Last night on out way out of Pattaya we encountered the queen of all rotten smells. It lasted for about 5 km past Pattaya south road going south on Sukhumvit around 8pm last night. Anyone else experience this. Not only was it unbearable but it covered such a wide area. Anyone know what it was? My guess was a busted sewer main......

sorry about that but i went for an early curry last night and had to leave the windows open for a few km on sukhumvit rd on way home......il post an early warning and let you know when im having a curry again.

When does peak season end? I am thinking about coming the second week of January and I am wondering if I will have a hard time finding a hotel. Also, will the hotel prices still be peak season rates?

im afraid i would have lost my rag especially as you were polite initially(i presume) at time of accident and she was happy no damage was done then so the only reason she tried it on was coz you are a farang....if you were thai then there would be no way they would try it on....so thats when i would have lost it and told her and and anyone who wants to stick up for her where to go.probably not the best thing to do but sometimes we gotta make a stand so maybe next time they wont rip the next farang off.im fed up with thais thinking they can get money for nothing,if you had damaged her bike then fair enough.

i would have laughed in her face and got my mrs to point out that this was obviously old damage.......if they had got shirty then tell them to call police and you could have got manager of place too but i think he would be on her side if thai unless he didnt particularly like her.....if the boss was a farang then asking for him may help as she dont want the sack over this i presume and you could explain better to another farang.its a load of hassle over nothing but police would only be on her side when some money in it for them and she aint got enough to have any clout so that leaves you in the driving seat...sticking to your guns then what can she do......aint a police matter anyway so they would be fed up her messing about.another way could have been to say to follow you to tourist police station to sort it out,im sure she wouldnt be bothered to do that and the people there egging her on aint gonna go there with her !!!

anyways various options there but i would as i said laughed and just left......her fellow thai helpers there im sure wouldnt have got overly involved(violent) as it would be obvious to them that its bullshit although they probably were after share of looty gained from you.if they would have got shirty then i would have gone into full on mode as i know they all try it on ,coz they think we are jai dee so lets take the piss,but if they really want to get violent over this rip off then bring it on....as im in the right then il take it all the way......knock em all out ,take the bike(just to teach a lesson in som nom na) and never go back there.any follow up from boys in blue then just do as they do......never seen them,the bike or been to that restaurant before....mistaken identity.lets go to court.....take about 2 yrs and they cant afford lawyer ....if you lost then small fine boo hoo.if at this stage it doesnt look good then contact high up police officer,few hundred quid...matter over.

there is no easy answer...everyone here wants to earn a decent buck or two....or pound for that matter.not a lot of jobs/opportunities out here for us farang...if there was then the place would be stacked 6 deep.i know im not being very helpful but just trying to get you to understand that none of us want to go back home(or ex home as should be known) and that there are not any legal ways of making reasonable income here unless you are extremely lucky .as the saying goes......how can you make a small fortune here........answer:start with a large fortune!!!!!

if you could join the police force here that would be a good start or if you owned a hospital that would be a good moneyspinner but if you have no large investment then expect little return,you cant make something from nothing!

i suggest the best opportunity is to buy a lottery ticket every week and keep your fingers crossed.

ive never heard that one before....buy a rolex and put it on ebay.......some of the rolexs here at the second hand shops are more expensive than what you would get on uk ebay.i would understand if he was talkin about copies.

Alloy wheels are a good steal for thieves. I would think about buying some rust eater which will clean up your wheels in 10 minutes and get some nice new hub caps.

WOW ive learned something new anyway.....i thought standard/normal wheels were steel,never heard of iron wheels....are they heavy??? also i havent seen any rusty alloys ,yes they pit as they get older,i knew that.have you used rusteater on a very rusty piece of metal???? a few weeks/months and looks terrible again.i agree just get new hubcaps if the ones you have are damaged as this is the cheapest option for you.....but if you wanna improve the look then a nice set of alloys(preferably not rusted)....i have a set i put on a honda jazz with tyres,17 inch,dont know if will fit your car but ive sold the car and got the wheels up for sale on this site .

Steel is iron basically - iron ore + energy = steel. All alloys corrode, even stainless steel - obviously not to the extent of steel - the corrosion is hard to see as it is white as opposed to red on steel. The corrosion on steel wheels (or ferrus oxide) is likley to be only surface and easily removed. If they need to be spick and span then a coat of nice paint will do the trick.

Rust on steel = ferrus oxide - ferrus = iron Not so clever are you

anyways i live in pattaya and there are many tattooists here...some good some very bad....if someone has a tattoo and they are very happy then they would say they had the best tattooist....i can only go thru my experience and what friends have told me and what ive see.ive heard a guy called martin is goodi think he operates from some sort of bus in north pattaya....seen some of his black tribal work and is very good and very black..original designs for the individual.tiger tattoo has a good reputation ,studio in soi 7 and in best friend beer bar complex on beach road.i have had some done at the beach rd place and have been very happy but as i said there are literally hundreds here so hope some others give there opinions.

also some tattooists are better at certain types of tattoos...some can do freehand some cant and also i would like a good tattooist to do a portrait type picture .

hello,been checkin out this site and others as to a decent place(in pattaya) to leave a dog for a few days or more.rang round a few...some shut now as phone number disconnected.some want 450 a night to put in an air conditioned facility which i think is a bit high considering in the past ive stayed in a room with aircon,tv,fridge.room service etc for less than this.some of the vets offer accomodation and i checked out a few...price ok but im afraid im not leavin him couped up in a small cage in there upstair room for almost 24 hours a day shittin in his box....he would come out a mental case as he is used to roaming in garden all day and enjoys watchin people walk past and having a growl at neighbours dogs when they walk past then retiring to our airconditioned bedroom and supersoft mattress!!!!how could people leave them there for weeks???

not a lot of choice in pattaya.also worrying about him disappearing mysteriously as have read stories of this happening....obviously they sold it!!

anyone used k9 or uk kennels which are a little out of main town but hey they got some space there.....anywhere else?????

I recently bought a second hand car which would benefit from a new set of wheels - underneath the hubcaps, the rims are quite rusty.

A few questions:

What is the difference between alloy wheels and 'normal' wheels?

What is the price difference between alloy wheels and 'normal' wheels?

Can anyone recommend where to buy in Bangkok?

hello,by normal wheels i presume they will be steel wheels which are usually a lot cheaper than alloy but you wont have much choice especially if you want to improve your cars looks.steel rusts ...alloy doesnt by the way.

dont know what car you have or what size wheels you want but i dont think you will find a big choice in steel.....maybe from a breakers yard or car with same hub fitting size.for alloys you will find many shops/garages in bangkok.....there are not many roads any where in bkk not selling auto parts of some sort.pricewise varies as so much choice and dependent on size also.if you buy a bigger size then dont forget new tyres.

HELLO,sold the car but still got the alloys....looks the dogs bollards on a honda jazz and im sure they will fit other cars.there 17 inch with falken tyres with plenty of tread.they are mainly black wheels with outer rim polished alloy......pic of car was on this site before somewhere as car was for sale but if you serious then message me and il send you an email wit pic of them on the car.asking 20 k baht but maybe take an offer.if you buy new just the alloys without the tyres cost more than this,then ask the shop for 4 17 inch tyres and expect to pay 12 000 baht up.the wheels are in good condition but pick up a few marks as this is thailand but nothing serious.email me [email protected]

update........has 15000 km not 14k as stated,warranty left till june 2009,bodykit/wheels/tyres cost me 50k baht.it is the base auto model so no airbag/abs/leather

the only foreign people who have a small fortune in thailand are those that came with a large fortune..............so basically my advice to you would be to get a good job,save up loads of money and in the meantime come holiday in thailand as often as possible and learn more about the place.....its not a place where foreign owned small businesss are encouraged by the thai people ,there main interest is our money and how quickly they can get it from us which in your case would be very quick.come to thailand and speak to bar/ club owners of which i have been one and you will find out that a big big majority wish they never did run a bar etc. and the ones that have run sucessfully have been very lucky...odds about the same as winning the lottery.your young,save up and come and spend a year here first and see the real place as you will certainly learn more from this than a month holiday,speak to the expats and they will tell you like it is which is why we all laugh at your nieviety.hope this helps and is not too negative.
