  1. If I may be so bold, could I please interupt for one moment W.W.

It appears there may have been a bit of misunderstanding, most newcomers to this thread, whilst it is not compulsary, introduce themselves via this link:-

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Football-Forum-t154842.html,

many haven't known about due it to the amount of information on the sight,or were too preoccupied by wanting to reply quickly to a thread close to their heart.

Very few join up and get stuck in straight away with an indepth analysis of the state of football in present day Europe. Hence I suspect a bit of a suprise by some members here.

Whilst I have only been actively participating in Thai Visa for just on a year now I have always found the Lads & Lassies of this section to be good value, fun to read & mostly witty in their banter.

Please let me use this opportunity to welcome you to the Football Topics, enjoy yourself and have fun, we can't solve all the problems of the football world (Though at times over a few jars most of us think we could) and as someone mentioned before tell us a little about yourself and you might find we are not such a bad lot after all.

    Cheers & Chok Dee

and Sorry if I took up too much time.

    L.K.

  2. What about this amusing piece from The Guardian :-

Slaven Bilic is the hot favourite to take over as the next West Ham manager.

Slaven Bilic has ruled himself out of the race to become the next West Ham manager.

Harry Redknapp is the man the top brass at Upton Park want to be the next West Ham manager.

Harry Redknapp is oh-so-happy at Portsmouth and does not want to be the next West Ham manager.

Tony Adams isn't quite so happy at Portsmouth and he's as short as 16-1 with the bookies to become the next West Ham manager.

Davide Ballardini is a tough-as-old-boots former Cagliari coach and is Hammers' technical director Gianluca Nani's choice as the next West Ham manager.

Pierpaolo Bisoli may have only managed a village under-12s side somewhere in Tuscany but he's has been identified by Nani as the next West Ham manager.

Paolo Di Canio loves West Ham with all his heart, both lungs and one of his kidneys. He's a shock contender to be the next West Ham manager.

Roberto Mancini doesn't love West Ham with any vital organs. In fact, he may never have heard of them. But he's got three Serie A trophies on his CV, he's as Italian as pappa al pomodoro, so he's in the running to become the next West Ham manager.

Sam Allardyce isn't Italian but he once ate out at Pizza Express and he's still among the favourites to be the next West Ham manager.

Avram Grant has more points to prove than a baker of conical bread and is desperate show them all, show them all I tells yer, by becoming the next West Ham manager.

Sven-Goran Eriksson has got more Italian connections than Milan train station, so he's on the radar to become the next West Ham manager.

Stuart Pearce once played for West Ham, he's in charge of a football team, so he's among the frontrunners in the race to be the next West Ham manager.

Louis van Gaal is always linked with jobs in the Premier League. That's why he's one of the candidates to become the next West Ham manager.

In other West Ham news, the Sun reports that two senior Hammers players had a "bitter fight" after the 4-1 win over Blackburn. Sources suggest several pints of Pedigree, half a Ringwood's Boondoggle and three bottles of Old Speckled Hen were wasted in the battle. Those dressing-room rumbles will have to be sorted out by the next West Ham manager.

  3. Stay tuned for Berbatov vs. Keane. I doubt Torres will be fit to play against United. Perhaps this next match it can be Keane up front with a 5-man midfield. Debut for Riera? Is Pennant still with us? He can't even get on the bench? His career is going nowhere at Liverpool, it has to be said.

What's the word on Steven G. is he going to be fit for the Man U game ? and without Torres, you might be lacking a bit of bite, though I don't suppose is a leaseback arrangement for Peter Crouch on the cards is it ?

    :o

  4. Anyway whoever comes in must be able to take a lot bull manure and I just hope it isn't Fat Sam, Neil Warnock , George Graham or Glen Roeder.

    Souness?

    Stuart Pearce

Well you'd have to be a bit "Psycho" to take to take the job..... :o

  5. Hello,

I'd like to know if anyone has experience with opening a consulting firm. I would like to provide English language consulting services to companies in Bangkok. My main concern is finding clients. I believe this would be the make or break for this type of business.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    thanks

This post strikes me as being very forward. I have worked as a consultant in the past and doubt whether I would part with the knowledge and experience you require for free.

However I admire your gall and wish you well in your endeavours.

Reason for edit was to correct a spelling mistake

  6. Just heard on the grapevine from a very reliable source at my local, that Curbs is to become Fergies assistant at O.T.

    :D

There's nothing wrong with my sources' timing, it's just that his tip-offs are terrible, that's the last time I buy my old wino mate any more sauce.

    :o

Hey Red do you remember the time when nearly everybody out there in football-land were slagging off Man U. for being such a rich club ? It's gone awfully quiet of late.

Word is that even Everton have the prayer mats out and praying to Mecca.

  7. Dear Rimping, Tops, Etc.

Buy more Mainland Extra Tasty Chedder! Buy less Mainland Gouda! dam_n it!

There I said it and I feel better.

    I'll 2nd the motion. (Please include Phuket's Tesco/Lotus & Big C, the problem is countrywide I fear) :o

  8. Sorry Steve, this info was directed to the OP, just clarifying your F1 cost which was exclusive of the immigration fee.

Sounds like you either do the Phuket Town run or you are no longer on the island.

    Regards. L.K.

  9. I have not been on a visarun for years, but does F1 not still charge 1,000 Baht?

But even so, a price comparison of a 1/2 day visarun by bus with a trip of a few days including 2 flights is a strange comparison.

Last I heard this was the fee to go & come back, though you still have to pay 500 Bt for the visa stamp in Burma (which is only US$10 to Burma Imm. if you do the trip yourself)

It is possible to do the trip on public buses there and back and sort out your own long-tail boat ride (which isn't difficult) and I have even heard of the odd person riding their Honda Dream there & back (Remember I did say odd person)

Having done the trip many times I now drive myself and leave North Phuket at about 4:30 am, get to Ranong about 8:00 ish and back home in Phuket about 1:30 all done and dusted for about 1000 Bt gasoline, 200 - 400 Bt for L/T Boat (depending on whether you share the boat or not) and $10 American for Burma Imm. Thus you can stop when you want, smoke when you want, play Twisted Sister at Max decibels or whistle "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" if your heart so desires.

If this and the above info is not enough for you please consult the advertising section of any copy of the Phuket Gazette, where several "Visa Run" companies advertise their wares.

Cheers & Have A Pleasant Journey & Don't forget to write a report on your journey, we shall expect to see a copy (in triplicate) in our offices no later than 9:00 am on the day following your trip.

    :o

  10. Refund on tickets???

BULL S&$T. I had to buy a new ticket with Air Asia on monday as the sunday flight was unable to get to. now the airport is closed again and I am flying tomorrow.

I swear if they do not refund this ticket if I cannot leave, there will be some fists flying behind that air asia counter! Trying to get off the island has costed me more than 6000 baht on tickets, and still no luck.

    and busses... no thanks...

I'm confused, Phuket Airport reopened on Sunday 31st Aug and has remained open ever since hasn't it ?

    Please explain.

  11. Well with either Istanbul or Uskudar to choose from I will decline the choice as I am still in a mild case of shock. You see I cannot explain what it was that when I first saw that image, I said to myself "that's the Bosporus" I have never been there and no little more about the area apart from what little I learnt about the it's strategic position (certainly in the "Great War"). So I'm off to buy a "Ticket in Tatts" (that's a lottery ticket for unenlightened) as I reckon I'm hot at the moment.

Somebody satisfy the poster and take my turn please.

  12. I had to check the calendar to make sure we hadn't slipped into April.

Settle down BJ, I know it's honeymoon time, and like all true sports fan I wish your team well, but don't forget there is a lot of football to be played between now and next April (Yes I know the F.A. Cup is in May)

Enjoy the moment, but don't forget who you are going to be waking up with in your Eastland's bed for the rest of your marriage.

P.S. Is it true pork pies are off the menu at Eastlands ?
