  1. ^ actually Xenical will prevent up to 30% of the fat in a meal being digested.

Bought 84 tabs at Fascino pharmacy in North Pattaya for 3192 baht after member discount.

You have to remember to take the correct vitamins when on Xenical as some fat soluble vitamins also pass right through instead of being digested. There are some Indian generic Orlistat pills but I havent seen them in Thailand.

  2. If you do find a supplier or representative - and Iam assuming you have ResMed - can you pls post as also I need my machine calibrated - much apprecaited

Resmed's distributor in Thailand is SaintMedical http://www.saintmedical.com/

But they're prices are anything but Saintly, I was quoted 180,000 baht for the latest APAP machine which I then bought for 30,000 baht in America.

I order all my supplied from www.cpap.com and they deliver to Thailand only problem id due to the exclusive distributor rights with Resmed they can only ship other brands to Thailand and for Resmed you have to go through rip off Saint Medical.

  3. ^ World of sport has the same menu as it's Naklua branch, basically mainly English with a few Indian, Mexican and Thai dishes thrown in.

Tried it once and the quality is not up to it's Naklua's branch yet, in fact the meal I had was pretty bad. Fish and chips, the fish was burnt and the chips where oozing oil. Plenty of room for improvement.

A closure to report of on Soi Khao Noi, The Great rolleyes.gif British Fish and Chip shop has closed it's doors, not such a great loss though bah.gif

  4. Just drove by the old Cafe Uno (which was sold a week or so ago) to find that there are signs up saying "World of Sport". Looks like the owners of "World of Sport" in Naklua, who I know where Uno regulars have bought it and will trun it into another branch of their "World of Sport" restaurant.

Having eaten a few times at "World of Sport" I'm hoping that the food and menu will be the same, which is good quality British food. Not sure when it's due to open but from the signage that was going up today I would suggest it will be open for business quite soon.

Should be another good addition to the Darkside.

  5. I have had the 8Mb True service for almost a year now and I must say does more than it says on the tin. Never had any problems except for the one time when lightening took out the DSLAM near the village I live on in Soi Nernplubwaan, but was back online within a few hours. Hard to believe less than 2 years ago I was stuck with a shity TOT 1Mb connection that cost 2700 baht a month.

  6. What time does Gullivers close?

A lot of the games kick off at 01.30 (including the England v USA game).

Will Gullivers still be open at this time and stay open to see a whole game finishing at 03.15!

    Hope so but just checking.

I don't know about this year but during the last world cup in Germany (same time zone as South Africa) Gullivers stayed open until the end of the games. So hopefully it will be the same this time.

  7. Not so sad news, there is room for a good sportsbar on the darkside, always wondered why there isn't one.

    Good luck to them.

While Uno was a decent size for a restaurant I think the place will be too small for a sportsbar.

Cafe Uno sold? I saw it coming, it never created the revenue it deserved. The food was outstanding and good value for money!

Speaking of...what happened to Noi's Bar? I haven't been out for a while. Hope they are still around...

Agreed, the food was outstanding and very good value for money. Noi's is still going but not sure how busy as I've been away for nigh on a month.

  8. Good question Paul I'm looking for somewhere with a good atmosphere for the England USA game, but as its pretty quiet here right now it looks like its going to be a half empty bars here and there watching it...you think anywhere on Walking Street might have it on?

I watched all of the last WC at Gullivers and some of the matches had a great atmosphere with the place completely packed out, which is a lot of people considering how big the joint is. I would have thought England V USA will get the place full and should be a good atmosphere.

  9. Only UBC in HD has the license to show the WC 2010 in Thailand in English and Supersports is going off the air. It may be slim pickings. :)

I believe that True Visions (UBC) with a standard box will also give English or Thai commentary, selectable with the language option.

Not sure if HD will only have commentary in English or commentary and half time analysis, if I'm going to pay extra for the HD I would like to have proper English analysis.

  10. For me it would have to be Gullivers at the Naklua end of Beach Road.

A large amount of LCD TV's plus the huge quality projection screen in the dining area (unlike the shit quality projectors found in many bars), commentary you can hear and good value prices on their drinks in a nice comfortable environment and good quality reasonably priced food. :)

  11. ^ I enjoy a beer with their curries, just get delivery or take away :)

Sad news, one of the best places on the Darkside will close this week, Cafe Uno has been sold and will be turned into a sports bar/restaurant, hopefully the new owners will have the same quality of food.

  12. I tried to add it to the map but I can't work out how to do it. If someone else who knows how wants to it is at the next junction towards Sukhumvit after Sweet Pinto cafe which is by MapYaiLai 10 per the map.

I did my best to place it. I think you have to log in to google to edit the map, so if you don't have gmail or some other google account you can't (again, just my feeling).

Just looked, you got it pretty much spot on.

  13. I tried to add it to the map but I can't work out how to do it. If someone else who knows how wants to it is at the next junction towards Sukhumvit after Sweet Pinto cafe which is by MapYaiLai 10 per the map.

Easiest way to find it is that it's between Lucky time bar and the Muslim school. It on the opposite side of the school and coming from Sukhumvit it will be almost immediately before you get to the school.

Had food delivered from there again last night, couldn't fault it.

  14. I will be flying out of Swampy Sunday and was wondering if there any expected delays between Pattaya and Swampy due to the Red shirt protests ?

I would imagine that the motorway would be clear up to Swampy and maybe just some longer than usual delays at Swampy for security checks.

Anybody flown out of Swampy in the last few days experience any delays ?

  15. Tried a newish Indian restaurant on Soi Nernplubwaan called My Home Nan & Curry, this is a small open fronted shop opposite the muslim school on Soi Nernplubwaan.

It's not the best place to have an eat in meal as it's all plastic tables and chairs and they don't sell alcohol but their food is very good and very cheap and all cooked freshly. Service can be slow if there are many customers as everything is cooked fresh and it seems there is only one cook.

I would recommend this place is better for a take away or delivery.

The highest priced dishes on the menu are the mutton curry's and prawn curry's at a whoping 140 baht :D:) in fact all the meat curry's are priced from 100 to 140 baht and vegetable curry's at 70 baht.

I tried the Onion Pakora 70 baht, Chicken Tikka Masala 130 baht, Saffron Rice 30 baht and Nan bread 20 baht and it was all extremely tasty and some of the best Indian food I've had in Pattaya at a much lower price than would normally be charged.

Free delivery is available for orders over 300 baht, telephone number is 0816641454 menu below.

    -----------------

edit: I took the menu off, we had some kerfuffle with menu postings before and must apply the same standards to all.

Once again...recommending a place is ok, criticizing it also also ok, but posting entire menus or slagging off is not ok...

This is not an official rule, but a standard we should adhere to....ok? :D

  16. Bob's BBQ quality has plummeted recently, there is a lot of talk that the place is for sale and that he consistently is running out of products. There have been reports of no ribs, no french fries etc.

Apparently he has some serious cash flow problems.

Just to add though I've never been I have heard some good reports on the Beefeater on Soi Dianna.

  17. Hope your not a homophobe as most times you'll end up sitting next to an old farang with his thai teenage boyfriend for the night from one of the boyztown agogo's. It might put you of your ribs.

  18. Unfortunately some of the more dissapointing meals I have had in Pattaya have been in Jamesons, you go in expecting a good standard of food but on many occasions Jamesons dissapoints, much better fare in the P & W IMO.

Also the carvery has to be one of the more dissapointing carvery's in town, nowhere near as good as the Sportsmans on Soi 13.

  19. Bloody hel_l, 369 baht for a Subway Sandwich. I had a full international buffet at Cherry's restaurant last night for 295 baht, now I wonder which was the best value :):D

  20. Yo Chinda is an Indian/Chinese restaurant listed in the 2010 Door2Door food delivery book.

Be interested if anyone actually knows where the restaurant is, I have heard that the food is quite good and reasonably priced but before ordering take out from a new place I like to actually eat in first to check the place out.
