  1. With wife 2 in Japan I got the notification in the mail first then followed by an email. This time they sent out a very non-descriptive email only, it nearly went to the junk folder. I had already put in in the visa communication folder, thinking it was only a standard, 'If your inquiry is regarding then ...... don't call us" . It was Mrs Oz. picked up on it when she was going though it that it was a grant notice. I am actually still waiting for a letter as well, although I suppose printing it yourself is the same, which I have. We're flying on the 27th so not long now till I'm back in the 'nanny state'. So much to report in the other thread on settling, but it seems to have gone awry.

  2. Gen Y or not, to the point or not, you're are a rude little and I don't know why anyone here is still helping you. More power to them. I'll have you know that every member here is frustrated, annoyed and anxious over their own battles for having to wait for their 'gift from God visa', and yet they take some time to do you a solid. WE ARE WHO YOU NEED TO TALK TO, this is the end of the line mate, we ARE the only people who can give you any advise other than maybe's and BS. Either calm down or p off! BRO!

I suggest you start by using your big Gen Y brain to realize that an apology is due to the people who tried to help you.

I have sponsored 3 wives to Oz, the last one straight to PR 100 in 4 months, I know (we know) what is going on.

  3. Cat,

As always David has given you some solid advise, rare in this forum. Please take all care in your venture... the adage love is blind is not a joke :) If the relationship is strong enough, it will stand the test of time and distance so there is no need to hurry things. I was married to a Japanese lady for 10yrs in Japan, we ended only 1 yr after being back in Oz (when the reality of it set in) some are in love with the idea of the 'foreign land, which can be read sometimes as just 'anywhere but Thailand'. I am not casting doubt on you or your relationship at all here, just a heads up that it's better to trial these things. The application and the process will all fall in line when you have this experience behind you. You will have bank accounts, history, et al.

Get her to Oz for as long as possible on a tourist visa, let her see what it is all about is my advise as well.

  4. Started with card reading DOS IBM's, we had to start feeding the stacks of cards to run whatever game/program a the beginning of our 1 hour lunch break forgoing food, to maybe get 10mins of use time, if the card didn't have a peanut butter stain in it. Windows 1 was heaven in a box, it only crashed every 2 days. You kids don't know how lucky you really are.....

ATARI, waaay down the track, but FROGGER, WAVY NAVY and one of my all time favs KARATEKA!!!

  5. I hate to disagree here but the no fail, easiest method for custard is....

    (1) Take your custard powder and mix it in a separate cup with enough cold milk to make it liquid, beat out all lumps

    (2) Warm your milk/sugar while doing this

Add 1 to 2, and whisk constantly till it thickens.

I don't add sugar that much but if you do then you put it in the milk and stir while warming it up to dissolve.

The thickening properties of the custard powder will work quickly, which is why you must stir constantly to stop it sticking to the saucepan

    No lumps, easy easy..
