  1. Yes I already did those calculations, estimate him to be mid to late 80's. I lived there (Japan) for 20 years and ran night clubs, so I can conclusively say he is not a Yakuza. He lives in a low rent apt., not a hovel, and comes out only after 5pm to go to the supermarket for dinner, other than that he is a total recluse.

  2. I have an elderly Japanese guy living near me in the sticks, I speak fluent Japanese and from my conversations with him I am convinced he was involved in the war here and most likely involved in something he wants to hide. Perhaps let sleeping dogs lie is the best, but I can't help but feel I should at least check out if he is wanted. Would there be anywhere to find out if he is as I suspect a hideaway from WWII.

They must have bombed them with a 1 ton Vegemite bombs, they died out of disgust of the taste
    and the smell alone....

Unfortunately all vegemite is Halal now. We don't want IS scum picking vegemite up off the battlefield and using it as Popeye did spinich.

Um, slightly wrong, vegemite has not changed, only the label has, this is from Kraft, the makers of vegemite "Now, as far as I understand it (and I may be wrong here), this should really be a non-story. Vegemite has not been changed. Vegemite has always been halal. (It is made from brewers yeast, a by-product of beer-making, but since it contains no alcohol it is fine for Muslims to consume.) All that has happened is that it now carries a small symbol that certifies it as halal, which I'm thinking is to clear up any confusion that Muslims may have had, given its association with brewing." What you may not know is that vegemite is also kosher.

My sister worked for 10 years as head dietician for Kraft, what you have stated above is BS. Vegemite is continually being changed and every time it must go through screening, every batch in fact. It was changed for Halal Certification, along with a huge range of Kraft products. This does not incorporate the ingredients in many of their products, as correctly stated most were already 'halal', but rather the storage, transport and methods used in the factory, all of which, YES, did come at an additional cost to the consumer in the end. The certification would be on top of this, inspectors, licensing etc.. on a yearly basis, but no more or less than that associated with the health department, balh blah in our nanny state. I hope this puts some end to the blaming Vegemite for the terrorists in Syria...seriously people..

But this thread is hardly about Vegemite...

Good on the RAAF, I hope they get all the support they need from their allies and don't get hung out to dry as has happened in the past.

So, they moved the SECOND infected hospital worker via jet to the CDC...

Funny.. .look at one of the guys moving her..

    ZERO protective gear.

This should be illegal... moving Ebola patients without wearing any protection.

No one is "immune" to Ebola.

Either Ebola is real, and its a threat... or its fake, and the protections are a farce

I can just imagine what Thailand is preparing, a few Songtaew with some plastic sheeting... and a one way ticket to any other country. Thais, wouldn't catch it surely, It would be a foreign workers fault.

  6. Luba no need to get annoyed, this is the 'auto response' email you get every time you send them an email. More of a confirmation of receipt than anything else. If the officer needs to contact you over the visa they will. My email history displays like this.

    Inquiry

    auto response

    real response from CO

    my reply

    auto response

    etc...

and so on. We all have lots of those 'generic' emails, please read my post above from the CO saying that 10months is now the norm as of this week.

  7. They will just let them observe only what they want to show them, it's called smoke'n'mirrors. Like entertaining the Olympic Committee, all smiles and wais while keeping them away from anything they 'don't need to know', they will come away convinced of the RTP story and that will be that, Thailand was right again!

  8. OK so we go back to just the gold. If you want to make it internationally viable then it needs to be as you requested 99.9%, this does not include Thailand as I have explained above, the baht is the standard for quick turn over of gold here. If you envision having to convert it quickly while you are in Thailand then sell it up for it's weight and buy Thai ingots at the same time, it will be cheaper in the end and safer. Buy from a major chain, Aurora, (although I personally hate them) come to mind so you can 'bank it' all over the country if needed. If you intend to run out of money and then head OS, then sell the gold and buy ingots in 99.9% from a dealer, some are in MBK. You should be familiar enough having owned a shop about the security you need to take in this purchase. Good luck. Either way, personally I don't care if you bought it for a dollar, its not the time to sell now unless you want the money now. It will bounce again!

  9. You didn't mention stones in the OP, you asked about gold. The baht which is 15.3g of gold is 96.7% pure. It is the commodity traded by gold shops in Thailand, usually only their own 'Hallmark' as well (although some do accept others).

Stones are a whole different kettle of fish, do elaborate what you think you are holding, what certification you have for them etc... then I can advise

  10. 1. No need to melt it if you want to sell it (unless of course it's stolen and recognizable coffee1.gif )

If your stuff is genuine and hallmarked at 750(18K), then they will give you that proportion of the gold price, let them do it themselves.

    2. If you make it into 99.99% its harder to sell here

96.7% is the standard here, without being a recognized mint item, it will be harder to sell, see the many threads on here about people trying to find places to sell bullion coins or ingots, there are a few.

Cart it into a place like Goldmark and flog it...done. At the moment prices are in the toilet comparatively so they will welcome you.

Lazada is offering it for the price I mentioned, I'm sure you could hunt a little more maybe for an extra 1000 discount at tops..... also take a quick look at the 600D while your browsing... both come with a pretty average 18-55 mm lens to get you going.

    Many thanks.

Next few days I will be going to KK to look at the 600D and the 700D in one of the shops in the Central Plaza.

Then I will make a decision as to which one should I buy.

    Thanks for your help.

Central Plaza in Salaya want 21900 for the 60D so I don't think you'll find a bargain.
