  1. Hi everyone,

I have a almost four year old and a 2 1/2 year old here in Ubon.

I would like to find a place that I can take them for approx 2 x 1/2 days a week.

I would prefer a place that is 100% Thai but......

is not over crowded (the smaller the better), is clean and is centrally located. No learning is needed as I teach them at home but a place where they can interact with kids their own age in a friendly safe environment.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

    MM

  2. Hi Everyone, chasing some help please.

This Christmas my family (wife and a 3 and 2 year old) are driving to the coast and meeting up with another family (husband, wife and a 8, 6 and 1 year old)

We aren't picky as to the exact area where we stay apart from it being in Chanthaburi, Trat or Rayong, however we are not interested in staying anywhere close to Pattaya. We really would rather the mainland as we will be driving but will consider and island stay if the place is good!

What we do require however is......

Accommodation on the beach. It either has to be right on the beach or at the most a easy walk of no more then 150 metres.

The Beach needs to be clean and safe to swim

The hotel/resort/bungalows etc needs to have a separate bedroom.

A kid friendly hotel/resort/bungalows would be a bonus. A place with a pool or playground etc.

Walking distance to Thai Food (fresh seafood is a bonus!)

Budget: Haven't talked with the other family yet but at a guess I would think up to 3,000 baht a night would be the go - happy to pay more for the right place though.

That's about all I can think of at the moment, I look forward to your replies.

  3. Okay how about this one?

Just had a customer in for Breakfast who at the back of his place has apartments for rent and he has two available at the moment. Nice location close to Tung si Muang Park. FUll furnished, cable TV etc. Power and water is actually slightly subsidised so cheaper then actually paying the govt rate. Air con is 3500 and fan is 3000 a month.

You do need to supply your own linen though. No cars, only motorbikes.

PM me if you want his number.

  4. Go to a few different banks and get a sterling bank draft in your name from each one by paying cash over the counter (say 5k a time).

Send them separately by registered post to yourself in Thailand, or to a friend, just before you leave England.

Remember to keep some in cash for your expenses while the cheques are clearing once you deposit them.

That way you're not taking out of UK or bringing into Thailand more cash than allowed on your person.

That would take a few hours plus a few pounds for postage to organise as opposed to filling in one form, bringing the cash with you and saving up to 30,000 baht when exchanging it into baht.

  5. What a load of twaddle most people seem to crap on about.

To the OP - it is very simple.

Get to the airport and declare it - fill in a form and bobs your uncle.

Arrive in Bangkok and go to super rich and exchange it into baht. Congratulations you have just saved yourself appox 30,000 baht in exchange rip offs.

Go to nearest bank with your passport, plonk your 1.6m baht on the counter and tell them you want an account with an ATM card.

    Sorted.
