The Thai people got ripped off with Pita being eliminated and now they are seeing what a joke their justice system really is. Yet the people do nothing and so the politicians laugh all the way to Switzerland. -

What is the real deal with proposed foreign income tax changes?
koolkarl replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It isn't proposed but a fact and has been in the works for years. It is an income and asset cooperating agreement between Thailand and most other countries and this info is updated yearly. The information goes both ways. If you reside in Thailand more than 180 days a year, you will be liable for tax on your world income and Thai tax authorities will know about it. So start packing. -

Outrage over Abbas's antisemitic speech on Jews and Holocaust
koolkarl replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Where did Abbas get his PhD, in a crackerjack box? He is extremely ignorant and only makes complex matters worse. Israel has made important technological inventions; what have the Palestinians contributed to the world? Israel is simply defending itself. The Palestinians don't need to worry, Air Canada is waiting for them at the airport ! -
A lot more food on the floor and in women"s purses at all you can eat buffets. I haven't met a Thai yet who even likes Chinese. Don't forget mile long lineups at the airports too.

Except my originating bank only uses wire transfer and nothing else is permitted.

Your bank makes money on the conversion of sterling to baht. Read carefully what I wrote.
-
If you wire Thai baht to Thailand from outside Thailand, the funds first go to the Bank of Thailand and then to Siam Commercial Bank. They deduct 1000 baht and then reroute the money to the final destination bank who helps themselves to a further 795 baht in Bangkok Bank's case. This is excluding the wire fee from the originating bank. If you wire USD to Thailand, it always goes via JPM in NY who takes $50 US to reroute funds to your Thai Bank, who again charge money to receive the funds plus make money converting the USD to THB. What a racket.
