The PM late last night ordered a continuation of lockdown until 31st May, so Tambons in Phuket will remain closed/locked until further notice.

Thans Peter, that had been my original plan until the covid thing hit. Now I juzst wanna get the 1 year so I don't need to worry about visas for a long while...I just want a simple life lol.
So your funds have been in the bank for 2 months up till June 8th to enable you to get the years extension?.

Chaotic is correct by the looks.
Only possibilty would be organized buses but with social distancing would prove very problematic .
Im sure they will find a solution to the isssue in due course.
I really hope those who want to go are allowed it must be really hard for them at the moment.
The Scenes at Kathu are mad, no social distancing whatsoever, only takes 1 person to be infected then it will be taken to a whole new bunch of areas

If you have to possibility you should renew your extension as normal.
The amnesty is mainly for people who don't have a possibility to go to the immigration office or to leave the country.
Yes, i agree, but if the Tambons open up which is looking likely, then everyone should then be able to visit immigration as normal. I understand people who are doing border runs etc would use the Amnesty.

I will be going for my marriage extension as normal when it's due around mid June. If peoples annual extensions are due before the 31st of July, why would you not go as normal and do them rather than wait till the chaos on 1st of August??.

Thanks for replying, but apparently not because Central is in the Wichit Tambon!
Go from Patong via Kata/Karon, then to Central. Its only the 5 areas within each Tambon that are closed, not the whole Tambon. Patong to Central will be as normal

Yes, I looked at a map of Phuket just after I posted and I did add a PS to my post because I realised that Wichit encompassed the main area of Phuket town which I was interested in visiting.
More research needed on my part, so back to the Phuket map!!!!!!
you should easily be able to get to Central from Patong

It says all three areas to have checkpoints............so what about leaving Patong to go to Chalong or Phuket Central store?? Not sure if they mean that access to Bangla Rd will mean access to Patong will be curtailed??
PS. Just looked on the Phuket map and it seems like Central is out of the question.....now waiting foe any news that will allow me to stock up on wine!!
The areas that will remain under quarantine are:
- Patong: Bangla Rd
- Cherng Talay: Bang Tao Moo Baan 2, 3 and 5
-
Koh Kaew: Moo Baan Prachasamakhee, in Moo 2
– All three areas to have checkpoints on the roads into and out of the area, proactive screening and strict measures for residents to refrain from leaving their homes - Rassada: Moo 2, Soi Bang Chee Lao
-
Chao Fa Garden Village, in Wichit
– both areas to have proactive screening and strict measures for residents to refrain from leaving their homes
The way i read it, if it is approved, is that you can travel to and from anywhere in Phuket apart from the 5 areas listed in each district mentioned.

From the Phuket News
However, he did confirm the automatic visa extension does apply to all visa types.
Asked specifically whether the extension apply to one-year visas, he said, “Yes, the extension applies to all visa types.”
Surely if your one year extension/permission to stay is due between now and July 31st, you would just go and do it on the date you need too?, what would be the point in waiting?.

Watch That mate, I Went to Immigration Yesterday to Extend my 90 Day Permission to stay on my Non-Imm " O " Which was due to expire on the 30th April, I Was Denied the " Free One " But They DID Sell me the 60 Day extension based on Marriage & Told me NO MORRE Unless I have 400k in the bank......Baffled Me, But You daren't Argue with them Even when you think THEY are in the Wrong !!
If your non o was due to expire on 30th April, then there would be no 'free' extension, as the 30th April was the date when the initial 'free' extensions were due to expire, plus any 'free' extension would not have been 60 days either. The only option if you can't do a border run on a non o are 60 days based on marriage, or a year with 400k in the bank for 2 months prior. New announcement will change things obviously, but after your 60 day extension is up, are you then covered untilll 31st July?

Can anybody tell me the exact details that need to be included in the letter that is needed for immigration, and does anybody have an written example, also does the letter need to be stamped and signed?.
My Bank in Bangkok Bank.
Thanks in advance

Strict checkpoints on kata hill heading to Chalong and the viewpoint heading to Rawai for 4 days now, unless you have a valid reason to cross then you can't. The complete blocks will start 13th.

Anyone wishing to do a years extension in the next few months from a non o may be wise to get the 60 day extension from their local immigration office first, as i doubt that the 1/2 month visa waiver would be accepted when it comes to having proof of 400/800k in the bank for 2 months prior to the years extention, if it was accepted i can imagine it causing issues.

Are there seperate queues for 'normal' extensions, or do you need to queue in the same line as tourist/covid extensions?
-
Hi Bob, thanks My wife yesterday also called the boss, and she said we should be able to get one today (31st) after 9am.
Thanks.

The Amphurs on Phuket only do Birth and Death certificates at the moment.
The Mueang Amphur in Phuket Town will issue the Kor Ror 2 / 22 again from today.
Ive just returned from there, and they are NOT issuing it yet.

If an office is asking for the Kor Ror 2 that is not really a requirement to apply for a 60 day extension they should not require it if the Amphoe is not issuing them due to the emergency decree.
As of now, the main Phuket Amphur in Phuket town ive been told are issuing KR2

I do not know if Immigration would waive this requirement (or, perhaps, allow the family member to attend visa video link) in view of the exceptional circumstances.
If you need more than 60 days, it becomes a little trickier. You will need 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for starters. You must also have either an official marriage certificate in Thailand, or a Thai child where your status as a parent has been legitimised. You can then apply for a non immigrant entry of 90 days without leaving Thailand. Near the end of the 90 days, you can apply for a one-year extension of stay.
Or if you are already on a non o then you can use the x 2 months of 40k transfer method to apply for a years extension ( based on marriage) if its your first years extension from that visa

If I had been given a notice on entry, that I would not be welcome in Thailand should the CV19 situation get worse - I could have made an informed decision. I doubt many could have predicted their response.
they were told to leave twice, once after their second extention, and once after their 7 day extension,,,but made no effore on both occasions, and never even applied for a letter. Many people simply cant face going home, regardless of the covid situation

Not in person and not in general - I have not heard immigration asking people to leave the country. I personally have a letter from my embassy stating that I am unable to return to my country at the moment. Still I was not able to get the extension.
I know of several people who have been told to leave by immigration after exhausting all their options including a 7 day stamp. They have made no effort to get home the past 2 weeks, and havent even applied for a letter from their embassys. They are happy just to 'see what happens'. So again, not about you.

Can't imagine anyone wanting to stay with everything closed.
You'd be suprised, any excuse not to go back, even though they have been told to go by immigration.

Whist this is good for tourists who genuinely can't get home, i do feel the 'cant go, wont go' home crew are delighted too as many of them are starting to overstay now.
And if it is true, then it means a tourist would get 90 days, but an O holder coming to the end of permission to stay, can only get 60 days??, and then may have to jump through hoops to get a year after that???

Tambon Lockdown Continues
in Phuket
Posted
From Richard Barrow
Thailand’s government passed an executive order late Wednesday mandating that “all orders whether prohibitive measures, relief measures, or actions” will be continued until amended by the government.
♦️Government says all emergency orders extended until the end of May; jeopardizing easing measures https://www.thaienquirer.com/…/government-says-all-emergenc…
Basically, this means that any lifting of restrictions that you may have read about are now on the back burner until further notice. No lifting on the alcohol ban. No opening of parks and restaurants.
