I take it they have waived the 30 day extension fee as people are forced to stay here or abandoned by their airline or tour operators.
then again I doubt it as parasites love to feast on one host as much as they can.
good news for the genuine people who cant leave, not so good for the overstayers who haven't attempted to leave, and have already exhausted their extension option, or havent attempted to apply for the embassy letter.

Nobody said they will be more lenient.... the requirements are already defined, albeit they likely will still vary around the country.
I didnt say they would be lenient, i was asking if people thought they would be.

OK, just checked with the lady, she says we went there on Friday, not Thursday. Apologies, my bad.
The days seem to have a certain sameness about them lately.
Friday i went, yes they were closed

I posted about this also a couple of days ago:
The boss there indicated they indeed plan on re-opening on the 1st.
Thanks Bob, must have missed that post. Fingers crossed.

Went to the Kathu one on Thursday - closed. Tried them because of easier access and supposedly less crowded than the main Phuket office.
A cleaner told us they will re-open on April 1.
Thanks Old Croc, i need an updated KR2 for extension. Ill wait for the Phuket Governor to announce it re-opening tho rather than the cleaner lol!.

Yes unless you can get proof of income from your embassy.
So, as we have discussed before, if it's a first extension based on marriage, and your embassy dosen't issue a certificate of income letter, then 2 months of 40k transfers is needed?.

Interesting about the tm30. I've had comments on thaivisa that the need for a tm30 may not be as strictly enforced at CW but who knows!
Thanks, but my question was regarding Kor Ror 2

I did this a couple of weeks ago and this is the paperwork needed:
- TM 7 Form
- STM 2 - You get these 2 at IO
- The regular passport copys
- Copy marrige certificate
- Copy ID card from wife
- Family photo
- Copy household (taibaan) registration of wife
- Notification residence (TM 30) Printed on paper
- Rental contract of your house
- copy household (taibaan) registration of your current adress
- Copy ID card of landlord/owner
- Copy household (taibaan) registration of your landlord/owner's adress
Thats all, I was missing some of these papers and got refused to apply. I had to go back - they was very strict about the TM 30! Just make a user and register TM 30 in your landlords name/info/ID card online like I did - tell your landlord first offcourse and do it on behalf on him/she. If your the owner then you do it with your info - have your wife with you as most is in thai luanguage, its done in 10 minute... & good luck!
This was at Koh Samui IO btw
Hi, did you need to produce an updated Kor Ror 2 to show that you were still married?, the same form they ask for when applying for a years extension?

Phuket is in a partial lock down. or shut down. They may be why the office is only doing certain things.
There are 3 Amphoes in Phuket province. Mueang Phuket , Khatu and Thalang. I assume you went to Mueang Phuket. The other 2 could also do the Kor Ror 2 printout.
Every office is closed, ive just checked, unless for births and deaths

Are you talking about all district offices in Phuket province or only about the office in Mueang Phuket district?
Hi Maestro, i'm talking about the main one in Phuket town, the only place in phuket that issues updated Kor ror 2 etc for visa extensions.

PST, does your letter actually state that it's for end of April? Would immigration accept a letter a month old?
the letter mentions my current permission to stay, yes. That is almost the end of April, but within a month of todays date. Im not sure if any rule has been set regarding how long the letter is valid for?
-
Not sure if ill need mine or not, but applied for one anyway, received my letter from the BE today via email after about 3 days. The letter is dated today, but it explains my circumstances should i need to use it at the end of April.

"All foreign nationals are now barred from entering Thailand except in certain circumstances. Foreign nationals with work permits in Thailand will be allowed to enter, but they will need a fit-to-fly health certificate."
Thats from UK In Thailand, latest update, no mention of insurance or covid test, just 'fit to fly'
-
Just a heads up for anyone in Phuket needing Marriage docs or updates etc, Phuket are only open for Births and Deaths, that's it until further notice. I'm presuming that immigration are aware of this for people needing updated KR2 etc for visa extensions.

Thanks again Peter, and everyone for all your help on this. I'm going to roll with option 3, and do a small test transfer first.

Thanks, much appreciated. Regarding TW, i presume i need to set up some sort of account?, do i then simply give TW the sending and receiving banks details, and the amount, then TW does the rest?

Only 3) is certain.
2) and 4) may depend on whether your foreign bank goes via another clearing bank. In my case, having a Bangkok Bank acct, I know 4) is good too.
In general I would say 2) is best as Transferwise offers the better rates, you know for sure how much you receive as the rate is locked by T/W, and no charge when it arrives at BB.
2) dosent mention transferwise, its international swift.
-
Ok, so basicaly, i have the following choices,,,,,
1) Stay with my current bank scb, and use transferwise
2) Stay with my current bank and use an International swift transfer
3) Open a Bangkok Bank account and use Transferwise
4) Open a Bangkok Bank account and use International swift transfer
Correct?, which option would save me messing around with credit advise reciepts etc etc, and which option is the best in general???

If your swift transfer arrives as a domestic (SMART) transfer you simply go to the intermediary Thai bank and obtain a Credit Advice Receipt. If it arrives domestic (BAHTNET), it has arrived via BOT so you go to your own Thai bank to get the Credit Advice Receipt.
Just remember the exchange rate with SWIFT will be lower than Transferwise.
So i can go to any local intermidiate bank?

He was applying for extension.
Yes, but looking at the list of documents, it was for a year. You dont need financials for a 60 day extension.
-
You can extend any 90 day entry of a NON O by 60 days based on visiting your child. That may give you some leeway. This is a standard extension, nothing to do with Covid.

How about International Swift transfer from my UK Bank to Bangkok Bank?, would that come in as an FTT?
-

That is not required to get a 60 day extension to visit a Thai child. It is only required to apply for a one year extension.
Thanks UJ, i was unaware of that.

What are people opinion on the x2 40k marriage option for yearly extensions based on the current situation?, less likely, or will immigration be more lenient? getting 400k together quickly is alot harder than 2 months of 40k transfers.
