Lazada is offering it for the price I mentioned, I'm sure you could hunt a little more maybe for an extra 1000 discount at tops..... also take a quick look at the 600D while your browsing... both come with a pretty average 18-55 mm lens to get you going.

    Many thanks.

Next few days I will be going to KK to look at the 600D and the 700D in one of the shops in the Central Plaza.

Then I will make a decision as to which one should I buy.

    Thanks for your help.

Beware of Lens Buying Addiction. This could get expensive.

For the purposes of taking great photos to post on the web or do normal sized prints, I recommend the LX7.

EDIT: I wish I'd taken my own advice years ago in hindsight.

Amen to that... once you have those lenses, you're kind of hooked to the brand and they know it...lol like printer and ink cartridges....

  2. In other words the flight attendant believed the 'wing badge' on her uniform made her into a patriot Navy Seal? Happens a lot I hear.... very unprofessional conduct, operation et al. I think if I was on the plane and American I would have grounds to take them to court for mental anguish.

    1) Confine the suspected case.

    2) De-plane all non-related parties and quarantine (nobody flies)

    3) Remove him from the plane and quarantine for more than 21 days

See if he still finds it funny when he is billed for the

    - cost of the flight

    - Sterilization of the plane

    - All other passengers ticket cost and sundry

etc.. etc.. you get the idea.

It would only take it to be done once, it would never happen again.

Nobody actually thought this was ever a real threat. That's why it's such a weird story. Basically it's an absurd example of security THEATER. I guess one silver lining might be that people reading this story if they already didn't know will get the message not to make jokes in airports and on planes.

So they just called the Hazmat team in for a drill then? In that case they failed miserably as has been pointed out. A legitimate case handled in this way is what is truly the scariest part of all of it. Let's say he had intended to purposefully carry ebola, you think going in unarmed,in the white fronts and a rubber suit and negotiating with this kind of person for 10mins would be effective? The size of this guy, had he been hostile....just sayin'

  6. I literally can not walk anywhere with my two (boy & girl) without getting at least a dozen 'Lor's" and 'Nah Laks" as well as as cheek pinching, arm grabbing, beckoning etc. It's really hard to teach 'stranger danger' to kids here. But what I have found is that my daughter has of her own volition become adverse to the attention, 'bai ge gai!' is her new phrase, and she's only 3, she is already handling herself and unwanted advances. My son 5 thinks it's cool of course because the girls all flock to him and call out to him everywhere they see him. Being the only 'half' in his school year also doesn't hurt his popularity ... such is life.

Garbler (noun) a person who unwittingly garbles English sentences and randomly inserts an occasional Thai word. The garbler will selectively omit words from a sentence and rearrange it's structure in the hope that people of other languages will understand what he/she is saying. The resulting sentence is sometimes referred to as Thaiglish.

An example sentence a garbler may use is.... hello how you do what name you I holiday 3 week stay hotel soi jet you come me but can not taxi me no hab change I pay bin we go eat food and walking for disco and dink can not seafood me no like not good for me.

The garbler becomes so accustomed to this way of speaking and often un realising it he will also be heard speaking to his fellow English people in this same manner. The garbler will later come to wonder that many Thai people do not speak very good English and so he will continue garbling so he can be understood easier.

I reckon you have to add a bit about talking louder and louder thinking that will make them easier to understand...loved it.

  8. Cheap Charlie aka Balloon Chaser (noun) A species not only found in Thailand, but all over the world, sometimes referred to as 'wedding crashers' or 'funeral stalkers'. The type found in Thailand are commonly referred to as a "Cheap Charlie". Determined to live like locals they refrain from carrying or using money whenever possible....

    There's a start..

    edit ATF's is waaaay better....:)

  9. English Nazi: or "Grammar Police" One who has an overly unhealthy obsession with correcting the spelling, grammar punctuation & pronunciation of others, very prevalent among the Thailand online communities. This species is typically found among the "English Teacher" fraternity

in Thailand, who have a tendency to bring their "work home with them" and frequently have delusions they are in still "teaching" in class

A rather sad pathetic individual with definite indications of severe OCD, who attempt to compensate for their social inadequacies by showing their "expertise" in their chosen field at every possible opportunity in a discussion without actually contributing anything significant or relevant to a given topic.
