  1. Was staying in a place, think it was up Sukhumwit Soi 10 - anyway one afternoon when i was out of the hotel, a French fukwit and his asian chick (didnt find out if she was Thai) checked in one day and broke into the rooms on second floor (including mine), ripped the safes off the walls, took them into their own room, and proceeded to jemmy them open, stole the valuables then left same afternoon. Police said they had done a few similar jobs over the past couple of weeks.

    Be warned.

  2. Why does the advance in technology take so long to get here?

Maybe lack of competition in a closed shop environment. If you are unhappy with your network supplier, what can you do in Thailand? You have 3 choices, Krap, Krappier and Krappiest! The trouble is that the Network that attains Krap status can deteriorate to Krappiest in a very short time. So really no choice.

Allow some decent foreign competition in, and a level playing field. Thai managed companies don't understand the concept of "Customer satisfaction", they only understand 'The customer should be happy with what we give them"

With no competition, the customer has no choice but to accept the poor service.

And so Thailand remains "amazing" and perhaps a hug of backward movement or stagnation.

    Land Of Stagnation.

  3. All garmin models will work here! All gps units will work here

The only thing you need to know is if the Thailand map will work with your unit.

Yes, thats what i would like to know if all Garmin Nuvi models will work with ESRI maps?

I am now looking at a Nuvi 760WT from UK, getting a good price on it.

I want Bluetooth hands free, plus its got MP3.

Nice unit, That's what I have

    To Bpraim1:

Please – to put my question to rest – Will/should the Nuvi 760wt (purchased from UK) work with Thailand ESRI maps?

    And my next poser

The specs I read for the Nuvi 760wt (from UK sellers) stated it cant do the GEOTAGGED PHOTO thingy. But researching other models on sale in Thailand, (I think it was 200 series Nuvi), they state it has the GEOTAGGED feature, yet the same 200 model from UK does not have the feature. Now I am not sure exactly what this GEOTAGGED stuff is all about, or if indeed is of any significant use, but the little I have read about GEOTAGGED makes me want to have this feature also.

  4. To OP, sorry for hijacking!

Now i see the 215w advert from Gadgetrend. I like the split screen junction view. Not sure if this feature is available on the 205w.

Also, states it works over Bluetooth for hands-free phone setup. Does anybody know if this feature works will all Bluetooth phones?

Because a while back i read somewhere that it only works with certain mobile phone models. I cant remember what Garmin model that was.

Big downer is the difference in price between 205w and 215w!

  5. I am looking at purchasing a Garmin Nuvi 205w.

I can buy it when in the UK for about 126.GBP. Gadgetrend Thailand is quoting 12,900.THB, that works out around 100.GBP more expensive to buy it in Thailand.

However, I want Thailand ESRI maps, and have no need for UK/European mapping.

In the long run, what is the best option? Buy UK, then purchase the latest ESRI maps?

I would like to know if i do this, can i remove the UK/European maps entirely from the system, and load only Thailand ESRI maps?

Or will it be better to just get the whole deal unit and maps from Gadgetrend/Plantip Plaza?

  6. Hey, but wait a minute, does it not depend on which foreign country the British expat is expatting in?

I never understood this logic, why in some countries the pension wont be freezed and in others it is.

Surely its coming out of the same UK government coffers. (the coffers which we duly paid into with our NI contributions)

What is their official excuse on that one?

  7. Yeah, I'm in Bangkok.

So your saying for a landline calling me from Germany, it would be 00 66 2 then the last 7 digits of my 8 digit number, so no 08 and no first digit of my number, is this correct?

    Regards

    Ivantheterrible

your number here, for example........ 08 123-45678

you would dial from a cell +66 8 123-45678 not sure of the land line

    Agree.

But the OP states he has an 8 digit number?????

Thought all mobile numbers were adjusted to 10 digit numbers a couple of years back?

to get the plus in case you arent aware you just keep the 0 pressed till it appears

  8. For "mutual hallucination", there's also shared hallucinations, such as in DSM-IV's Shared Psychotic Disorder:

Folie à deux (translated, "a madness shared by two") is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which a symptom of psychosis (particularly a paranoid or delusional belief) is transmitted from one individual to another. The same syndrome shared by more than two people may be called folie à trois, folie à quatre, folie à famille or even folie à plusieurs ("madness of many"). Recent psychiatric classifications refer to the syndrome as shared psychotic disorder (DSM-IV) (297.3) and induced delusional disorder (folie à deux) (F.24) in the ICD-10, although the research literature largely uses the original name.

    Land Of Syndromes

    Everything is becoming clear now.

Thiks (Thicko’s or thickhead’s) like they dont want us any more ! (they still want me )

They dont need our $$ ars ! (but they don’t want my 2 dollar a*s)

They have sized mld from Thaksin, (they have size medium, large or damn big - meaning Thaky tore them a new a*s /screwed them over)

its enough for the moment 1 (at present his a*s can only accommodate 1)

After next election again ! (typo: just you wait until my next erection)

    farang (original name)

  10. I've lived in Spain for many years and it's just as offensive there to walk around the City, enter a restaurant or hail a taxi topless as it is here. The logic being in a taxi/restaurant if you're covered in suntan oil/cream,the next client will be too!

If you go to Ibiza City or anywhere outside of "Lager Lout" San Antonio even on "party island",you will seldom see any tourists uncovered away from the beach area,Barcelona also.

Italy,Portugal are the same plus most Southern European nations!

You sure? I was in Southern France one time and they were going around f*cking bottomless!
