  1. A friend of mine (who is from the UK and 79 years old) had his Astra Zenica vaccine at Bang Sue station on July 22nd. His 2nd is due Oct 22nd.

He lives in Pattaya and has difficulty getting about. He would like his second vaccine in Pattaya but has had no success upon contacting the hospitals here.

Is his only option to try and get back to Bang Sue when it is due or is there somewhere nearer he could get one ??

There were regular buses a little over a month ago from the same place @ Jomtien, they should resume operations from July 1st with lesser frequency. Although now it seems  like "the date" is Aug 1st https://airportpattayabus.com/from-pattaya/

Anyway there are busses from Northern Bus Station to Ekkamai (google map > bus to Ekkamai) and also few places to catch minibuses, some from Jomtien. I never tested those how reliable they are since I prefer Ekkamai to Mo Chit where these usually arrive

Thanks for that. Didn't know of that website.

  3. Don't know if this is allowed here or not, but a friend of mine who lives in Pattaya received a letter addressed to a P. A. Lumber from  England.

He apparently lives, or did live, somewhere around Thepprasit Road.

He's just trying to get him his letter.  Giving back to Thai mail will just cause it to get sent back or dumped in the bin.

  4. Apologies if this is answered already.

Is there a bus service in operation from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi airport at present ??

The one from View Talay/FoodMart nr. Jomtien has been suspended and Bells Travel disappeared a year or so back.

Is there another one or is it back to the taxis ??

You might feel that it sucks, but how can they possibly award an extension beyond the expiry date of the passport, when you cannot legitimately stay in the country without a valid passport?

I agree. But I believe a few years ago they did give you a full years visa on a soon-to-expire passport and they would transfer it over to the new one when you got it. I might have dreamt this, I'm not sure.

  6. I'm sure this has been answered many times, so I apologize before I start.

A friend's British passport expires in January 2022 and he needs to renew his retirement visa this month.

Am I correct in saying that when he renews it now he will only get his retirement visa up until the expiry of the current passport and not the full year. When his new passport arrives, he will need to re-apply next January for the next retirement visa.

He can use the re-entry permit to enter the country the same as before.

He will though have to meet the entry requirements at are in effect at that time. Now it means having a certificate of entry (COE) and quarantine in a ASQ hotel. And covid 19 insurance valid for his allowed stay in the country.

Some embassies also will want the 40/400k baht insurance to issue the COE.

Thanks. I asked because last year I believe you couldn't use it to come back and had to satisfy other requirements.

Is it possible for someone else to do your yearly extension for you. I am sick (not covid) so don't go out unless I really have to. Being somewhere where there could be covid worries me.

    Be grateful for any information.

    Thanks. Mls

I believe you do have to go in person because they take a photo of you. Best to get someone to go and ask and explain why you can't go. Maybe if they take a photo of you with them that will suffice, I'm not sure.

  9. This YouTube video shows folks drinking outside in Jomtien market and the subtitles say it's the first time for drinking outside. If you look 40secs into the video, the beer is in covered plastic glasses so I would say it's still illegal.

  10. A friend of mine went to Jomtien Immigration this morning to do his 90-day report which was due on April 21st. He was told quite firmly that he's late and not to be late next time !!

I thought there was an amnesty on this till July 31st. Either you must do it on time (within the parameters) or someone clearly doesn't know their job.

    Thoughts anyone ??

There is no visa on arrival for 30 days. Will he actually be getting a 30 day Visa Exempt?

This can be extended by 30 days at immigration for 1900 baht, or a border run will obtain a new 30 day Visa Exempt entry.... You are limited to two land border visa exempts in a calendar year.

OK. I always referred to it as VOA. I.e. he's coming on holiday for a month, possible longer, without obtaining any type of visa from a consulate in the UK. I guess it's called a 30-day visa exempt now.

I've read posts here that say it's not so easy to get a tourist visa these days. In fact my mate (who's retired) was refused one 'cos he didn't meet the criteria. Anyway, if he can do the Immigration office visit and get another 30 days, that's all he needs.

One more question - hope it's not a stupid one. Should he get a flight ticket which gives him a month stay, then before he's due to fly home, go to Immigration & get another 30 days, THEN change the ticket for a later flight home OR do you change the ticket first ?? I'm presuming that you don't purchase a ticket which is for longer than a month as they may query your visa.

As I said I hope it's not a stupid question.

  12. Apologies if this is answered elsewhere.

A mate is due to renew his retirement visa on Nov 10th; his next 90-day reporting however is due on Oct 10th and consequently the 90-day report after that will be on Jan 10th.

His question is - will he have to make an extra visit on Feb 10th to show that 800K has indeed been in the bank for the requisite 3 months or will this be checked on the next 90-day report on Apr 10th ??

    Thanks in advance.
