  1. AFP almost managed to get through a report without having a dig, but not quite.

So now, presumably, the defense lawyers will have to be given a full copy of all the evidence against the two Burmese and will be able to put together a defense based on what is both in, and isn't in, the police files.

As the Burmese Govt and HRW are reported to be cooperating in a defense one would expect experienced competent lawyers who will be questioning everything.

Then there is the yet to be released Scotland Yard report, interesting times ahead.

The Junta has disbanded HRW and blocked thier website because they were interfering and finding faults. That's one obstacle in the way of the prosecution removed.

I've just opened their website....what are you talking about?

  2. I wonder how the prosecutor is gonna play one of the key pieces of evidence, the cell phone that has been found at so many different locations (4 I think).

I think the prosecutor knows exactly which phone was found where and when, he doesn't have to read tv for that.

Unfortunately for the prosecutor the police found Davids cell phone in 3 or 4 different places, now he has to convince somebody (the judge) this is credible evidence. Like this cell phone much of the evidence in this case is suspect based on the police public announcements conflicting with other public announcements.

If you dont agree the police totally and completely screwed this case up from the start you might as well only respond to JD.

The police didn't find Davids phone in different places, it were the conspiracy theorists on here and other social media that twisted and turned all the news that came out to make it look as if it was so.

That later all of it was explained they conveniently haven't read of course.

So you are another one that thinks only his opinion counts on this forum?

Were you involved in the direct investigation of the case?

Are you a close family member of the victims?

Could you explain in one or two sentences EXACTLY what a "conspiracy theorist" is, the text book meaning of one? Please? If you could do that then you

might not sound like one of those right wing flag waving gov't following sheep that throws out the term simply to try and discredit solid criticism of the police

or anyone in power, like the gov't. Come on, give it a try.......I bet you can't.

  3. originally charged the two migrant workers with the murder of David Miller, 24, and the rape and murder of Hannah Witheridge, 23

"They (the two suspects) were charged with intentional murder," Paiboon Archavanuntakun, Koh Samui's chief prosecutor, told AFP.

Hmmm? So, then who will be charged for the rape of Hannah? What a joke of a cover-up, the pathetically incompetent RTP and mafia (same same)

can't even get their lies straight.

  4. Have these guys even had a bail hearing/arraignment? Have they been "officially" charged with any crime aside from maybe illegal immigrant status?

I'm from the USA, yeah it's different in Thailand I know, but... Either charge the guys with a crime or put them under house arrest until the RTP & prosecutor get their "acts & stories" together.

Being charged with murder = no bail. Being detained & investigated for months on end makes no sense at all.

After all, it's a "Perfect Case" & the RTP can do nothing more with it, according to a statement by the police.

If they are guilty then drag them to the nearest tree & string them up. If not, they deserve a chance to defend themselves sooner rather than later.

Being charged with murder = no bail. Being detained & investigated for months on end makes no sense at all.

The funny thing is a prominent Thai citizen have been convicted to death penalty for murder not more than 2 weeks ago and is out on bail for 1,000,000 THB.

Convicted of murder AND out on bail...

    Talk about double standards...

    Talking about double

    Not accurate.

Not accurate?....then can you kindly state the accurate story? Otherwise, why should anyone believe you?

  5. Thailand unemployment rate is still under 1%

    Officially yes.

That said, do you really believe that figure?

What conspiracy theory do you suspect would make you doubt this while other nations and global organizations don't? Do you even know how this figure is measured here and in other countries and what the definition means? How many Thais do you know looking for and unable to find work?

Been through this extensively on another thread.

Many ways that the Thai number doesn't make it entirely comparable with the west. Actively seeking employment, definition of employment, Definiton of paid work, the role of defining agricultural labour in comparison with the west etc etc.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The definition is those who are able and actively seeking work but not working ... same definition in most places including the US.

Do yourself a favor and do a little research. Numerous Asian countries have some of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. While no figures can be exact the definition and the rate is accepted by the world (those that matter - not internet posters)

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/07/14/world.comparison.unemployment/

    http://www.worldfinance.com/home/top-5/top-5-countries-with-the-lowest-unemployment

    https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2129rank.html

    http://www.esri.go.jp/jp/workshop/120803/120803-05.pdf

Went through this at length elsewhere. Not going to bother. When there are 10mn in hand to mouth labour and that counts as employed, but in the west the amount of employed persons in agriculture is 90% fewer but everything is mechanised, it is a crucial, enormous difference.

Yes by the global definition unemployment is 1%, but as with everything in economics is it great that Uncle Somchai and Auntie Sureeporn are on the farm employed but living on less than 300 baht a day? And that cousin Nattaporn is coming back from his 300 baht construction job for the rice season?

Don't bother....that is the best advice....don't bang heads in public with a FOOL. JTJ is a FOOL. A right wing NeoConservative who probably is part time employed by the Thai/US gov't....a troll in the most obvious sense. Just take a peep at his most pathetic RTP apologist posts during the Koh Tao murder cover-up.....oops, sorry JTJ...I meant....conspiracy!!! doooooooooooooooooosh. I meant, doooooooderinio. Ya, know, The Dude.

  6. So did it help that he was on a ducati or why mention the manufacturer and post a picture of a panigale?

I say, yes. Some might not have bothered to read the post if it had simply said, "Motorcyclist dies while speeding into parked pickup truck".

On the other hand, if you say, "Ducati rider dies in Bangkok....". Well, then you get attention

from those who want to see a wealthy douchebag who doesn't know how to ride and probably got the bike from a corrupt rich family, hence

making the whole story a "Som Nom Nah". I'm just speculating....ask yourself why it caught your attention....be honest.

Anyway, Bangkok is perhaps, one of the WORST cities for a sport-bike of that magnitude. Pure arrogance and ego to own and ride

that machine around the horrible roads and derelict drivers of Bangkok....you're asking for trouble.

I feel sometimes that my CBR650F is too sporty for this city, and it's horrendous traffic. Ride safe and never beyond your capabilities.

  7. I experienced first-hand the corruption at the land dept. My wife and I bought a townhouse in Don Mueang, and in just one week

after we closed with the bank, the home next to us started building a two story structure straight up from the property dividing wall! Totally illegal!!!!

We went down to the land dept to file a complaint and they were very rude to us, and resistant to file a complaint.

They said to us, "you should not do this, because you should just accept it, you will have to live with your neighbors."

"You should be a good neighbor and allow them to do it." I said, "Why don't they be good neighbors, and not do this?"

The land office person said, "Don't cause trouble." I WAS FLOORED WITH DISBELIEF!! Ready to go postal on them all.

I finally found out through some respectable neighbors that it is common for Thais to bribe the land dept in order to get

construction permits for illegal building......duh.......I had my suspicions from the get go, but now I am convinced.

We finally had a talk with the family who was doing this illegal building and compromised by having them make a few adjustments that

I could live with. Welcome to Thailand. wai.gif

  8. Usual type of response from the 'Elite' of this country. May as well have come right out with it and said ''How dare a minnion like you ask such an honest question ''.

Reform my arse....that's only for unimportant people !

+ what about Sutheps land purchase in Nakhon Si Thammarat that was somehow conducted when the land registry office was closed, shut down by PDRC supporters and his and his family's assetts were frozen? That one was nicely swept under the rug as well.

    You mean his son'

Everyone know this.....I don't follow, nor defend, any such tribe. I only comment on the actions by either party, red, yellow, military, etc....

I happen to think they ALL suck. I just see it for what it is. I have been outspoken about the Shins, the Yellows in the same manner,

and now it's the Royally stamped Military coup.....it is all the same.....business as usual. Nothing positive will come from this. It is simply

a mind massage for you to get back to your shopping whilst the "powers that be" can get on with their hoarding. Any takers?

  9. It looks like the Thai military are the richest military in the world too.

Let's stop bitching Ginjag for one minute and have a wee ponder as to how a General, and other Generals in positions of power and influence can possibly amass such fortunes through serving their country ???

Are you not in the least bit concerned or interested how these fortunes we're gained ?

Stop being such a hypocrite when finger pointing at the Shiniwatras for a moment and think rationally as to how on earth is it possible for High Ranking Thai a Officers to obtain such wealth ??

You know they say there's no smoke without fire, and he might be the PM but surely you simply cannot dismiss that these assets are indeed quite astonishing????

Gambling is illegal in Thailand, what exactly do you think you're doing when investing on the Stock Exchange ??? If the reason for these fortunes is from such a venture!!!

Fatty!! You walk the walk....Ginjag does not.

  10. There are some things that should be kept personal for the general, however this huge amount of family wealth is not one as it's of public interest. How dare reporters and posters discuss it, you will hurt his feeling's.

It was his father's land that was sold and Prayuth disclosed that he got a share of the proceeds. He didn't say it was the maids or drivers. The company mentioned wasn't set up by him but by the purchaser!

    Non story really!

What the hell does my father's and your father's assets have to do with a Thai military general's father's assets?

And by the way, thanks for the sweetness!

My father is a retired iron worker, he built bridges in New Jersey and New York, his assets were nil. Spent all on his 5 sons'

    education.

Do you not think it odd that someone in a high military position, whether it be here, or anywhere else, say Ameriker, has such gross family wealth? Or, are you that ignorant?

    ARE YOU?

  13. Good answer from the Premier.......

    Well no it is not.

He is a PM and as such he is open to all sorts of questions including his personal life.

    He declared the asset!

" Prayut reported in his assets declaration that a part of his assets came from proceed from of a land sale by his father for Bt600 million that was shared among his siblings."

What has his father's business got to do with him, an asset was gained and reported!

Do you seriously believe that his father's assets are totally clean? That maybe his father's assets are free from military corruption? Get real, dude.

  14. Animals, believing kicking a person in the head who is on the ground, cuffed and secured is barbaric. There is absolutely no justification for kicking a person who is down. I guess this is just thainess to hand out your own punishment. I bet this hero felt great beating up someone who couldn't defend himself. I bet he kicks over prams with babies in them and laughs also. Lowest piece of cowardly scum.

Exactly.....soon they'll be worse than the polizei in Amerika. This is as barbaric as Indian street justice.

There is no justification for ANY form of police brutality.

  15. Torture is not putting plastic bags on a suspects head. Torture is inflicting serious amounts of pain with hot irons, finger crushing pliers and beatings with clubs. This was just a Thailand style interrogation.

Any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person, information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions.

  16. Watch out Thailand the Chinese will play you off a break if you let them.

While the general tries to make out that all is ok back home investors looking to invest have a lot of options to invest in many countries through out Asia and will do it on their terms.

Thailand has the image of coups and shutdowns so investors are looking at more stable countries.

If your to desperate then things will go pear shaped very quickly.

    Right on.

  17. A few years ago a guy went to the US Embassy to apply for a new passport they confiscated it issued him s temporary one and told him to go back to the states and take care of his legal issue. I believe it was a child support thing. No reason why the IRS could not do the same or Embassy just refuse to issue you a passport due to IRS warrant.

The IRS cannot restrict a citizens right to "movement". There was a bill in 2012 that was never passed

that would have had passports confiscated if you owed more than 50,000 USD to the IRS.

I know, because I owe and recently had my passport renewed.

The IRS are thugs, pure and simple, mafia-like in the way they do business.
