  1. just my tuppence worth.................wouldnt it have a layer of dust on it within a few days of being stationary, mine always does and then surely the paint has a slight degree of protection from the sun.and if you really worried then a cheap full car cover will completely protect it...........even if it gets nicked then might have been on car nearly the 2 weeks already or tie it down loads of times infact be over the top ..then i think the thai thief will be too lazy if he has to spend time trying to untie lots of string/rope/tape .might work haha

  2. I can't believe there are so many weak, gullible people who cave in to pushy sales tactics. I wonder how many tailor-made suits they have.

thats true to some degree.............but these sales people are taught to have an answer for everything, they go thru every scenario before they even get to talk to real customers.you dont have same training in saying no,you just have to be very strong minded.....but remember a lot of people go there with an idea they want to get fit/healthy so sales really go for it there and then because they know people may go and look other places or just not join if they dont join there and then.i have been to many sales training course like this and dont like this style......it is very over the top and condescending but thats what these companies want nowadays.

as to a suit.....if you buy one and you dont ever wear suits then of course your a duffus to buy one. :o

  3. Maybe I've missed a few things, but were did you get these "facts" ?

actually he is a yank .......hes definitely not fit,go and take a look at him......my girl says he looks funny(shes not wrong) haha...hes actually younger than he looks unless hes lying about his real age(possible)...he gets away with a lot there as his dad practically owns the california chain.

24 Hour Fitness sales people in the US were never as aggressive as described here. This manager sounds like a one of a kind jerk. A proper report to the hqdtrs might find him on the street. This guy a sounds like a total ass and should be fired.

Do you have a problem with Americans? Remember that is only one person. Losers come from everywhere. The fact that he may look funny is not something that you should be commenting on and it is a rude remark.

hello......i got these facts from the horses mouth so to speak :D ......if you go there and talk to him then you will get these facts also.hes from america so hes a yank......he said he is 25 (cant remember exactly but was around this) but i would say looks easy in his thirties(maybe all those pressure sales he does).....just my opinion of course, you may think he looks yonger than that.he told me his dad is the big big boss so thats why i presume he can get away with any complaints made about him(i checked and yes his pops is very high up the california corporate ladder),anyway these companies dont care about complaints of sales staff as they want them to push the customers...its numbers that they care about and if plenty are joining then he will be praised as head of sales...when figures are crap then he will get slightly moaned at......so i hope this answers your questions.i thank you. :D:o

to finish off....i dont have a problem with americans just jerks....i didnt think the term yank was offensive...if it is i apologise.also i apologise if you get upset that my lady said he looks funny....thats just her opinion and as to being rude have you not read what he has done to many of the people he has talked to.....read original post to recap just a little....but i would say he has been more than a little rude by a long way so saying he looks funny is not too bad......personally i think he is a complete <deleted>....u even called him a loser and an ass.i rest my case.goodbyeeeeeeeee

  4. Just found this nice GB chrome badge and was thinking of sticking it on the back Of my pick up, then I wondered if it was a wise thing to do..? Do I really want people to know it's a farangs vehicle or am I being a bit silly.. :D

whatever you do do not put it on your pick up.................

it will look better on my motor!!!!!!!

seriously i would be very surprised if many bib know what it stands for even if they noticed it so i wouldnt worry..in my opinion :o

  5. I am looking for a few different steroids in Thailand. Are they available ? I am looking to buy Anavar (Oxandrolone) and Dianabol (Methandrostenolone). I was in a bad car accident and need to get back into shape.

I am fully aware of the side effects of steroid use and just would like to know if I can buy them and where.

    Thanks

where r u located??? some places are easier to get them than others.send me a message

  6. There is enough negative information about this place on this forum to cause any sane person to never go near the place much less purchase a membership. Who would want a lifetime membership in a business sure to fail?

personally i dont think it will fail although believe me i would be very happy if it did......

as they know and other large international fitness chains know ...to survive/profit you need to go high pressure on the sales front......it does bring in money as people join and never go back to the place...money for nothing!!!.if they get enough people to join initially then this will cover there outlay, then they hassle the people who joined to buy more stuff ......personal training, drinks etc.......it wont stop, and they will still keep high pressure sales ongoing .......for yrs to come.

there is a high turnover of salespeople as very stressful position especially if boss is complete <deleted>,but the new people will try there hardest initially to hit there sales targets so they get bonus as basic salary will be next to zero.

im afraid the gyms that dont do pressure sales fail nowadays which is a shame as i believe a good gym is one where they care more about the customers health and needs rather than just his cash.....and america is the worse culprit for this high pressure technique mainly due to the owners of the clubs not even interested in workin out so dont really care.....its pure money to them.

i have been involved in the gym business for years and changed direction due to large corporate companies putting the smaller more caring gyms out of business and im not into hassling people to join.

i suggest joining tonys,no hassle to join and open 24 hrs ,good prices etc...i dont personally like tony but hes not my training buddy so what do i care......hes not ripping you off or ringing you up to join if you pop in for a look around.

  7. You come across as an insecure, jealous guy who couldn't handle a fit young man acting friendly to his incredibly beautiful girl. By your own account you're practically an invalid yet you talk about feeding this guy to the fish.

You come across as one of those guys who needs to impress upon everyone that their girl is different and "not of those bargirls". In the Philippines and Thailand we hear this every day.

He was the same age as me or looked it. I left the UK because of "feeling guilty due to past indescressions" and have no wish to return because I don't like the person I was and don't want to be me again there or here. A lot of nasty people in Pattaya and I don't want to add to that.

actually he is a yank .......hes definitely not fit,go and take a look at him......my girl says he looks funny(shes not wrong) haha...hes actually younger than he looks unless hes lying about his real age(possible)...he gets away with a lot there as his dad practically owns the california chain.

i understand they want to make money but theres a limit to pressure they should put on and they go beyond that and now have a bad rep.....<deleted>.in sales they never like you to go before paying something as they know a lot of people wont join/comeback.the manager is a complete jerk and doesnt listen and i think he takes it too personally when you dont join......hes like a spoilt child(which he probably is).he needs to differentiate between those who just need a little push to join and those that like to decide themselves first......trouble is too many people will succumb to the pressure and then regret it.....nothing you can do after....you signed. :o

  8. What happend was there were TWO Father Ray scandal covers, TWO WEEKS IN A ROW... so the first week, I was correct, there was no contact information in the ad for the Christmas meals... in the SECOND week, which is THIS week, there is an all new Father Ray scandal, and the Christmas meal ad was CORRECTED in this week's edition.

I had no idea the Father Ray people were so scandalous, which contributed to some of us being at a loss to understand why there was no contact info in that ad.

But those Pattaya People editors are really clever, cause this week's Father Ray scandal makes the first week's scandals seem like a walk in the park... this week's scandals go into accounting irregularities, and all sorts of other really juicy stuff.

So when the earlier poster was saying how their Father Ray cover DID have all the contact info, we clearly weren't talking about the same scandals on the covers.

Maybe there will even be a part three Father Ray scandal... I love this stuff!

Here's another picture, sort of what i look like...

    post-8654-1198489651_thumb.jpg

    I don,t believe you.

This is obviously a cheapskate trick to prevent us bidding for the misprinted article on EBAY. Shame on you. :D

i was just wondering where i could buy a shirt like that...........are you trying to hide out in the russian quarter? :o

  9. You do not have to submitt any documentation to back up your claimed amount:

"Although you do not need to submit any documentation with your claim form, you should retain the supporting materials, along with a written explanation of the methodology used to determine the estimates listed on your claim form, in case your claim is designated for audit by the Settlement Administrator." Can I submit estimated yearly foreign transactions for years where my records are either incomplete or I no longer have statements to support my transactions?

This is rather old news but good that someone brought it up again.

    TH

ok its not a scam but unless you used your card a hel_l of a lot then i expect theres not a lot to collect....but ok every dollar helps!!!!

  10. I generally like Belgian food, except mussels... this reminds me of the time I was in Bruxelles, and a tour bus took us to the "Grand Place" (pronounced "plas")... I was sort of a punky teenager, and I asked the tour guide, "what's so grand about this "plas"? I had thought I had insulted him... and late that evening, we were both riding up the hotel elevator together, with no one else in it, and he said to me, "do you want to come to my room to relax a while"... I declined this enticing offer... but what do you think he meant?

obviously he just wanted you to come to his room to relax......youd had a hard days sarcasm and he perhaps wanted you to relax your jaw a little, maybe pop something in it.while he massaged the back of your head.......the least you could have done was go inside......just to make your story more interesting, might have turned your whole life around, still visiting pattaya but maybe not going to the same bars you go to now :o

good luck with your new sanitary club.........im starting a new sarcasm club ,your more than welcome to be a guest speaker anytime, just dont moan if you get bombarded with stinky sanitary towels as there seems to have been a rare down pour of them recently on sukhumvit rd.

  11. When I first went in to enquire it was several Months before the opening.. at that time they were charging around 18,000 baht for a 2 year membership ( though a Thai friend said she'd been offered 3 years for 20,000) then as it got closer to opening the prices went up My neighbor paid 22,000 for 2 years and another guy I know paid 30,000 for a lifetime deal.. From what I could see you could bargain a deal depending on your wants and how much they could pressure you into.. As has been said they have a good location and great equipment.. Unfortunately the music is deafening to the point of distraction, the staff appear sullen and unhelpful and the shortarse smarmy looking boss comes across as a right smug <deleted>... Most people go to a gym to train, relax and de-stress.. they don't want to be pursued by salespeople or have to deal with rat faced expats on the make...

    couldnt agree more

  12. Best theft deterrent is to keep a mean, nasty rotweiler in the passenger compartment.

    That's what I do :o

....but three of themis even more safe:

    Gerd

i cant even fit my bull terrier in the passenger compartment(called glovebox in uk) let alone 3 rotties.....rspca should be informed on this. :D

as to OP i would think with the number already changed then it will be looking for a needle in a hay stack.......about 1 in 3 cars is a fortuner, well thats what it seems.sorry to hear anyways

  13. I have just bought a new pickup from Toyota. All the contract is in Thai, which is fair enough, gf helps out with that part. Anyway, I was very concerned about insurance and the salesperson said that the first year is free from Toyota. Took a bit to convince me of this, but eventually gf pointed out a line in the contract and said this was for "insurance number 1". Only thing is that the cost was put down as 10,000 baht, which seems rather low to me, especially as I see similar vehicles in ThaiVisa threads costing 20K-23K for renewal insurance. I would prefer to buy it myself if it is too low for decent cover.

Is this figure arrived at for any particular reason I should know about, or is this correct? Anyone else bought new recently who could advise.

One thing which was also strange(to me only) was that I was never asked one question about driving licences, etc. all the normal things one would expect before getting insurance at home. Is this usual?

yes they give you free no1 insurance ......except its not free, they already added it to the price you paid for the pickup, its just another way they all make money...they done a deal with certain insurance company and get a nice commission on it....also insurance is done here more on value of car specifically rather than age, experience etc so you will find when you come to insure next yr that will be 20k plus.as to your licence...when you have a claim then all that will be checked and if they can find anything to wriggle out of paying then they will untill then they couldnt care less if you have even driven a car before.your in thailand now bud,get used to it. :o

  14. if bully sold me land at inflated price of 300% i would be happy his partner passed(from a buznit point of view).

why does simon want to cumplete deal? dont make sense.

did simon outsmart the bully in getting a good price for the land.

peeple just have a hard time putting their thoughts to words......................lol.

picture clearer now. you paid without getting bill of sale. in usa you can sue yr lawyer for stupidity!

he wants to complete deal coz he has paid for the land already!!!! wouldnt you want to?? if not....lets do business..i got a great deal for you...money up front deal.ok??

and we are not in usa hence problem!

  15. Hi Everyone,

I would like to share this good news to all our dear VISA forumers. I decide to post it here since there is a sizable of American , UK and other western expats live in TL or came here as a tourist.

This is a letter that I receive from U.S. Didtrict Court Settlement Administrator last week.

    Quoted...."

    Dear xxxxx xxxx,

We are writing on behalf of the U.S. District Court because you are eligible to receive a Court-approved refund of fees charged to your eligible cards, which are Visa, Master Card, and/or Diner Club credit, charged and/or debit/ATM cards. The fees were based on FOREIGN transactions, including both purchases and ATM withdrawals,

    from February 1, 1996 to November 8, 2006.

Please read the enclosed Natice explaining the proposed $336 million settlement and all of your options under the settlement..." :D

Therefore, if anyone of you received your credit cards (from those co: mentioned above) in the U.S.A, and had done foreign transaction in the period from Feb. 1 to Nov. 8, 06. Go to www.ccfsettlement.com or telephone at 1-800-945-9890.

Good luck & MERRY CHRISTMAS :D:D:D

smells like a new scam...or is it an old one repeated??

have you any previous knowledge that any of your cards have been used here without your permission...if not then definite scam...probabaly want your card details etc to refund you :o

  16. sorry just read your initial post again.........good if you can get your important thai friend to settle it as this is what it is all about for you.im afraid the land agent fcuked up by doing these deals and was unfortunate for him (and you) that his partner in this lucrative scheme died.(if he really did!!!)...he had a good idea but in his greed he forgot that he had to trust solely this thai guy to be honest or at least stay alive.ultimately it is him that has caused this problem for you and he has not sorted anything for you in 5 years....i would point out to him that he made you vastly overpay for a piece of land and that it was with him that you made the deal so it is him that should pay you back and then chase the thai family for his money....tell him once he has paid you back (when pigs fly !!!) then you would help him sue for his money back.if you think you can at least get the land(with thai friends help) then tell him to <deleted> off hassling you or you will sue him for welching on his deal with you and working in thailand without wp........follow through with this if he persists but he will have to be real stupid to carry on .personally i dont think he has lost any of his money so has to get you and maybe others customers to help as he may have lost some profit to be made in said thai mans death....so he has nothing to lose and lots to gain.

  17. hello simon,if your fed up with it all then pass it over to me........if i get the land for you then will split it withyou 50/50.

this will probably be very hard to do as you seem to have paid for the land before receiving land title... i dont fully understand why you did this or why your lawyer was happy for you to do this.just why was a deposit not paid initially??

was money given to land agent or to the thai guys account....this will make a difference as land agent may still have your money.....although i presume he hasnt got it all as he wouldnt be so wound up about suing the thai family.i cant see how he has lost his own money ....seems he was purchasing land with clients money and if they were buying cheap then im sure he wasnt giving the thai guy the full amount which means he still has some of your money and other clients too.obviously there is more to this than meets the eye,but if you want to shut him up then tell him you will be taking him to court to explain where exactly is your money/land .....im sure he will disappear especially as no wp,doesnt help get your money back but will get him off your back.

i havent read other replies so excuse me if repeating advice or there are new twists to this story that i dont know.

if he wants you to help sue them then why not if he is paying legal fees etc as was his fault and might possibly be the only way to get something back but this being thailand i will be very surprised if you receive anything but when you just leave it then this will happen again and again as thais see we are pushovers and just give up.man this is a lot of cash ..your cash, but im just afraid it may be used against you in pay offs to make it more difficult for you to pursue.the thais are pretty good at hiding the money and saying its spent and probably let a family member spend a yr in jail as punishment for this offence......2.8 mill is areal lot to them and worth someone taking a yr or to out......but at least its better than getting away with it scott free.im just sorry to hear of another guy getting ripped off again and again..has happened to one of my friends due to him not listening to me and others and trusting a 'nice helpful thai lady'.i have been duped in a very small way when i first came here and now im sorry to say i trust no one especially in thailand.good luck.

  18. I'm not suggesting you do this but, if you don't tell them, providing you don't have a problem, how will they know you've been to Bangkok on it? :D

Thats the thing, if it was policy / against there contract then sure no problem, bangkok here i come, but if the bangkok police are going to hassle me about it and possibly tow the vehicle off the road for being unregistered i am not sure it's worth the risk.

Why don't you buy a bike, use it for your trip then sell it on?

you was joking right??? :oWhen I made this comment I wasn't aware he intended using a big bike. ok fair enough

spend 200 k baht on a big bike just to go an hour and half on expressway to bkk.......Bikes aren't allowed on the expressway ok 2 hours on other roads only something like 120 baht on bus.

not quick n easy for a holidaymaker to register the bike in his name and then have the hassle of trying to sell the bugger after...lose a fortune just for highway experience. Depends how long he's staying.he would have to stay quite a while to make it anywhere nr worthwhile ive had 2 big bikes up for sale and cant sell at a loss in high season......he also mentioned he only wanted to rent for a week for highway experience

to OP i suggest having a ride around the bigger roads outside pattaya, theres nothing special on the road to bkk apart from some nice big pot holes for a fast bike to not avoid.god luck There's no adventure in that though is there & certainly no story to share.only story /adventure i can see in it is a trip to the hospital.......surely more adventure country driving or take to bira ....just my opinion!! :D

  19. About two weeks ago my girlfriend took me to the gym that she'd just joined.

At the risk of sounding arrogant my girlfriend is beautiful and I don't just mean pretty. She is one of the most beautiful girls in Thailand if not THE most beautiful and she knows it and is acutely embarrassed about it. She's a University educated, Hiso girl whose father, now retired was the king's gardener and she'd met him hundreds of times and saw herself as being hugely privileged because of this. What she was doing with me is anybody's guess but I feel like the luckiest man alive because of this.

Welbeck, you live in Pattaya with the most beautiful girl in Thailand (I didn't see the pic before you removed it) and you get upset when someone hits on her.

    What a joke!

Everyone knows where you found her...what do you expect them to think about a beautiful girl with a Farang in Pattaya, and especially since she's the most beautiful girl in Thailand? As far as the Thais are concerned she's anyone's game. If you can't handle this, leave Pattaya and live somewhere else...maybe an isolated farm or island where contact with other men is limited.

You should get a grip, because if this minor incident bothers you, you don't have what it takes to hang on to her.

I am curious as to why the most beautiful woman in Thailand wants to be with a cry baby?

You should get a copy of the songs "When you're in love with a beautiful woman" and "suicidal".

i dont think he has had trouble with thais thinking shes anyones game.....im sure most thais dont hit on her in the way farangs do.

also im not sure that it was the hitting on her that bothers him as she could probably handle that, as must happen often if she really is so beautiful(didnt see pic also) but the problem is that a slimey farang(manager) has implied that he knows her boyfriend and that he has been saying things behind her back to him......now thats out of order as now he may have lost his lady due to this wonker messing with peoples lives.....thats more than just hitting on her!!! personally i think he deserves a smack and thats the least he would get if he did same to me.

maybe i shouldnt be allowed to live in pattaya either!!!

its bad enough that the thai ladies go around making up stories to get farangs in trouble with there girlfriends,we dont need the guys doing same.....cmon we"re bigger than that surely. :o

  20. I'm not suggesting you do this but, if you don't tell them, providing you don't have a problem, how will they know you've been to Bangkok on it? :D

  21. Maybe it was something INSIDE your car... one time I was on a bus from Mexico City to Taxco, and there was an awful stench... couldn't locate it... About 1/2 way there, most of the bus emptied out, but I toughed it out... then at some point, the bus did a quick acceleration, on a turn, and this plastic bag slid back on the floor, towards where I was sitting... someone had disposed of a sanitary napkin, then i guess they got off the bus, and just left it as a present for the rest of us. I had a napking with me, and i used it to grab the sanitary napkin in the bag, and I tossed it out the window. I felt bad about littering, cause I'm totally against that, but under the circumstances, I think I was within reason. The rest of the bus was without incident, for the most part.

Maybe you had something similar in your car, like a used sanitary napkin in a bag.... i don't know, i'm just guessing, cause the other suggestions didn't seem reasonable to me. I would suggest you look under your car seats. I hope this helps.

:D hilarious...........................yeh this sounds more reasonable.maybe someone put it in his car as he got to sukhumvit and took it out 5km later.

plus he already said smell came when opened windows...........so maybe on the roof and blew off..its the only answer :D

sorry for my sarcasm, cant help it sometimes :o

  22. Insecurity runs through this thread like viagra-pumped blood in a muscle. As for "California Woe" and its manager - who can blame him for hitting on her? That's what most people do here!

great attitude......so its ok for the manager to hit on his girl, lie as to what the boyfriend has said while also taking his money for a membership package he dont want.........i hope you have a sister and she comes on holiday here and looks around the gym and meets said slimey manager and he hits on her just coz shes in pattaya then lies to her behind your back saying you said she is a ho.......still ok???? :o

  23. So the manager told your girlfriend that you told him that you don't pay for the sex..

I find it hard to believe.

u find it hard to believe that the manager told her or that he dont pay for sex :o

ive met said manager and agree the blokes a wonker......or words to that effect.

personally i dont like hard sales tactics when i look around a gym........shows theyre more interested in your money than your health.....good if your on their board of directors but not so good if your a customer. :D

  24. I'll keep this short for the sake of my blood pressure.

Last wednesday I went to pick up my boys as usual, about 3.45. When I got to the school I saw my youngest (6 years old) sat in his usual place outside the new building waiting for me. He was crying. I guessed he'd had a falling out with a friend or something and went over, rubbed him on the head and asked him what was wrong. He said his arm hurt. When I looked down I immediately noticed he had a broken arm. I couldn't believe it! Can you?

No teacher sat with him, no phone call to inform us (even though it happened at afternoon break 2 hrs previous!), no transport to hospital for xrays, nothing! NOTHING!!

When I collared his Thai classroom teacher he did a wonderful job of deflecting any responsibility and basically said it was my boys fault for not telling anyone. He said that he had taken him to the medical room and decided after twisting and pushing and pulling that it was just a bruise. When I reminded him that he wasn't a doctor and he had been extremely negligent he said, 'well, if that's what you think that's up to you.' and went to walk away.

    Unbelievable!

Anyway, the bottom line is when you leave your child in the care of a supposed professional you don't expect to find them sat unattended, in pain, crying, at the front of the school with a broken arm when you go and pick them up at hometime.

Of course, the worst thing is that nothing will be done about it. When my wife bumped into another Thai teacher from the school yesterday he said that my son shouldn't be so quiet and speak up if there is something wrong. AHHH!!!!

Best summed up by a friend of mine who was present at the time - 'BUNCH OF IDIOTS!'

yes i can believe it.......everyday read and hear stories like this..........sorry dont know the answer.the problem i think is that we were brought up in different country with different values, you cant fast forward a nation(thailand) 30 years so will have to wait for it to hopefully catch up!!!
