he can build his own company and use it to get a work permit or he can work without work permit for less than 14 days IF he has a letter of exemption from the labour department, this is what internationnal dj's and other show makers get for short work.

you can apply for the thai driving license wich is not possible with a tourist visa.

haha not at all, with a valid work permit, you can get non-B multi entries but the guy in the chair instead of applying rules to issue a visa is looking at the sun position and various other natural phenomens to take the decision.

We both would like to get married and live in chiang mai. she said i could come on her student visa as a dependant, but once this is up after 1.5 years from sep. 2009, what then ?

i won't have a job while there, but I trade on the forex market and that would be my income. is this an accepted method of proof of income ? what would I need to show ?

if you buld your own thai company and get a work permit you can trade on the forex otherwise it's illegal.

the consul is gone wild in penang, if you have a work permit valid for one year and had a previous one year visa then maybe he'll give a year otherwise it's three months or nothing.

If you apply for a work permit you have to pay tax. Does anyone know how much tax has to be paid? According to the work permit and application you have to have a monthly income of at least 50 000 baht a month.

did you get that minimum salary from the labour department recently?

according to sunbelt, since a month the labour department does allow as lowest salary the minimum income to apply for extension of stay per nationality.

the tax should be 3K bath/month.

a step forward but still not interesting, wire transfer and classic ATM cards will live for a long time...

When my brother left to Hawaii to pick up his son he asked immigration about bringing his son back to up to 3 months and was told "no problem". Now he is only staying 45 days but only got 30 day vacation visa. My brother is being told he can only get 7 day extension, otherwise he has to do a run out of the country with his son. This doesn't sound reasonable. Any suggestions?

<br /><br />What he got was a 30 day Visa Exempt stamp.<br />Technically his Son will be on overstay but there is no fine for children so can stay with no problem.<br />If your brother needs another 15 days he will have to do a border run. You did not make it very clear about your brothers situation.<br />

the child will not be fined, but can he get and his parent in trouble if he's caught on overstay, like being deported or anything like that?

hi, ring the thai consulate in liege/luik/lutich as you are belgian, they will not discuss anything to issue your visa as long as you have the papers required by the ministry of foreign affairs.

the consul is belgian and you can apply by mail.

visiting immigration for an extension other than a year should be your last option as they charge 1900bath even for 7 days.

your money will be spent more intelligently by doing a border run as you're paying the travel company for their work instead of the state with an insane price.

When applying for a work permit, I understand from recent posts, that I now need to show evidence of a salary of min. 50,000 baht (UK nationality) per month. I am wondering how the Labour Dept deals with a couple of issues:<br /><br />1. Does this "proof" of earnings need to come from the previous year's accounts showing the company's revenue giving it the financial ability to pay such a salary (which the accounts may not show) OR from details of proposed salary stated in the "prospective" employees "draft" contract of employment?<br /><br />2. Once the WP is obtained, is it OK to pay the appropriate taxes, social payments etc. to the government, but not actually draw the net wage from the company? I.e. leave it in the Directors Loan Account to keep cash in the company as the Co. may still be making a loss in this second year, what with having all the salaries to pay.<br /><br />Thanks for any member's valuable experience with this.<br />

Hello, they don't want you to show financial statements exept for the balance sheet, so many people have sleeping company with a work permit and this for years.

however you'll of course need to pay monthly taxes even if you don't work, i guess they are happy enough with the taxes the foreigner holding a work permit is paying.

<br /><br />Well, you need to have had the extensions for 3 years in a row to qualify for PR, but they have never looked kindly on people only paying taxes on that 50,000, i.e. just enough to get the extensions.<br /><br />BTW, currently labor department demands a minimum salary equal or more then what immigration needs to approve a 1 year extension.<br />Practically that means minimum salaries at labor department are now nationality based (50,000 Europeans, 35,000 for Filipino's,...).<br />They require this regardless of whether you will use your WP to extend your stay or not! Even when you already have a 1 year extension (marriage for example).<br />In force for about 1 month now.<br />Exceptions are teachers and journalists.<br /><br />

<br />One of their main decision factors is if you are a valuable asset to the country.<br />They mainly decide this on how much tax you pay monthly, so basically you need to be working here on a work permit.<br /><br />In general applicants only paying tax on the minimum salary (50,000 Baht/month) will get refused at application!<br /><br />So I doubt you will have much chance of seeing your application accepted.<br />

your situation is the opposite, as long as the RH is negative you can receive from all types.

however giving your blood is not really intersting as only RH negative AB will be able to receive it.

if you wanna get rid of that stupid block like the day when all ISP were blocking youtube, install a proxy to a friend's computer that uses another ISP.

i can recommend you ccproxy for the ease of use and being free for less than 10 users, that's the solution i'm currently using with a friend that has maxnet, i also need to mention that with TOT, you have to wait for the video to be loaded completly due to their low bandwith with the proxy now, the progress bar is going faster than the video...
