a 1 year multi-entry you have to leave the country every 90days and you can only extend it one time. So you will have 1 year plus the 2 month extension. As far as leaving the country. I stayed at least one night outside of Thailand before returning. Some people have said they have crossed the border and back to Thailand the same day without issue but others have had problems. I just avoided any problems and stayed a night. I hope this helps!

Savannakhet now require 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for a 12 month Multi Non O based on marriage. According to reports on here and a personal e-mail from them, there is no financial requirement for a single entry.

I have no knowledge of Vientiane but I seem to remember they don't offer a Multi.  Their website should have that information.

How long does the 400k have to be in the bank for? 2 months? or as long as you have 400k in the bank they are happy?

    No I don't....🤗

This is my situation, I currently have over 400,000 baht in my bank account, but it hasn't been there for two consecutive months. I'm unsure now if Savannakhet requires the funds to be in the account for two months to qualify for a 1 year visa. A shorter holding period, like 3 days, wouldn't be a problem. However, if they do require two months, then applying for a 90-day visa with a one-year renewal in Thailand seems like a better option. Since I travel frequently, a direct one-year renewal isn't needed. Plus I hate leaving 400k in the bank for 2 month not being able to use it!

Just double-checking about the 90-day marriage visa (Non-O). Do I really not need to show any money to get it? or at least not 400k in the bank for 2 months? I just don't want to travel all the way up there and find out i need to show it. haha.

  9. Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage, likely at the Thai embassy in either Savannakhet or Vientiane. It would be great to hear from anyone who's recently been through this process!

Specifically, I'm wondering about the financial requirements. Does anyone know if proof of funds (showing 400,000 baht in your bank) is required for the 90-day visa? Or is the requirement more for the 1-year multi-entry visa?

Last year the Thai consulate in Savannakhet didn't require the 400,000 baht for the 1-year visa, but I think the policy has changed. They are asking for it now. I'm just not sure if they want the 400K bank statement for the 90day or just for the 1 year visa?

If anyone has any insights or recommendations on the easiest place to apply for this visa in Southeast Asia, I'd really appreciate it!

It seems they want to see 400k in your bank, but not sure if it has to be in it for the previous 60 days or not.

At the start of this requirement, it was said in the bank when you apply, so its a bit sketchy at the moment.

We need a few others to come forward with the facts.....😉

This might mess up my plans! What are the requirements if I apply only for a 90 day Non Imm O marriage visa. What funds do I have to show? Are the documents the same?

Just a quick update:  As of February 14th, 2023, this is the documentation that I needed to present at Savannakhet. (Appling for a Non Imm. 0 based on marriage 1 year multi entry visa)

    Filled In Application Form
    Two Passport photos
    Passport
    Copy of your Passport
    Copy of your Laos Visa
Copy of your Thai Spouse ID
Copy of your Thai Spouse Passport (If they have one)
Copy of your Spouse Thai ID Card
    Copy of the Marriage Certificate
Copy of your Thai Spouse Tabian Baan (Blue house registration book)
If you have Children with your Thai Spouse:
Copy of your Childs Passport (If they have one)
Copy of your Childs Thai ID Card (If they have one)
Copy of your Childs Thai Tabian Baan page (Blue house registration book)
Copy of your Childs Birth Certificate
    Show the original Marriage Certificate
Show  the original Childs Birth Certificate
    5000B for a Multi Entry

The process was straightforward. If you have all the required documents, it only takes a couple of minutes to submit your application at the window. I arrived at 8:15am and was there until around 10am. The line was quite big by 8:30am. No financial information was requested when applying.

    Hi everyone,

I'm planning to re-apply for my 1 year Non-Immigrant O multi entry (marriage) visa in Savannakhet in the next few weeks. Just wanted to confirm if anyone has recently applied for this visa type at the consulate there? Have there been any changes to the required documents since last year (2023)? Or is the above still correct? Do you have to show any bank statements this year?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I was under the impression that as long as you returned to Thailand before the visa expired you would get another 90 day permission to stay. I thought the idea with these visas was to time it to return the day before they expired to get a total of 15 months from each visa?

    Is this correct?
If you have a one-year Non-Immigrant O Marriage Visa (leave the country every 90 days) and you leave the country with a week left on your 1 year visa, when you re-enter Thailand you will receive another 90-day stamp even if there is, lets say 1 day left before the year visa expires?  After that when you 90 day is about to expire, you can apply for a 60-day extension?

when does the actual visa expire,

do you have non immigrant O visa for being married

if so you could obtain a 60 day visit wife extension closer to the leave before date in your passport, and then obtain a fresh visa at the end of that extension

if your not on a married visa then ignore my post

I totally forgot about that. I have plenty of time before my visa expires.  I'm on a 1 year non Imm O (married) multi entry (leave every 90days)  That's what I'll do. I'll apply for the 60 day extension. Thank for the reply!

  14. I have a one-year Thai non-immigrant O multi entry visa, which requires me to leave every three months. If I leave Thailand and apply for another non-immigrant O visa with a month and a half remaining on my current visa, will I lose the remaining time on my current visa? I will not be able to leave Thailand closer to when my visa expires, so I will need to apply for a new visa over a month early. Thanks for any replies!

I applied for my visa today.  Got to the consulate at 9:30 because prepandemic that’s what I used to do.  The line was out to the street.  It is a Monday and I should have known better.  The line is super slow, made it to the window at around noon.  I got receipt 205, which I think I was probably the 205th person this morning.  My wife didn’t come but I did have a copy of her passport, and they kept it.

My only advise is don’t go on a Monday and be prepared for the sun.

Yeah, I was there on a Monday as well. I lined up at around 8:15am and was done by 10am. I had receipt #50. By 8:30 the line was way down the road. It's best to get there by 8am.  You'll should be done before 10am if you can get there at that time.
