  1. Yesterday I received from Immigration my first 90 day address reporting return slip. Took approx 2 weeks to process.

Immigration also returned copies of my passport and a blank TM47.

Stapled to the return slip is and I quote 'next time please return the original'. I presume this means return the original slip with date of next reporting together with completed TM47 and that copies of my passport are not required. Can anyone please confirm?

As I gave my Pathumthani address (not actually in BKK), it would appear that 90 day address reporting by mail has been accepted at Immigration Chaeng Wattana Road.

    Regards

  2. On 23 May, I forwarded by EMS all relevant copies of passport, back/front TM6, completed TM47 together with stamped address envelope to 90 Day Reporting to Chaeng Wattana Immigration.

This was received on 24 May (Thailandpost tracking) and I hold the relevant receipt.

As of today's date, I still haven't received the tear off portion from form TM47.

As it is now approx 10 days since the above was received, should I be concerned that I have heard nothing or do the return dates vary?

This will be my first 90 day confirmation of address reporting. I hold a Retirement extension.

  3. I have been legally married to a Thai for over 30 years. My wife owns a townhouse and I own a condo.

In order to leave the condo to my wife when I die, I understand I can do one of three things:

    1. Make a Thai Will here in Thailand.

    2. Go to the local amphur and transfer the condo into joint names or

    3. Do nothing.

My question is, if I decide to do nothing atall what are the problems, if any, that may arise in transferring the ownership of the condo to my wife when I die, is it a straightforward procedure being in mind we both live here in Thailand - I am currently on a Retirement extension which I renew every year.

Any advice on this subject would be appreciated.

  4. Many thanks you guys for all the help you have given me but, I am still no nearer to connecting TV to laptop by way of HDMI cable.

I have now discovered that when I originally puchased my Dell studio 1737 laptop in the UK, it held a blank media card reader. Excuse my ignorance but I think this is the problem.

If this is the case, where would I purchase an 8 in 1 media card reader for the laptop in question? Possibly an IT centre?

    Further comments would be appreciated.

  5. I have tried on several occasions to connect my laptop (Dell Studio 1737 which I purchased in the UK) to my Sony flatscreen TV by way of HDMI port. Every time I connect the cable and turn on TV followed by laptop, the monitor (laptop) goes blank and the laptop itself becomes ineffective until such time I remove the cable. I have tried to enable HDMI on TV but no signal detected.

Before I connected the HDMI cable, I opened the Intel Graphics control panel display monitor/TV settings and it says, Monitor/TV are not supported. This I do not understand as I have an HDMI port on my laptop.

Never having attempted this setup before, this is really puzzling me. I have searched on the internet and tried everything possible, well I think so anyway.

Any help on this matter would be most helpful and appreciated.

  6. If you really do have a Non Imm O Visa you can exit the country just before it expires and get another 90 days on re entry. Providing the Visa is valid.

Or do you have an extension of your permision to stay?

    EDIT.

It appears you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa that expired in December.

If you meet the financial requirements for Retirement Extension you can do that if not a Tourist Visa would probably be the only option. A double entry would give 6 months with extensions.

Thanks for the fast reply Lite Beer, Yes it does appear that a double entry tourist visa would be the only solution.

Where in your experience would be the best Thai consulate to obtain this visa? I would like to apply in either KL or Penang but maybe they do not issue double entry TR.

    Regards

  7. I am currently on a 1 year Non O Immigrant visa which expires middle of next month.

My Thai wife is in the UK on business and will be returning to Thailand at the beginning of August. Unfortunately her ID card has only just expired and this will be renewed on her

return. She holds a Thai and British passport..

Blue book in her name (town house), marriage cert in both English and Thai, these documents I hold here in Thailand. I also own a condo but I know that the relevant documents are not required.

My original intention was to extend my non O immigrant visa but without a valid ID card and the non presence of my wife in Thailand it will be impossible for this extension.

My question is, as I need to extend my stay in Thailand for approx 5 months, what is the most appropriate visa I should apply for bearing in mind that when my wife returns in August I will wish to apply for a multiple Non immigrant O visa?

  8. I have a TOT telephone landline which I would like to suspend as I will be returning to the UK for approx 7 months.

My question is if I suspend the landline am I still obliged to pay for the line rental of B107 month?

  9. I am currently on a non O immigrant visa and when expired intend to apply for retirement extension

I satisfy all of the requirements, i.e. over 50, and will be transferring 800K baht to my Thai bank account to deposit for at least 3 months.

My question is, when I transfer 800K to my Thai bank am I able to deposit this money into an interest bearing account rather than to my savings account for which I get no interest?

    Advice would be appreciated.
