fa new rumor about the electric going around, just found out this morning, Rumor as below
There are rumours that bankok wants back the power supply trucks on 15 january because they gave them for peak season. after that samui will get power 5 hours on/ 5 hours off base.
If any of you can disprove this rumor please post it.
If any of you find any other information about the matter post it as well
fake as usual, the trucks only provide 10% of koh samui's needed power supply, without them we might experience the regular power outage for one or two hours at max.

The Sony laptop from the uk was cheaper than the Acer in Thailand
A computer has no fixed price, it all depends on its specs....

Would i buy a laptop again in Thailand? NO WAY. i purchased an acer for 27,00bt from a major outlet in Bangkok only to find out later to find out later the windows operating system was a copy and would not validate, 2 years without updates and a lot of problems later I replaced it with a sony vaio which i bought for £450 in the UK 3 YEARS LATER AND STILL LAPTOP BLISS.
if you have to buy in Asia validate your copy of windows before leaving the shop, and buy from a computer shop not a supermarket.
LOL the price is cheaper here cause windows license is not paid, you just had to buy a genuine windows and enter the license key to fix your issue.

Hi,
i got a lot of broken modems, mainboards, printers an old CRT screen and other various electronic devices .
The problem is the local scrapyard(bophut before the temple) where i'm going doesn't accept electronic components, they do accept batteries, metal parts etc.
does any of you know where i can go ?
Thanks.

The drive cannot be seen in the bios cause the board is waiting for the heads to initialize, prices should start around 10K for a recovery of this size.

open an administrator command prompt and type "chkdsk :letterdrive /f" and you'll get everything back once the scan is completed, the MFT is simply corrupted.

you have 3BB premier as package which is a 3Mb package, you can safely change to the 13Mb.

Other properties lights on & no one home
hopefully i got a big car battery and other small ones and two inverters in case one fails, i should be "enlighted" until 2013

i do have bikes to rent(scooter) all bought second hand cheap and with the CTPL only as all insurances i talked to always told me the same things as previous posters so i decided to go the cheap way as the expensive way doesn't offer coverage to customers anyway, i only have third class insurance on my personnal scooter that i never rent out.

ah so it must be a honda phantom or something, CTPL covers up to 50K for hospital treatment and reimburse 100K to the family of the deceased.
you can't get the tax sticker without the CTPL being paid first so yes the bike is covered by the mandatory insurance but dont forget the driver is responsible for all damages done to your property or the other in case he's the one causing the accident.
-
it all depends on your prices, cheap rentals come with the CTPL, the expensive ones come with better insurance.

looks like all the tourists are drawing too much power, this bangrak powercut lasted exactly 30M.

these boxes can't be opened easily without the security to trigger a "paint" bomb on the bank notes, i'm sure it would all have been different if the bank notes were inside the bag

yeah but a carrebian is like an old yamaha nouvo....
no comfort and safety is totally absent....
not to mention the gasoline consumption
But will take you anywhere for a cheap price.
If you are just using it for a holiday on the Island it's the way to go.
Please do not take your rented vios up into the interior of the Island.
Or even along the ghost road in the rain!
I can get a Suzuki Jeep (old) for 500 a day. By the way - was the Vios at 850 now? Or earlier in the year? What company at the airport? I looked and could not get one that cheap.
Insurance on the Vios? The 500 baht jeep is minimum full insurance! (If you hit a mercedes - expect to pay something.)
we rented the vios(manual gear box) at many occasion in 2011/2012 and the price was always 850, of course they try a bit more but on the website(avis) you can often book it in advance at 620 baht per day(depends on availability), i always keep a copy of my previous rental with the price written on it.
insurance is first class but you'll have to pay 5K in case of damage, if you buy the damage blabla waiver the price is 1050 baht.
however we never rented the car in peak season, we used it to do a border bounce once every 90 days.
