  1. Oh ok...yes i kind of know you're not that type of person because i did saw your comments at CM you seems to be a cool guy.

I only want to make it clear so other ppl know CR might be small but we're happy of what we have here. Been seeing some CM folks comments on CR makes me...you know.

Some folks talk like what a boring place it is (i dont expect nice comment from a night club type of person on this).

Anyhow there is no surprise for Chinese language course since people here expecting future business with China because of the R3 road (North-South Economic Corridor Bridge Project). For Japanese and Korean must be the trend through entertainment business. Korean wave is very popular in Thailand right now, well i think you know it.

Sorry for being uncool to you, its just my nature to be defensive (sometime too much) lolZ. :D

Bah phen yang jao...about translation, i'll help when i can :o

If have time take a visit to CR, you might see something you dont find in CM like the Golden Triangle or Mekong River for example.

  3. Do you even know this is CR thread and the OP asked for Korean teachers in CR, he did not asked for CM.

So what CR is smaller then CM but CR people are nicer then CM people. Basically you find it ironic that for a small town we have this language lessons while they should be in bigger town or something?

I'm a very pro CR person. I dont like when people talking down on my province. Just want to be clear.

  4. This might help your cute dog to get his own house.

  5. Thais regularly sending boxes by bus tour operations. Just simply asking the rate of charge at one of the bus agency to Chiang Rai like Siam First Tour or Sombat Tour (they are most well known). You will be charge for the weight of the boxes of course. The boxes will be dropped off according to the route they passing or they will be stocking at their bus office in Chiang Rai (final destination). If you have any one in Chiang Rai to picking it up for you then you might need to address your boxes in receiver name or you can picking up yourself. Just tell what you have in mind about picking up the things because this is not so difficult process at all.

Thank you. Will check it out.

Good luck with the move and welcome to Chiang Rai. :o

  6. Anyway people i forgot to add another festival around the same time like that of Mekong Cultural parades and Midnight Alms round.

As we all know now the flowers are blooming at Doi Mae Salong. They held Bua Tong flower blooming festival at Doi Hua Mae Kham from 9-13 November 2008.

Anyone interest to visit the event can also expect shows by the hill tribe peoples. Thais tourists already flocking into Chiang Rai to taste the northern coldness.

Some pictures to get the idea of this festival.

  10. How cold at night time may i ask? I called to Thailand yesterday and asked about the weather which i got the reply saying it was 25 degree (i called around 5-6 pm yesterday at Thai time).

Is it allow now to burning? I mean its not Dec-Jan yet maybe not heavy effect?

  11. Last evening I walked, or tried to walk, the street. The crush of people was unbelievable. I started from the HaYaak end and after many minutes of jostling, and a pleasant chat with some pretty students from the Vocational College, from whom I bought 5 bahts worth of black jellied drink I made it to the Suan Tong basketball site where many tables where situated for eating. No free tables, so I perched on the end of a bench and enjoyed some Som Tam. Back to the scrum when I finally made the crossroads I'd had enough and walked back the around the more peaceful block to where I'd parked near Tops Super, and home to watch the Arsenal beat Man U on the box.

There were many things there, vendors and food stalls galore, and some entertainment spots, but the crush of bodies was pretty horrendous. I daren't think what it will be like for Loy Kratong next week with firecrackers being chucked about. We won't be there a while!

Thank you for your nice pictures! Yes i thought myself too after i saw the pictures. But CR is a quite town if some event is up the locals will heading the place. :D

Dont know about the Loy Kratong thing but i thought the place to be is at Mae Fah Luang bridge or at Mae Kok bridge?

So this mean you will not be out at Loy Kratong, can you miss that? :D

    Excellent Update konjianghai

    Thank You

    Wiley Coyote

    You're welcome :o

    Thanks konjianghai. Very nice pictures.

    :D You're welcome!

Yes. I might be time to dig out the old Olympus superzoomer for the upcoming Saturday.

I was only mistaken that it was on Friday konjianghai because the thread says Friday walking street.

Yes the thread saying about friday but it's saturday instead. :D

  12. Its today around 17.00 pm, you're a little too soon :D

Would be nice if Lannaman provide some pictures or anyone going with a camera, post some picture pls :D

Sorry no pictures this time. It clashed with Language School Halloween Party (1 day late) I was in costume and made up and very weary, so made it for home and a shower and a large tot of whisky! I'll go next time and take pictures then. Anyone know if it's held weekly or just the first Saturday of the month?

    Holloween ehh... :D

Every saturday in a month there's a walking street and as i've read if it become succesful the event will also be held on sunday too.

Start at 16.00 pm till 24.00 pm. About the locations it was mentioned at Tanalai road up to 4 crossroad where the Goverment Savings Bank located.

The length of this walking street is about 1500 meter plus they divided into 3 zones.

Zone 1 : Otop goods of CR such as produced by the royal projects and hill tribe products.

Zone 2 : Handmade items by the locals, demonstrations about spa products like herbs and traditional massages.

Zone 3 : This zone include exhibitions, products - gifts -souvenirs stalls and the market.

Nice initiative though, the food sellers are not allow to use plastic wrapping materials but the natural ones instead like leaves, paper bags ect...

I was looking at a webboard and saw some pictures of this event. I didnt shoot them myself.

Theory and practice are 2 different things ehhh :o

Clock Tower looks like its finish. I can hardly see the time. :D

  13. After have a read on Chiangraifocus today the news on this local event has confirmed to start Walking Street at 1 November 17.00 pm and following by each saturday of the month.

The walking street section start from Tanalai road. Dont forget to give some review if anyone of you going to the walking street. :o

  14. Thank you for sharing but who or on what is a hotel base on 5 stars? This hotel have everything and is perfect?

I'm just wonder though. I also thought CR have several nice hotels (the looking of it not about the food).

Why so many hotels anyways i dont understand. This province should have good public transport, better city planning, more recreations ect...

Thats what this town/province need...sorry i am abit off topic. :o

What to expect from a star rating depends on who rated the hotel. If the owner rates it, it could well be a 3 star. Sometimes the Thai associations are pretty liberal as well. The star rating has been so abused that some luxury travel publications are now suggesting and some are using 6 stars for places like the Oriental and Peninsula.

When the Dusit Island Resort opened, it was rated 5 stars. But when competition changes and standards change, and properties get a little tired .. star ratings should be revisited.

Here is what AAA says about a 5 diamonds rating.

Properties reflect the characteristics of the ultimate in luxury and sophistication. Accommodations are first class. The physical attributes are extraordinary in every manner. The fundamental hallmarks at this level are providing meticulous service, exceeding guest expectations, and maintaining impeccable standards of excellence. Many personalized services and amenities provide an unmatched level of comfort.

Here is what TAT says http://www.tatnews.org/tourism_news/2618.asp#l

Thank you for your reply, now i get a better picture of hotels rating. :D

  15. Maybe it will work if the moderators re-section the groups. Like Klikster mentioned we can split up the Northern Thai section into southern and northern groups.

Northern/Southern group started at provinces outside of Lanna 8 provinces. The 8 northern provinces is consider as Lanna territory : Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Lampang, Lamphun and Mae Hong Sorn.

But then the majority of expats living in CM. They will beat other provinces anytime. Perhaps we should keep the way things are.

  16. Thank you for sharing but who or on what is a hotel base on 5 stars? This hotel have everything and is perfect?

One wonders in the current financial climate, will they get any guests?

I hope they (all of the hotels and guesthouses) will get full booking at this season. I really feel pitty with them though at the time like this.

Not so good year for tourism. :o
