  1. The ABS unit in the wifes Fiesta failed this week as well, you really need to find out what diagnostic codes you have, there were 8 codes in my wifes car

U0155 - Lost communication with Instrument Panel Cluster

U0420 - Invalid Data Received From Power Steering Control Module

U0423 - Invalid Data Received From Instrument Panel Cluster

C0034 - FR Wheel Speed Sensor

C0037 - RL Wheel Speed Sensor

    U3003 - Battery Voltage

C0020 - ABS Pump Motor Control

    U3000 - Control Module

So off to Ford Pattaya who quote 45000 THB for a car that is probably only worth about 150K maybe, we decline and they charge 1500 THB cos they looked at it, last Ford I will ever buy, car was brought brand new from Ford Pattaya and has been nothing but trouble and the service from Ford Pattaya has been cr*p. I drive a Toyota and the service compared to Ford has been chalk and cheese.

Plenty off these ABS modules available from scrappers in UK etc, 2nd hand units at around 2-5000 THB but the ball ache is you just cannot swap the unit as each one has to be programmed to the VIN number of the vehicle, I ask the missus to call Ford to ask what would they charge to reprogram a used unit but missus says they wont do it if you don't get the part from them, she says she called them to check but I don't know if she actually has or is just surmising that Ford wont program a self fitted 2nd hand unit.

There are some companies who will try to rework your unit overseas but I haven't found any in Thailand yet.

I buy mine from a pharmacy here in CM she is very good about keeping it in stock. I stocked up when the covid thing started. People on the internet buy a big bunch of the stock up for resale. This is what the lady I buy from told me, also the price is now higher 500 count bottle for O hell cannot remember but I think over 1000b now before 750 count bottle for 500b.

You are lucky, getting it in Pattaya is almost impossible, I managed to get Fascino to stock it in Pattaya for a while but they won't stock it anymore and before that I used to get it sent from Bangkok but that source dried up as well.

I knew the price has drastically increased as much as a few 100%, I used to buy the 1000 tables bottles at 500 baht but last bottles I got was 2200 baht for a bottle of 500. I have heard of a few reasons why, including internet companies stockpiling, swine flu increasing raw material cost and new customs law making it more expensive to import Desiccated pig thyroid from China though I can't see why they would need to import it with all the pigs in Thailand.

I take it you have tried the usual small shop on 2nd Road.......... If you have a genuine need for it can you not get from a doctor?...... if not in Pattaya have you tried the usual shops around Nana BKK?

Doctors will normally usually only prescribe Levothyroxine which doesn't work as well for many people with Hypothyroidism, which I have had for over a decade now. The natural Desiccated thyroid was quite easily available in Thailand, since 3 of the most common brands where made here, Thyroyd-S, Thiroyd and TR-T  but in the last year or so it has become increasingly difficult to get. Tried second road but no luck.

  3. Anybody know where I can get Thyroid-s preferably in Pattaya but anywhere in Thailand will work if I can contact them to ship to Pattaya? The Pharmacy in Pattaya that I used to get it stopped selling it and it seems it is getting increasingly harder to find this.

^ Think they're all silly o'clock kick offs Thai time so I doubt it. A stream is your best bet as Sky and beIN MENA will show them.

Yeah, I think most of them are on late.

If it's on amywhere try pptv ch36

Cheers, I will check it, I did look on pptv ch36 website but couldn't find no mention of the play offs

  5. A new Indian Restaurant to me that I found on Grab delivery and have found their food to be really tasty and for Pattaya Indian's not breaking the bank is Tarka House Restaurant, this is my go to Indian right now.

Well worth a try if your an Indian food lover, the only downside I have found when ordering delivery is some of their deep fried food doesn't travel well and is usually soggy by the time it arrives, though I am on the darkside and they are located in one of the sois of Beach road so it has traveled a fair bit by the time it gets to me.

I just send a message via that chat facility and got an almost immediate response, Hopefully they can sort something out.

I think they should, it maybe something on your end as I decided to risk a 1000 baht and I did get to watch Sky Sports so it does seem a legit alternative to 365 or Expat Premium if they don't return. Will probably stick on monthly for a while though to see how everything pans out.

  7. Have to agree, I decided to risk a 1000 baht with IPTV and found Sky was working. Though I'm in Germany at the moment it worked directly from Germany and through a VPN in Thailand.

Though you cant get onto the website directly from outside Asia. My AV didn't like the program though and it threw out a few warnings but other than that it seems a viable option if expat premium doesn't come back and TBH it doesn't look as though it will.

Just lost 900 baht as only paid the day it all went down, I thought it was a temp glitch, unfortunately not, anyway bit the bullet and subscribed to Pulse, very happy, loads more channels catchup on every channel and simple to use, highly recommended. Thanks to this thread for the suggestion.

Are the Sports channels working, Sky Sports etc ?

  9. Wonder if Pulse get some of their streams from the other 2 that are already down, don't know if they base their pricing off of the IP address but for me it's showing 1 year subscription is $330 and the 1 month subscription is $40 but if their sport channels are down then they are of no use to me as well, though it's funny that 2 posts within minutes with one working and one not.

Looks like Mega Expat TV only sell an Android Box that has software installed and seems as though they don't provide content directly but appears to link with other providers, so seems it's basically just an android box with Kodi and the options of connecting with Thai Expat TV etc.Already have 3 such boxes that don't get used so looks like this one is out. Some of their FAQ responses below seem to support this.

It’s important that every customer understands that content could go offline from time to time and you could experience connection issues that are our of our control due to other networks.

Everything we supply on the box is free of charge and there are no expensive monthly subscriptions to worry about. However should you wish to try some premium services we offer the option to connect to these providers that offer some solutions for a minimal monthly fee. There is no obligation to use these providers and they are simply there for your convenience as some customer might in-fact have accounts with them already so we make sure our customers are not switching from box to box

  10. It does appear that the sports orientated providers, 365 Sport and Expat Premium TV have been stopped by the law since not only are the streams working but their websites have also been taken down which does suggest that either the law has got involved and pulled the sites or the site owners have pulled their services before getting into trouble.

It does make me wonder of the longevity of any other similar services.

  11. I know there is the other thread running but there seems to be a lot of confusion between Thai Expat Tv, 365 Sport, Expat Premium TV etc.

I would like this thread to be only about Expat Premium TV and whether it's gone for good, which seems likely, and any viable alternatives seeing that 365 Sport looks like it is also going the way of the Dodo.

Before the last couple of days I was using Thai Expat TV for the normal UK TV channels and Expat Premium for Sport and didn't have any complaints with either of them. Generally I would use Expat Premium every weekend for the Sport with Thai Expat TV only occasionally when there was sport on that Sky don't have.

My question is does anybody use an alternative that is easy to use, sorry Kodi fans but that is one big PITA to use, and you can watch live or on catch up ?

From what I've seen so far, my choices look like being either Mega Expat TV or Pulse TV as both show that they have Sky Sports but it also seems they are pushing Android Boxes so not sure if either works with Windows yet, the last thing I need is another Android box collecting dust. Anybody using either of these services on Windows?

AIS Fiber is the way to go.  Switched over a few months ago and it is really really brilliant.

Unfortunately not available in Pattaya, as soon as it is TRUE is gonski. Been with them as a ISP for about 7 relatively trouble free years, but the last 3 months have been an absolute joke.

  13. I recently "upgraded"  from TRUE Docsys 40Mb/5Mb to TRUE Fiber 100Mb/40Mb and it is absolutely the worst decision I have ever done regarding internet access in the 14 years I have been in Thailand. Among the many problem is that every 3 or 4 Google searches results in the message below and seemingly being blocked out of doing another Google search for seems about 15 minutes. Anyone else on TRUE fiber seeing this message? BTW, I'm on the east side of Pattaya.

"Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?"

My missus has been on the phone with True almost every day for the last 2 weeks, complaining about lack of speed, torrents not working, internet disconnecting and reconnecting continuously. I am almost to the point where I will be calling TRUE to come and take out ALL their stuff out of my house.

We have been told on more than 6 occasions that an engineer will come to our house within 24 hours, on each occasion not a single sole has showed up at our door. Anyone else also on TRUE fiber that uses TVChaousUK that finds that torrents are taking forever to start  downloading?

  14. Thanks Sheryl, will look into that.

A lot of the pharmacies I tried were trying to push Testohof Forte as either better or same, same but I had never heard of this brand, a quick google found that it's Methyltestosterone instead of the, I believe, more edvanced  Testosterone Undenacoate used in Andriol Testocaps and has more potential side effects due to higher estrogenicity. That and the manufacturers website, medica.ch.com looking decidedly dodgy  or low budget has put me off trying that product.

  15. I have been trying to buy Andriol Testocaps in Pattaya and some Bangkok pharmacies and everyone I have tried told me "No Have" and many said "Used to Have, no have anymore". Can someone recommend a place where they have been able to get them recently?

Or has the importation of Andriol Testocaps been stopped ?

I much prefer the pills to the injections so I hope I can locate a supply soon.

  16. Ordered $90 worth of ALA from Swanson in the US and found delivery was slow so called DHL to be told that I need some kind of import licence/permit and until I can produce one then I will not receive my goods.

Never had this problem before as I have ordered vitamins and meds from outside Thailand previously.  I'm not a doctor so there is probably no chance of getting an import licence so do I have to write these off or is there any other avenues I can explore ?

I was a bit wary this time as I saw Iherb had put up something on their website about having difficulties in shipping things to Thailand, service from DHL was abysmal BTW, they didn't contact me to tell me there was a problem with my shipment so I had to get in touch with them and one of their staff even told me that next time I should just order one bottle at a time. I'd be paying more for shipping than I would the product.

I do despair of moving to this country at times:sad:

  17. My wife was driving her 2012 Fiesta today with my 8 year old daughter in the back when my daughter said that she thought the door was open. My wife stopped the car to check and sure enough the door had opened while she was driving and could no longer be latched shut.

I have had plenty of cars and have never experienced a car door that wouldn't latch shut after some googling I see that Ford in America have had to issue a safety recall for this very fault where a plastic pawl that hold the latching mechanism spring breaks and the door can no longer be shut.

All fine and well having a safety recall in the US but what about the rest of the countries Ford, is it only US lives that matter  The Ford garage in Pattaya would only replace the broken latch which of course was not covered by Ford Thailand and was not stocked and would take a week before they could get another delivered, which means the car know has 3 doors that could develop the same issue at any time and a door tied kept shut with a bit of string thanks to Pattaya Ford.

Neither I or my wife will purchase another Ford in Thailand, the after sales service, in Pattaya at least, completely sucks.......anyone want to buy a second hand Fiesta :shock1:

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 8, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is expanding a previously announced safety recall regarding door latches to include approximately 1,500,000 additional vehicles at the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, bringing the total to 2,383,292 vehicles. Affected vehicles include 2013-15 Ford C-MAX and Ford Escape, 2012-15 Ford Focus, 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC and 2014-16 Ford Transit Connect.

In the affected vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. A door latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a “door-will-not-close” condition. A door that opens while driving increases the risk of injury.

Ford has identified one reported accident and three reported injuries that may be related to this issue.

There are 2,383,292 vehicles affected in this recall, including 2,046,297 in the United States and federalized territories, 233,034 in Canada and 61,363 in Mexico.

Dealers will replace side door latches at no cost to the customer.

  18. I applied today for a an extension of my non imm o visa and got a stamp saying "Application of stay is under consideration of immigration bureau applicant must contact this office again on July 9". This has presented me with a major headache as I have to be in the UK on July 9 with no way of getting out of having to be in the UK on that date.

What if any are my options here, Immigration in Jomtien were no help at all. Is there any way I can get the extension before, unlikely, or after that date? I'm also a dual UK passport holder so is there a way I could leave my passport that is going to have the stamp and give someone else the authority to take my passport to immigration on that day to get stamped?

Or is my only option coming back to Thailand on a tourist visa and do a run to Savvanakhet to get the Non Imm O for taking care of my kid and then doing the extension process again ? Seems that getting a non imm o for taking care of a kid is npot possible in the UK, or at least it wasn't 2 years ago when I tried to get one in Cardiff?

    Any advice appreciated.

  19. Note that if you do the re-entry permit at the airport there is a 200 Baht service fee, but no form or photos are needed, the girls do everything.

    Takes about 20 minutes.

Thanks Crossy, good to know I don't need to bring anything with me.

BTW, do you know the location of the counter, I checked the airports website but I can't seem to locate Zone 2 on the 4th floor in my minds eye, is it before orcafter immigration?

  20. If I get the 90 day single entry, I need to leave Thailand twice in the period before I can apply for an extension, is this possible, can I get a multiple entry re-entry permit for a 90 day non-imm o and due to time constraints i.e. leaving Thailand the day after getting the Non-imm o, can it be done in the airport? A google search that led back to Thai Visa said it can be done at the airport but that there are no reports of anyone actually doing it?

You can the re-entry permit at the airport. Both airports in Bangkok have re-entry permit desks that are open 24 hours a day.

The fact that you just did an entry on your visa will make no difference.

It would be best to get two single re-entry permits. A multiple costs 3800 baht verses 1000 baht for a single.

    That's great news, thanks.
