  1. You don't really need a map.

It is located on the Sakhon Nakhon road (highway 22) about 15KM outside of town it is well signposted, about two kilometers after turning off the main road on the left, can't miss it.

Thanks Ragandboneman, I guessed as much but having never been there before I thought I would ask those in the know.

  2. Does anyone out there have a map for Nakhon Phanom airport.

That is a local map to get from the town to the airport?

I'm in Mukdahan and I'm traveling to the airport next week, all I can find is a Google map which has no street detail.

  3. I watched the clip last night. Dressed in black and with some black guard clothing. Running around the protest site with a bamboo spear.

The guy is an idiot and reminded me of a football thug!

What Thailand does not need now are farangs, especially twots like this guy, inciting violence, looting and arson.

To bad the army didn't get hold of him!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. To be totally honest more than a little disappointed with the lack of responses.

Especially given "members" always have a comment about everything!

It might be that the header was incorrect 2nd pick instead of 2nd hand pick. For that I am sorry!

Though I would really appreciate an answer on what I need to do with insurance, tax and registration :)

  5. I'm guessing at least one part of my question will have been discussed many times before, if so sorry about that and please point me in the right direction.

I'm think about buying a second hand pickup for my place up country. I live in Bkk and I travel up North to my house a lot. The trouble is it takes around 8 hours to drive there and I can fly there in around an hour. Hence buying a pickup to have located up there.

I'm looking for an extra cab / king cab or 4 door, second hand. I've seen 2005 Fords around for 320k to 340k and a few Nissan's around for mid 200k. Question one, what's a reasonable price for early 2000 model pick up, diesel and manual?

Also, can some explain the requirements for insurance, tax and registration please.

If I buy one in Bkk, does it have to be re registered up country?

    Thanks, Craighj

  6. Sounds like KC's is a great place and I should stop by...but I usually call in next door at the A1-1 Restaurant where I've been going for years. They do an excellent large Rib Eye (pon yang kum) Steak which I always order topped with kai dao. They even let me take my own red wine in to drink as they don't sell wine.

Now it would look like an act of betrayal if they saw me munching a burger next door!!

    Mai Pen Rai...cheeseburger here I come :D

(I really do recommend the Rib Eye next door though)

Thank you for comment, you is great customer at next door,i agree Big Rib Eye,my restaurant have Cheese Burger,I open 8 month,I try to do Good thing for my customer.

    Thank you,k.c.i.N :):D:D:D a

I was there last week with my Thai wife and kids, I can certainly recommend the restaurant. They even gave my kids free ice cream at the end of the meal.

  7. To be honest, not sure there is a hard and fast rule in this regard.

What I can say is that I married my Thai girl friend last year and she had been previously married, for about 5 or 6 years.

I was not expected to pay Sin Sod, though I was expected to give a gold chain to both her mother and father, which my girl actually paid for.

  8. Thanks Finner

I will start to check out the auctions.

I read an E-mail from Pond Life that he had bought a second hand tractor at Navanakorn Tractor, around the Rangsit area.

So I went and had a look yesterday. Some good second hand ones there, generally small to medium size. They have all the implements and lots of spares as well. The young guy I was talking to there spoke very good english.

  9. ^^^^ Unless you are very experienced at hand feeding baby parrots, stay clear.

The vendors will tell you it's easy... It is not.! :)

    Never buy an unweaned parrot.

Insist on hand-raised birds. :D & pay a bit extra.

    I could not agree more!

It is a difficult thing to do and very demanding, lucky I've done it many times before.

I'm suggesting anyone should by the babies, just that this place is quite intersesting and has lots of nice birds.

  10. Hi Guys

If you are looking for parrots, Maccaw, Cookatoos, African Greys etc. I suggest you check out the Sanam Luang 2 markets in Thonburi.

I've been there a few times and they have a very good range of birds. They also have some very cheap (sorry no pun intended) babies birds for sale. Although they need to be hand feed.

It is on Hwy24, about 15km from Nong Ki (so must be almost in Nong Bunnak).

I didn't see any of the larger tractors i.e. 90's but they did have 2 of the Euro 55DI's available along with lots of other models.

    Hi Ootai

Thanks, I will have to see if I can find the place to have a look.

I have a place in Mukdahan and I'm looking for a decent almost new tractor.

Does anyone else have any leads on second hand tractors around the 45 to 50 hp mark?

Location around Bangkok would be OK, as I live there most of the time. However anywhere around Issan is fine.

  12. Vanilla essence in small bowls in the fridge, as well as baking soda on small plates. Both strategically place throughout the fridge.

These are both classic smell removers, you may have to do it a couple of times.

The other thing you might have to do is ensure that you cleaned the rubber door lines properly, I suggest with Vanilla essence mixed in a little water.

    Good luck.

  13. I was having a talk with the miss last night and started debating over which shopping mall is the "best".

Personally I like Tesco Lotus. Food and appliances are on normal standards BUT I love there food court!

Which pulls me to TESCO to shop....

on the other hand my girlfriend thinks BIGC is the Best! Bigger, better more products to choose from in all catergories...Also thinks the food courts better!

Which comes to my topic, Which do you prefer? and why?

You know that Tesco and Big C are the same company and same owner. :)

Not much differences between them. But the size changes depending on the location. I prefer Carefur which seems to have fresher fruit and vegetables

I'm afraid you are incorrect. BigC is owned by the Casino Group from France and Tesco Lotus is owned by Tesco UK.

  14. has anybody noticed the new flight times to PI....both departure and arrivals.....i checkek for mid nov and couldnt believe what i was seeing....it loks like there will be no more PI trips for me from bangkok to clark....

JF, I just saw the flight times.

Not good, looks like I will have to go via Manila to get to AC in future.

    What are they thinking?

    Craig :)

  15. First of all, sorry, I know I have seen topics on this before, but couldn't find the threads on searching.

If anyone else happens across them, then a link would be well appreciated. (As always in a hurry today)

My Thai GF wants to improve her English at a language school, pref. between Asoke-On Nut.

She also wants to learn some Japanese.

The one school she has found is Stamford Education Centre in Ekkamai, who do not appear to have a website, and want a lot of money up front, with no trial course or anything.

Anybody know if this place is actually any good?

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

I could teach her myself of course, but we decided that's probably not the best option!

<P.S. Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, sorry, please move>

    TIA

    Hi Tendreams

I started my GF (now wife) with ECC when she first came to BKK.

In fact after the first set of lessons I signed her up for a full 12 months, which was at a discount.

I also use them at my work place to help up skill some of my staff.

They have a number of office close to BTS stations or a least only a short walk away.

    Good luck, Craig
