  1. Also just had a quote from Malaysian Astro, when asked about English commentary,he said yes,i then asked him if that was guaranteed,as this was my only reason for getting it installed,he then replied he would speak with Astro HO and let me know asap,so basically he wasn't 100% sure.

  2. A terrible night,RIP to the 39.It actually started the year before when Liverpool played Roma in Rome, scores of Liverpool fans including a 7 year old boy with his father were slashed up before and after the game, scores more were injured by roma fans hurling glass bottles as fans left the stadium.1 year on,there was always going to be flare -ups,just very sad the way in ended up.

  3. UBC also confirmed to me today that there will be no English commentary on HD or any other channels.

Absolute piss take, have emailed Head office.Maybe if everyone rang in to complain, they might do something, then again..............

  4. The stupidest 'new law' seems to me to be the one regarding branded POS being banned in bars?,drive round anywhere, and spot the amount of beer/spirit adverts in bars/restaraunts.

Does this then mean the new Johnnie walker Red bar/club in Bangkok will have to close?,don't think so somehow.

  5. So,according to the World Cup Guide in this months True mag, from the 22/6-25/6, there will be 2 games kicking off @ 21.00 hours, and 2 games [email protected] and the starred games will be in HD,so no HD for Slovenia v England, but HD for USA v Algeria?.Also, unless you have 2 UBC boxes, you will only be able to watch one game per time for these 4 days. Her's hoping the other games are on Thai tv.

  6. Amongst others,Solution bar in Kata stands out for me,pool table, live sports, cold beers, and a couple of stunners working.Decent happy hour aswell 3-7,50 baht beers,100 baht spirits.

Where about in Kata is the Solution bar??

On the road that runs from opposite the indoor market on Patak road, down to the bottom road where club med is,easy to find, and loads of parking.

  8. What did you think would happen? The UK is an Island, with an Island mentality, (small minded) I'm English and proud to be so, however, there are way to many people in the UK that have never been any where…. Done anything or been anyone, who works all week, or not! And go on about the (not in any particular order) wars we have won, football and how they would run the England team, how to pull a bird, and be happy to tell you how much they know about everything. If you need to know anything in the UK, go to a pub on a Fri night, find the biggest bar fly and ask him…. Anything! Everything in the UK is dumbed down for the bone heads that now live there. Anything you say that doesn't fit their view or what they've seen on TV…. And you're a liar. Sorry to hear your family seems to be cast from the same stone. Time to move on, you've out grown them mate. The world is a big place, life a journey, not a destination. Good luck!

Obviously Mr Mae Tang you have been in an English Pub to much, I am proud to be English one of the most cosmopolitan races on the planet, My wife who is Thai has always been teated with respect from neighbors and friends , those who insult her, which i do not know of any, are not friends anyway,

I am English also, and have lived in Thailand for seven years.Have to agree totally with the first post, every time i return to the UK,which is normally once a year i notice more and more of the small town mentality way of thinking, the majority of people haven't travelled, and are very narrow minded in their views on subjects outside the town they are living in,as the above poster put so well,'Anything you say that dosen't fit their view etc'.

This way of thinking also seems common amongst some expat communitys here in Thailand.

  10. Kanaeng 2,the original, not the one at Chalong pier. From karon, get to Chalong circle, take the Phuket town road, past the police station, and look out for a huge yellow sign about half a mile on the right hand side with Kanaeng 2 written on it,turn right at the sign and follow the narrow road down to the end.

Consistently excellent food at cheap prices, right on the beach with great views, you can also take your own wine if you prefer.
