  1. Yes, very good to point out. It will make it easier for people who are based here and do not have to go to uk. Can you confirm what you did to pay the thai embassy and for them to post. That would help others. I noted before that was an issue, that would be solved by having somebody in the uk to get the documents each time. I presume that to pay the thai embassy you could include a cheque, if they accept it. Or cash in notes. Or do they provide for payment by telephone. For the prepaid envelope to the thai embassy, how did you send that to them. If its a UK prepaid it would need to be bought in UK. Can you pay and they post it.
  2. I am now getting a translation into thai done here. Its normally necessary if married to a thai.. I am married to a thai and family registration in the amphur they normally want the translation so that they can enter into their system. Immigration may accept the documents in english, but check with them. For full legalisation here in Thailand the translation is required and it needs to be certified by MFA.
  3. As stated above, you probably need the marriage cerificate legalized in the uk. It was very hard to do ten years ago when i considered it first, but a bit easier now that i needed it.. I have just done it. You can now order legalization by the Uk FCDO office and that saves a lot of the earlier problems. Go to https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised it explains what you need to do. You can now pay online and order that docs are sent to an address. You must send original copies of cert to FCDO in UK. Obviously, be careful how you send it if its the original. I had a few original copies from the uk registrar, so i did not have to send the main original. Once UK legalized, it needs to go to the Thai Embassy in London for Thai legalisation. I was visiting the uk when I did this, so I got the Uk legalisation sent to a friend near london, picked it up and went to THai embassy walk in morning ( no appointment - took 15 minutes). They said it takes 3 days. I paid and gave them a stamped adrressed envelope registered first class and received it in Manchester 4 days later. If you are not in Uk then you need somebody there to do processing. attached FYI, Copy of legalisation on back of marriage cert.
  4. Check package prices with hospitals, including bangkok christian hospital. Also, if your doctor knows somebody at chulalongkorn, check if they can do it. It will be cheaper.
  5. An agent can do both for you. You have to sign the form giving them the authorisation. And in my experience yes allow 4 weeks.
  6. To Brightonman what BrandonJT was alluding to, is that there is another way to try to deal with the situation. I have no idea whether the family extension qualifies as a NON-O to then switch to marriage. I also have no idea wherther going from a non-b will be allowed. Its bad enough that from my expereience you cannot go to marriage. Dr Jack may be able to give advice. However, you need to think carefully about the sixty days. As i pointed out before, you have time to get the money transferred if you do it fairly quickly now and get another sixty days from going out and back in visa exempt. Or the family extension may provide it, but timing is critical. Giving a visa extension with no financial requirements seems far fetched. How are you going to live? Some posts i see suggest that for a family extension you may need to show proof of financial status. Easy for immigration to expect that you have have the money to support you and your wife.
  7. Stop making excuses now about your confusing a thai family extension that was not mentioned.
  8. If people contribute its best that they read the post, and do not start to insult others. No point in trying to assist an OP if its going to bring out the worst in some people.
  9. dont be start talking daft. You obviously cannot read english.
  10. Read the Post heading and the first post. if you want to tell him to do something else then make that ckear.
  11. Your post is irrelevant to the OP. He is referrring to marriage.
  12. I posted the marriage visa checklists from Chaeng Wattana and Hua hin in the post justr below. https://aseannow.com/topic/1352010-simple-question-for-this-idiot-about-non-o-marriage-multi-entry/#comment-19596444 Its the same for the first 90 day Non-O. Unless you can tell the OP where to go to avoid it.
  13. The last post from Josephbloggs is correct matching my knowledge. however most embassies need the evisa system and you will have to go outside for 7 to 10 days. Some places outside do not need the 400 k for the first non-o ninety days, but you will need to search. I did the simplest thing, go out and get visa exempt. its 60 days. then apply here for the first ninety day. However, to do that you will need the 400k in the bank the length required. If you get the 400 k transferred quickly now, you may be able to plan going out and apply when you come back in. You say you have 6 weeks, presume you have to get out then. You need to read the posts below that also concern what to do at work permit expiry. If you go out in 6 weeks, and get 60 days visa exempt on return. You could meet the 400k time period. Be aware that getting the first 90 day here needs alot of paperwork and can take 3 to 4 weeks from the application. I am still waiting after 3 weeks (but that did include songkran.) I posted the marriage visa checklists from Chaeng Wattana and Hua hin in the post justr below. https://aseannow.com/topic/1352010-simple-question-for-this-idiot-about-non-o-marriage-multi-entry/#comment-19596444 The other recent posts to read are https://aseannow.com/topic/1357404-my-situation-can-i-beat-the-system-of-a-marriage-visa/#comment-19726305 https://aseannow.com/topic/1355113-visa-options-after-work-permit-cancellation/page/2/#comment-19726377 https://aseannow.com/topic/1352405-non-imm-o-marriage-vs-retirement-based/#comment-19605957
  14. From experience and trying, no in bangkok and no in hua hin. This is not as easy as some like to think. I understand that agents can do it but the OP would be looking at two major counts. One for not normally be allowed to get the non-o from a non-b. the second for not having the 400k. Will be expensive. A lot of posts recently that the OP should have been able to find and need to be read. I will post to the OP to follow.
  15. It still needs the 400,000 as well as all the paperwork. If he has been working and earning enough then last years tax return will be accepted for income, but then there is still the need for the 400,000 baht in the bank from the earnings. If the OP posting does not have the 400,000 then bhe needs to get it transferred in to get it seasoned the length of time required. A lot of posts recently that need to be read. I will post to the OP will follow.
  16. So many with no interest on what is a real and for many a sad headline. Perhaps there is a new age coming? I will not add any of my own comment, just stick to posting somthing that i trust is simply either amusing or worrisome. I do not intend to reply to comments.
  17. Understood thanks rob. That is what i plan to do. I had the money in the bank this time much more, but they still asked for the tax return etc. I trust it was only because my first time marriage visa and because i was previously on work based visa. For the one year i do not intend to give them anything other than the bank statements with seasoned money.
  18. I saw the response earlier yes insane. TIT, OTT. but i did not comment. Perhaps i should so you can understand. The reason that i am doing the marriage visa (first time) is three fold. 1. To start a non o retirement again i would have to start from scratch and get the first outside unless i pay an agent. 2. I can get the marriage visa direct from a visa exempt entry without getting the first non-o outside. 3. I am expecting another job later this year and getting a work permit can be done here from a marriage visa, without having to go out for a non-b. Doing that has a lot lot more requirements and i would likely have to be outslde for several working days because of the new stupid visa processing. requirements
  19. Make sure that your marriage in thailand is fully registered at the amphur. It is not easy getting the non-o marriage visa here. Yes, can be done but there are a lot of requirements you must check out fully. It may be easier getting the non-o outside. You would have to check in japan. You must have the 400,000 baht in the bank the required period. For the first time application, I am not sure if the money has to come from outside thailand, like the retirement visa. Dr Jack may help to advise. First marriage visa non-o is 90 days.if you do not apply for the one year extension after the time reqiuired, then i presume you would have to do it again each time but i do not know and have no idea if/ what complications that would make. Some suggestions are that you come in visa exempt for 60/30 days. If you are doing 3m returns, check how many times you may be able to do that even by air. I only came back into thailand once in march after going out because of the expiry of my work permit. visa exempt entry, and the immigration officer at airport warned me to come back in next time with a visa.
  20. Understood thanks. We have to expect the tests were done to THai standards that are based on the western standards. China has standards, yes, many based well on western standards and many translated into english. They have to be identified on HSR works. They have built enough HSR in china, and have standards specific to HSR. We found that the chinese do not have to create specifications for a lot of HSR Project requirements to suppliers and for products because they are already in national standards. They have standard checklists for works that have to be used. For Civil works there are a large number. They do not have to create them from scratch (previous jobs etc) on each Project as we tend to do in the west. As well as rebar steel, High stength bolts can be just as serious a problem. Had major issues in two mega projects, false records for end product, one on a big airport terminal caused major cost and delays.
  21. Done for HSR, I dont know about the submarines. Review and inspections of HSR work have been confirmed including some testing of steel reinforcing See following link if the forum allows it. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16TT9ZJXgv/
  22. perhaps getting mixed up between mill certificates for the raw steel (billets) and reinforcement testing. I do not know what the MS is , do you mean mill cerificates for the raw steel. They include chemical composition. Please can you read what i said again. The vulnerability is normally in steel end product certification. Reinforcing steel has its own processing procedures that affect chemical composition. Reinforcing steel output requires chemical composition tests by the factory as well as other properties. There is the vulnderability that they can be falsified by a factory. The end product is a critical point for sampling and testing Standards for independent sampling and testing DO include chemical composition. "Key ASTM Standards for Rebar Testing: ASTM A615/A615M: This standard covers deformed and plain carbon steel bars for concrete reinforcement, specifying requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and surface condition. Mandatory Tests: Chemical analysis, tensile test (measuring yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation), bend test (assessing ductility), and dimensional measurements. " I have previously ensured that project specified requirements match standards, arranged sampling and testing, even done the sampling myself and witnessed testing many times. And i have reviewed testing laboratories for their compliance with standards. FYI, and for others reading, the review and inspections of HSR work have been confirmed including some testing of steel reinforcing (and it included chemical composition). See following link if the forum allows it. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16TT9ZJXgv/
  23. "For Sure" Where has that been established.? In my experience the comment is not appropriate. To my knowledge and experience it is extremely rare for the intial steel to be suspect, most of the problems found from reinforcing are due to faults in the rebar manufacturing process not in the steel supplied. The testing of the rebar itself is the critical point in the verification of the material and its properties. That is important to recognize. If suppliers of steel were provinding bogus test certificates they would be found out fairly quickly and be investigated that would result in closure of the mill. They would have to be idiots if they thought they could get away with it. Falsifying mill tests of the reinforcing or supplying substandard products can more easily happen without being detected if there is not adequate attention paid to independent sampling and testing of the bars. The testing of samples from site deliveries is specified in standards to protect against this.
  24. The reinforcing is all QC tested under requirements verified by the Supervision Consultant. Just the same as is required on all construction projects, including the auit office that collapsed. However, from what is happening now it creates concern whether it can be trusted. Its not just the HSR, there are many elevated structures for highways and rail lines. Your point is valid and FYI, the department of transport is already looking much more closely at the HSR work and there are extra tests already carried out this week on samples from some of the HSR steel reinforcing.
