  1. Some low grade batteries have defective valves and die very fast because the acid is leaking.

All UPS batteries I've seen are sealed batteries. If the acid is leaking then perhaps they're putting in motorcycle batteries, some which have caps to top up. But then, if acid is leaking the UPS would be toast long ago. wink.png

yes the valves are defective and so the seal got broken after a time and acid is leaking, nothing to worry for the ups as the batteries are always under the circuit.

  2. oh, wow 1998...

    LOL

and I thought OP was looking for Pentium 4.

@OP: wouldn't you be better served by an emulation running on recent hardware?

I need to transfer data from SCSI devices using mac OS software that dates to about 1998. So I need a mac with a SCSI port, plus another port like USB that i can use to transfer the data to a modern disk.

I got a scsi card for my PC but I cant read the data, only a mac-specific backup software package can read it. So I think the best solution is to get a mac from around 1998 that has both scsi and USB.

all you need is mediafour macdrive and you'll see your drive mounted right away in your windows.

  3. You can take the upgrade but don't install it actually, it looks like a windows 3.11, this windows is really not intended in its current state to be used on a computer.

the interface is very ugly, aero glass is no more exept for the task bar, no more rounding, it's a real jump to the past.

microsoft will certainly listen to the complains and will release a patch/option to add a classical start menu, an aeroglass theme and disable the tiles.

  4. Toyota vans are, as far as I am aware, hotel transport for guests (a friend drives one) - why all Toyotas, no idea- price break maybe?

PM uniform: all civil servants wear uniforms, and have medals, its not military at all.

I never noticed Italians clap before. I personally find clappers creepy.

actually civil cervants don't wear medals(unless they have been decorated) but the same thing as military to show their rank.

  5. The alcohol excise tax on rice whiskey was increased from 120 baht a litre to 150 baht a litre based on alcohol content, and for blended liquor from 300 baht to 350 baht per litre. The tax on brandy increased to a maximum of 50 per cent from the existing rate of 48 per cent.

The new rate does not apply to beer or wine, which already face maximum taxes.

  6. Installation is free up to 350 meters of cable after thath it is 16 baht a cable, speed will be dependend on cable lenght.

no need to take a phone number to use their lines and 3BB is by far superior to TOT adsl.

my advice, take the 6mbit and you can later change if you want.

  7. If you read my response, you will notice that it mentions me bringing the insurance policy....ie the car is insured.

But what does it matter to you if my car is insured anyway?

What you were really asking is "am I covered personally in the event of a crash?"......in which case I refer you to Trop's response ^^^

I will state again - this is not a business venture, it is simply me and my friend offering to share the cost of travel with others when we go to do our own border bounces - as the title of the thread says "PRIVATE VISA RUNS".

You can join us or not, that is your choice. It matters not to me, either way.

Actually i'm not interested to join but others might be if they know in advance how much the car insurance covers them in case of accident, they might be more interested to join you Versus joining a "traditionnal" visa company.

  8. Definitely a private run. Simply sharing the cost. So no insurance.

There's of course insurance coming with the car (certainly first class insurance), i think you should read the contract and give the details.

I'll tell you what - if you ever come on a visa run with me, I'll bring my insurance policy so you can read it.

I'm sure you'll have a lot of people willing to go to border with a perfect stranger who is happy to mock others when they ask if the car is covered by an insurance...

  9. nice advice, in Chiang Mai I tried to fix my old laptop that have problems with the power plug in the motherboard, I check around all the business in the IT plaza and some other place nearby, the same result all the people try to sell me a new charger and some shops that are specialized to fix computers they tell me that I need a replacement for the connector that is not easy to find, at the end I did it my self, cleaning and reballing, now work, not perfect but I can use the laptop

LMAO you don't reball connectors only BGA chips!
