Are you bankrupt ? if not you can do it form here, however if it was a court order you can go and do a means test, you can show you cant afford it and offer 20 pounds a month, infact that too can be done from overseas,.
Is that correct? You can declare yourself bankrupt from Thailand?

Moaners are at it again about how dismal Bangkok and Thailand is when Thailand has just been voted in London as:
1) Best Value for Money in the World
2) #3 in the World for Authenticity
3) #3 in the World for Friendliness
4) #4 in the World for Nightlife
5) #4 in the World for Shopping
Does it not occur to you to question the subjectivity of this report? It was created by a branding company which lists countries included in the survey as its clients.
Thailand did not make the rankings for:
History
Art & Culture
Resort & Lodging Options
Ease of Travel
Safety
Rest & Relaxation
Natural Beauty
Beach
Fine Dining
Outdoor Activities & Sports
Families
Rising Star
Standard of Living
Ideal for Business
Easiest to do Business
New Country for Business

This is interesting.....
I have UK debit card, and Kasikorn Bank (Visa Electron card).
So if I register both with my PayPal account - i can effectively move funds?
Cheaper than Bank Transfer? Or Western Union?
Or, call me a big galloot if I've missed the plot!
-
Err.... its working now.
Did you (somebody) do anything?

If you buy one of those tiny security cameras and hook it up to your PC, direct the camera at your safe, you can then logon remotely over internet from anywhere in the world - and watch the buggers steal your stuff!
Of course you would have to hide the computer somewhere. (Not many lofts in thailand are there?)
So your computer goes in the safe! (Or dig another hole/pit in the ground)

Now it's changed, must have gotten itself stuck
I have same problem. Changed my Avatar, but still no worky!
Old one always appears with my new posts, but the new Avatar is displayed in ''My Controls''.
Have logged in, logged out, re-booted, changed my slippers,
re-freshed cache, moustache, flashed, and trashed this <deleted> PC!

I too work abroad, but visit Thailand during my time off.
So whats the best move, if you dont (cant be ar$ed) going all the way home to open a bank account? (in my case UK)
Put it in Singapore or Hong Kong...
So i can jump on a plane and turn up in Singapore or Hong Kong and open a suitable bank account there? What about residency problems?

I made a mistake boasting about this lovely Beach, now it is called PATTAYAMaigo mentioned in another thread that mentioning his home area in Thailand might bring hords of Farangs, Pizza shops etc (or something to that effect)For those not in the Farang Ghettos, who have found a quiet 'relatively Farang Free' corner of heaven on earth - Do you keep that to yourself for fear of a Farang invastion or are you happy to share your find?
(Of course this might be a relatively Farang free corner in an otherwise Farang Ghetto).
Whoa! Is that bugger driving down Walking Street?

When our house was being built, I had a brainwave idea to include a ''safe or strong room''. Not really a room but a hidden pit built deep into the floor inside one of the cupboards.
My previous experiences with those twirly dial safes used to pi$$ me off no end, an electronic safe, with a digital panel for inputting your combination. Power to the electonics is with AA batteries. When the batteries expire, and you dont have any replacement batteries to hand, you can prize off the panel and there is a lock underneath in which you can open with the supplied backup key.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, me and the missus split-up, i get to do what i want with the house, but she owns the land underneath, including the safe and all the gold bullion!

Dudemeister - have you considered changing your Red/Blue flags for Red/Yellow ?
Regarding the dog's expression, I understand he was also smuggled across a border - but was stuffed in a much less pleasant location.
Sorted.

I'm with GlobalHealth www.globalhealthasia.com my policy covers the world except US unfortunately I don't remember the cost (must have been reasonable).
Thanks for that Crossy - have emailed them for an online quote.
It seems to be the travel insurance is the problem - as i am registered non-resident UK, companies in UK not covering me.

I think though, are Thai wives of farangs worried more about their man going with other Thai women? Because, if he married Thai, that means that he likes Asian women and that means that he will be more likely sedused by other Thai women. For some men Asian women are not their cup of tea, so their western wives are not as worried, isn't that true?
i absolutely hate this saying, but as one of my male friends told me recently- "any hole is a goal"
......as long as it has some fur around it
I think 'grass on the pitch' be the saying.
Probably finds himself ''off-side'' quite a lot
-
Yep. Thats fine by me also.
-
Just a note:
i did a passport renewal in Bangkok around this time last year (Xmas/NewYear) and it took 3 weeks, due to all the festive drinking parties and days off to be had by the consul staff.
-
There is a difference I said open ticket which means there is no date for the flight. No need to get a refund or change the ticket every time you come in.
I have done it before but it was to Singapore.
Yep understood ubonjoe - an open ticket - that will be the one for me.
-
Yes it is the airlines.
Another option is to get a full fare open ticket to a nearby country. That would be good for a year and could be changed or refunded later.
Clicked the wrong button on my previous post.
Yes i like the sound of that option. Thanks again.
-
If you have a valid Thai visa then the 'onward' proof of travel is not required. I've been caught out with this rule a couple of times, so I just buy a full fare ticket Phuket to KL with my credit card, and once in Phuket just trade in the ticket for a full refund to my credit card.
-
Thanks for the link ubonjoe, i will throw this to my admin peoples.
And thanks for that info Livinginkata.
I presume the main problems are with the airlines at check-in and not actually the immigration at arrival Thailand?
-
I work in Central Asia, and on time off have been flying frequently to Thailand with a return ticket provided and paid for by the company which I work for.
(I know the next bit reads like i am being fired - but if not.......)
For whatever reason, my employer is now providing a 1 way ticket 'home'.
And another e-ticket will be emailed to us whilst 'home' for the journey back to work in Central Asia.
For 95% of my colleagues, 'home' is in the EU.
As my 'home' is Thailand, i think i may require a return ticket/onward flight, to satisfy the airline desk in Dubai, and/or immigration in Thailand.
Anybody had similar problems and can point me to the official ruling on this, so that i can throw it at my boss and demand a return ticket?
