A lot of consternation about two sheets of paper.  I was asked to bring them.  I brought them.  They were taken from me.

Ok, it's very easy for me to copy things as I have a printer/scanner/copier at home, but we're only talking about two sheets of paper.  If the vaccination center doesn't take them you can always use them at immigration when you do your next extension.  ????

Yes, that's what i did. I had left over copies from my last extension. Seems some people didn't copy theirs, and some people did and they weren't needed.

Yes, I know. That's why I brought the requested photocopies.

I tried to give them over, but was told that they didn't want them.

This was at the Karon Orchid.

That's strange, everyone i know who went to Karon Orchid, myself included took photocopies and they were all taken from them. There was even one person next to me who was told to get his passport photocopied as he hadn't done it. Seems there was no consistency.

But, they never asked for copies.........of anything. Maybe because of all the Burmese present.

Copies of your visa and passport were required and mentioned on the check list of things to bring when you made your appointment. Mine were looked at at every stage of the process, but not 'checked' as such.

Thais get a sticker for each shot on back of ID card.  But still need certificate to get back into Thailand.  My wife just come back few hours ago.  No temp reading. Just glanced at the paper.

Yes, at the second point upstairs i could clearly see rolls of stickers on the desk, obviously for the Thais.

Once you have your paper showing that you've had two jabs, you have to swap this paper at Suvarnabumi airport where you will be given a world recognized certificate that you can show in other countries.

Thanks, but what if you are travelling direct from Phuket elsewhere, not suvvanabhumi?, not neccessarily now, but in the future?

They were there for the check of your passport copies (after the temperature taking, before the blood pressure taking), some might wander around a bit out of boredom, but I doubt they were actually supposed to do anything besides the check of the visas/copies.

i saw one walking around too, but never had my passport or visa copies checked anywhere along the process.

  7. i too was in Karon for my first jab. I didn't receive any sort of sticker in my passport to say i'd had the jab, did anyone else get one?. Apart from a bit of paper with the second appt date on which could easily be lost, how would any immigration outside of Thailand know i had been vaxxed if i needed to travel abroad to somewhere you need to show proof?. Or do you get something official in your passport after the second jab?

Yesterday they had 240 Covid extensions at 14:00.

After you received the Under Consideration stamp there is no need to keep the money.

For the final stamp you only need your passport.

Thanks, i have heard different things, one being yes you can use the money, but it must stay at 400k or above until the second stamp is recieved. I'm aware that only your passport is needed for the final stamp but just thought i'd check.

  9. I was also there midweek for my annual marriage extension. I arrived around 9.30, and it was busy because the vast majority of people were getting covid extensions, which is a seperate queue to the left hand side. By the time i left around 11.45 they were calling numbers 98/99 for  people wanting covid extensions, so it was quite busy. My actual time with the IO was 35 mins, the rest was waiting.

Whilst we are on the subject, does anybody know what the official line is on using the 400k needed for marriage extension whilst you are 'under consideration'?, can you use it, but not dip below 400k until you get your second stamp?

    Thanks

Last year I did a retirement extension 44 days before expiry. I told them that I was worried about a lock-down.

It was a Friday and they gave me my passport back the same day.

Phuket immigration will do it before 30 day due, but I think you have to have a valid reason that they will be satisfied with.

No days lost. Same date as before.

Hi, many thanks. I don't need it doing until 2 weeks/ 10 days before the due date, so i presume then no reason is needed?.

  11. Hi, has anybody done a marriage extension say 2 weeks earlier than the due date, if so, do you 'lose' days on your next extension, or does it start from the expiry date of your original permission to stay?.

I am aware that you can apply for extension no more than 30 days before your permission to stay ends, but i've read that certain immigration offices elsewhere in Thailand do the next extension from the day of application.

    Thanks

    Paul

  12. May 29th is a Saturday. So will the 'real' date be Friday 28th, or Monday 31st???.

Also, i do not think anyone will 'lose' any days already paid for.

“The COVID visa can be extended early within 45 days before the expiry date, just like other visas, but I would like people to come only one to two weeks early because we may need a couple of days to process the extension for some foreigners.

Did you try it @schlog? What did you think? I thought it was OK, quite liked the spicy aftertaste. It wasn't syrupy like some 9% brews. I wouldn't pay full price for it though.

And talking of strong beers I tried this yesterday. I don't recommend it. It tastes strong but that is it's only redeemong feature: characterless, vague lager flavour. Makes Carlsberg Special taste like a craft beer! Cheers Extra Strong is much better.

Couldn't quite work this out. When I checked, normal Leo is 5%, this new one is 5.1%???

I don't understand the idea of an updated KR2. I've asked my wife and ours is from when we were married in 2013 and we've used it before.

Its to prove that the person applying for an extension is still legally married. how else would an IO be able to check?. It's a 2 minute and 20 baht process to get an updated one, why anyone would run the risk of using an old one baffles me, as the IO is well within' his/her right to send you to get an updated one if its not less than 180 days old.

I was lucky enough not to need to, but they are no different from any other imm. office in that they make up anything they like and we have to jump through the ever changing hoops. Some are worse than others, as it seems Phuket is, but even Chiang Mai was so horrible to use that I gave up and used an agent to save my sanity.

Ive never had any issues with Phuket IO, if you have the documentation that is needed, and everything is in order, then they have no reason to refuse you your extension. A list of documents required is available on the PIV website, and it's very accurate.

Also the up to date Kor Ro 2 marriage certificate from the Amphur, last year was the 1st time I was caught with my pants (3rd year), was never asked for it before, so the next renewal going forward will include that in with the list of papers for provide them.

Correct, the KR2 should be no older than 180 days, however i got one a month before my extension just to be safe.

It was painted more than a week ago.

That curve is a strange one, it always requires an adjustment.

Which curve?, if your coming from karon to kata, you pass the indoor market on the left, and there is a very gradual curve before you reach the gold shop which is where the van was hit, there is by no means any sharp turn whatsoever,

The yellow lines were painted on sunday 16th and Monday 17th. The accident happened on Tuesday 18th.
