I noticed but they were saying it was a picture of A TOU. From the comments it must not be a TOU. I will find out when i go and ask PEA what they have. If there are only digital TOU then I may have the same problem with excess Kwh The digital meter i currently have, has two sets of readings but is only counting on one. So i assume it must be a TOU, but we have not yet registered for the service. If the same meter will be used then I still have the problem. I have to speak to a neighbour. He has solar and they changed the meter to stop feed in, But his meter is still the old style with the rotating disc. I trust that I will find out better when I go to see PEA. However TIT ????

I had the original meter that was no problem. Nothing discussed or agreed concerning the meter. So I will have to sort this out with PEA myself. Its PEA in Hua Hin with their attitude to solar. They said that there was a problem with my consumption too low and came around to check. When they know I have solar, they insist to change the meter. Even if i have not been feeding back to grid. My installers work countrywide and they say that most places have no problem. Its Hua Hin that stands out. I am currently looking at getting the agreement to sell power to them, so that i can get money back.

South of Hia Hin there are several good places to visit. Look online, e,g. https://www.tourismthailand.org/Destinations/Provinces/Prachuap-Khiri-Khan/231 https://www.thailandee.com/en/cities/to-see-to-visit-in-prachuap-khiri-khan Must go to Sam Roi Yot national park, go to Pranburi beach and drive south along the coast. Very long and beautiful looking beach at Sam Roi Yot. It’s a protected area, there is not a lot of accommodation there but you will find good places on agoda and booking.com. Boat trip from dolphin bay. Sometimes see dolphins. Not sure what times in the year. Phraya Nakhon Cave. It’s a bit of a hike if you walk it all the way, and uphill the last half. Wear good footwear, take some water and an extra t shirt to change over. You can get a boat, short ride around the coast to save half of the hike, or get it back after going to the cave. There are some stalls and a restaurant by the beach at the place to go to the cave. There are a few more caves to visit. Look on line. They are easy to go to. From Sam roi yot you can drive south along the coast to Kui Buri. When you join the road from Kui Buri there are some small single villas to rent by the coat. There are not many restaurants, but there is a good one with seafood very close to the villas. Kui Buri National Park has animals and elephants. Check to find somebody that can take you on a tour. They will know where the animals are at the best time of day. Usually in the afternoon. On the way to the national park is a reservoir Yang Chum. Not a lot to see but worth a quick side trip. Prachuap Khiri Khan town. Its an old Thai town. Stay in the town for a couple of nights and have a look around. There is the big bay east of the town, Ao Noi very scenic, for beach and swimming best to go to Ao Manao the smaller bay to the south of the town. Very beautiful bay, good for swimming, they have deck chairs and shades. Stalls selling food. South of the main town down the highway south there are some good beaches and resorts, I am not so familiar with them.

Possible prostate issues or bladder problem?
jojothai replied to advancebooking's topic in Health and Medicine
Yes, a urologist. The problem of an enlarged prostate is referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. Sheryl has helped to clarify what is normally done. I have had tests 1 and 2 a couple of times, easy to do. Sheryl noted about checking for any infection. Note that if urine is remaining in the bladder, any infection you may get will not clear readily. The first time i went to a urologist for the problem, I had an infection that would not clear by antibiotics. The urologist prescribed the appropriate medication to use for the BPH, tamsulosin it works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the bladder. This eased the problem and antibiotics then cleared the infection. -
Thanks for the comments. My solar installer had now responded and confirmed that the problem is normally from any feed in. He has said that many clients are very angry because of the problem and insisting on more solar friendly meters that don’t double charge. He has said that I should request a TOU meter and that should fix the problem. They spin just like the old meter. Have to request at PEA and pay for the TOU and changing the meter.

Possible prostate issues or bladder problem?
jojothai replied to advancebooking's topic in Health and Medicine
Advice for what the urologist should want to do is in the following. The two tests 1 and 2 for bladder function are what in my experience is normal. Not had test no 3 yet "If you have unusual urges to urinate, your health care provider will check to make sure that you don't have an infection or blood in your urine. Your provider may also want to make sure that you're emptying your bladder completely when you urinate." Your provider will look for clues that might also indicate contributing factors. Your appointment will likely include a: Medical history Physical exam, which may include a rectal exam and a pelvic exam in women Urine sample to test for infection, traces of blood or other abnormalities Focused neurological exam that may identify sensory issues or reflex problems Tests of bladder function Your provider may recommend tests to assess how well your bladder is functioning and its ability to empty steadily and completely (urodynamic tests). These tests usually require a referral to a specialist, but testing may not be necessary to make a diagnosis or begin treatment. Urodynamic tests include: 1. Measuring urine left in the bladder. This test is important if there's concern about your ability to empty your bladder completely when you urinate. Remaining urine in the bladder (post-void residual urine) may cause symptoms identical to those of an overactive bladder. To measure residual urine after you have voided, your doctor may request an ultrasound scan of your bladder. The ultrasound scan translates sound waves into an image, showing how much urine is left in your bladder after you urinate. In some cases, a thin tube (catheter) is passed through the urethra and into your bladder to drain the remaining urine, which can then be measured. 2. Measuring urine flow rate. To measure the volume and speed of your voiding, you may be asked to urinate into a device (uroflowmeter). A uroflowmeter catches and measures the urine, and translates the data into a graph of changes in your flow rate. 3.Testing bladder pressures. Cystometry is a test that measures pressure in your bladder and in the surrounding region as your bladder fills. During this test, your doctor uses a thin tube (catheter) to fill your bladder slowly with warm fluid. Another catheter with a pressure-measuring sensor is placed in the rectum or, for women, inthe vagina. The sensor tells how much pressure your bladder has to exert to empty completely. This procedure can identify whether you have involuntary muscle contractions or a stiff bladder that's not able to store urine under low pressure. Your doctor will review the results of any tests with you and suggest a treatment strategy. -
My inverter is Deye SUN-5K-SG03LP1-EU. I see that you have a small export. After what you have said, and what Crossy said earlier I realize that i had not checked any export during the four days away. i have just checked and the daily graphs show small amounts as "Feed in" totalling about 700 Watt hours a day. This may be causing a problem with the digital meter as Crossy pointed out. I have to figure out how to totally stop any feed in to see if it changes things. Need to look at the inverter instructions.

Yes, the main breaker still provides to the other circuits I mentioned for airconditioner, water heaters.hob and oven. all the other circuits go directly from the solar breaker panel. I think i need to get them to take away the digital meter and put a spinning meter back, but one that does not reverse on feed in. They may want to check the digital meter first.

Thanks Crossy. Good to hear any suggestions that you have. I am not exporting power to grid. It is switched off. I have rechecked. The inverter has been measuring accurately against the previous meter for over 6 months with only a small creep averaging 20Kwh per month. That why i have to consider the new meter as a problem. It is measuring 2Kwh and more a day when we are away from the house and there is negligible power being used from grid, my battery is fully charged all the time when away. Just went away 4 days and came back to find the meter has gone up 12 Kwh. I have checked the daily graphs from the inverter for power purchased during each of the 4 days and there is some small power shown purchased during the day but negligible only in the order of 50 to 100 Watthours each day. I have to check all the settings on the inverter to see if i can identify anything that would take power from the grid. I quickly looked and cannot see anything that should. I am on "zero export to CT" and according to the manual power should not go back to the grid. I will see if i can turn off power from the grid on the inverter for next time we are away from the house, likely next weekend. I cannot see anything obvious to do this. I can ask the installation company

Thanks, that's another potential avenue. They fit the digital meter to prevent any reversing of the meter if you feed in to grid. That happens with the normal meters. I can ask if they have an analogue meter that does not reverse on feed in. I have seen analogue meter on one of the nearby properties with solar and I was told that PEA had already changed it to prevent feed into grid.

I have a villa in Hua Hin with solar installation hybrid with a 10Kwh battery. This does me for all our needs except aircon overnight. When PEA found out, they changed the meter to a new digital one, nearly a month ago. The new meter is consistently adding 2Kwh per day up to 3Kwh, even when there is nobody at the house and I am not taking power from the grid. I know the power produced, consumption, power purchased from grid, battery level, etc from the solar inverter and app. I have had the solar installation since early December 2022 and records of parameters since then. On the old PEA meter there was about 10 to 30 Kwh more electricity consumption reading from the monthly meter reading than from the inverter. Over 6 months, It averaged 20 Kwh per month, and I was not concerned with. However now with the new meter if there is an extra 2Kwh per day or more is 60+ Kwh per month , At 5 baht a Kwh that would be 300 + Baht per month. I know that i can go to speak to PEA, but do not know what to expect. Has anybody had or know of a similar issue and what was done? In western countries you can get an independent check done. If it shows extra then the electricity authority has to settle the issue and pay for the independent check. But if the meter is found to be ok. then the consumer has to pay for the independent check. I have no idea if there are any rights here concerning this issue. Probably not, but if anybody has knowledge i would be grateful to know. According to thai websites, the meters provided to PEA are supposed to be accurate within certain tolerances. I do not expect that should include for an extra 2 to 3Kwh per day. Any advice welcome please. I do not have anybody else tapping into my supply, there are 2 x 10 cable in and two 16 mmsq cable out to the house. Meter shown in the attached image.

There are many projects being built where there are massive similar activities over roads with traffic. Such as rama 2 elevated construction, where there was an incident not long ago. Beam dropped onto traffic. The roads will have to be closed if the new construction techniques cannot be adopted to save disruption. Many elevated MRT lines have been built in similar ways without many serious incidents. The issue is not to stop this kind of technique. Its all about adequate attention to safety, and adequate supervision of the work by qualified and experienced people without brown envelopes.

Something fishy with th electric bills ?
jojothai replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
As pointed out, the pool pumps may be consuming around 1KW each and could be a very big consumption if on all daytime. I recommend that you have the pumps running and switch off the aircons for two to three hours. (Perhaps when you go out shopping / eating etc. Take the meter readings before and after to see how much power they are consuming. Mutiply to the number of hours and days for the monthly bill. This will give you the consumption estimates for the pumps against your bill reading. -
Insect Warning.....Kill them, Kill them........NOW
jojothai replied to redwood1's topic in General Topics
I have tried it before a long time ago. it does not kill them. Its a repellant, they don't like it and scamper off. I don't think it lasted very long, maybe a couple of days around the outside porch and car port of the house in the sticks where i have most geckos. However, you may not want to be spraying this everywhere. Try and see if you like the smell. The best solution we used to have in the farmhouse of my wife's parents was a brother with a strong catapult. Used to be a expert at shooting them down. -
I also found Mucilin was no longer available the last one-two months. As pointed out on here, there are other alternatives available

British Embassy Affirmation of Residence
jojothai replied to FruitPudding's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I got the certificate from one stop chamchuri sq. I could not go to CW. NOTE: they say you have to go to the office that issued your visa. The one stop service gave me the certificate. Must have 90 day report. It cost 500 baht there, no receipt. It takes about one hour. -
Somethings crawling on us, but can't see them.
jojothai replied to 4MyEgo's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It does sound like prickly heat. If it was fleas you would be feeling it most on the legs, that's where they hop on most. Small baby fleas are not black until they feed enough, and are very hard to see. And as you said, you should easily identify if fleas are biting you. -

Certificate of residence question
jojothai replied to HKexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Those who complain about 200 baht may be lucky, if they can go to CW. FYI, I had to go to One stop as my visa is done there. They do not do post. It cost 500 Baht last Friday. No receipt. But quick application at separate window and they do the certificate for you in under an hour. So, thankfully it was relatively painless. -
FYI, The incoming wire from earth lead was 4mmsq. From checking codes i believe that is the minimum i should have. Then i have changed the E to N wire to the same 4mmsq. For the neutral main connection with 45 amp board, all the code advice i see indicates that it should be 8mm sq. I have therefore changed the 6mm wire to 10mmsq which is the next size i can get above 6mm. I have completed the changes today when i was changing the breaker sizes to address the problems i see in the initial installation. I spoke to somebody electrical i know and they agreed what i was doing as ok. If you may be experienced to advise any different then i would be pleased to hear any other advice thanks.

I just realised that i need to know what size of wire should be used from N To E. Looks 2.5 sqmm. Is that enough?! I have a 15 - 45 amp board. I think the earth wire to ground is 4 sqmm. Have to check but then should the E to N be the same size 4 sqmm. Also noticed that the wire from incoming main cable N to the N bar is 6 sqmm. If i use up to 40 amps, is it big enough. Does it need 10 sqmm? Thanks for your advice.
