Prices for just about everything have been rising about 10% per year for years already. He hasn't explained how he calculates the Thai inflation rate each year. I can get 5.5% interest on US funds outside this country compares to 1.5% paid by Thai banks in baht. The baht should be far weaker against the USD and a USD swap line must be used to keep the baht at it's ridiculous level. I notice that no members are looking at this article. Government loves apathy.

Angry Chiang Mai Activists Burn Their Red Shirts
koolkarl replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
There is only 1 thing all politicians are afraid of and force them to do what the people want and it isn't waving a sign. Up until a few weeks ago, army helicopters flew daily over Chiang Mai looking out for large gatherings I am sure. Entire political process is well orchestrated. -
Fitch downgrades US credit rating from AAA to AA+
koolkarl replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Thankfully they have the printing presses running 24/7. The entire military costs and space program have always been off balance sheet. In other words, they don't care how much they spend. US power comes from the USD being the reserve currency of the world. Without it, they are done. Going off the gold standard gave politicians the green light to spend at will. Then there is Japan. A new definition for being bankrupt. Entire financial system is smoke and mirrors. -
Do they look at the price of used furniture to calculate their CPI? Everything I buy has been rising 10% per year for ages already. With interest here far below the US, the Bank of Thailand has been busy selling USD via their swap line and buying baht non stop. Most obvious case of currency manipulation.

Now a full independent audit on all his and his wife's bank accounts, especially wire transfers out of the country.

All planned for him to be the next PM, elected or not. Wonder if he has submitted a recent statement of assets?

Better bring their army helmets and gas masks. It was so much better here with covid lock down. Even the marine life was flourishing. -

Disgusting to the max. I think if you tied a beef steak around his neck, a dog wouldn't play with him. -
Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP

The US did nothing in Burma and will do nothing here too. The army have the guns and Thai people don't have the guts. As foreigners, if you don't have to be here, find another country. It isn't safe. -
Only the Thai central bank, with it's USD swap line, can move the baht currency significantly. No individual can buy or sell large amounts of baht. It is a controlled currency. The baht was heavily manipulated yesterday and prior few days as evident by the volume. In the long run, the baht will fall significantly against the USD.

Pita ready to step aside if his party fails to win senators’ hearts
koolkarl replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Pita isn't too bright for a politician. He should have maintained that the senate will remain intact and no changes will be made, when Pita was on the election trail. After he secured the PM job, then make the necessary changes. But, too late. -
Online calls for boycott of senators’ businesses top trending overnight
koolkarl replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The baht is very resilient due to the USD swap line in place with the Thai central bank, no doubt. Also, one cannot buy or sell large amount of baht. These are other ways the friendly politicians rig the game. This country is run by a handful of individuals. Don't think boycotting some businesses will be very effective at all. Plan B needs to be implemented. -

Likely find him in Monaco, on his yacht, with a blond under each arm whereas he should be standing trial for treason. What amazes me is what these people get away with and the general public always does nothing.

Thai tourism surge: 25 million visitors forecasted, boosting economy
koolkarl replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Airfares have doubled to/from everywhere. People must have lots of money. I feel sorry for the marine life. It was really recovering during the covid lock down. And it was so peaceful strolling along the beaches without it being packed with garbage tossing, loud, obnoxious and pushy tourists.
