  1. "People on the ground". Do you refer to a ground invasion of Gaza? If they do invade it removes all the advantages they have by bombing from the skies. They have created the ideal environment to level the playing field by reducing so many buildings to rubble. The israeli troops will be fighting against an entrenched enemy that has nothing to lose, and will face opposition for every inch of ground. Of course the israelis will win in the end, but at the cost of many dead. However, they may be waiting for all the Gazans to die of thirst before moving in.
  2. The allies didn't have laser guided smart bombs when they invaded France. The Germans were an army of thousands and armed with heavy weapons, not just rifles and RPGs Stop the baiting or go on ignore.
  3. That's right, but the main takeaway was the "yomp" by the Paras. Wonder if they could do that now? The entire UN is a very bad joke IMO. They created israel and then wrung their hands when it all went wrong subsequently. Pathetic talking shop IMO. Their troops just got kicked out of Mali as useless. Gave cholera to Haiti. Every conflict now all they can do is whimper to "stop fighting and be nice". Pretty much invisible on this one, as the American's lap dogs IMO. Significant that the general assembly is in New York.
  4. and a great many innocent women and children will be killed as "collateral damage". What a vile world we live in that innocents can be dismissed so casually. Interesting that you include a comment about Nazis. Relevant, but not in the way you mean.
  5. I was kind to the two women I lived with, but that didn't stop them taking me for everything they could get.
  6. As a nurse I helped thousands of people. Most never even said thank you.
  7. ??????????????? Most wars are about land or resources.
  8. Are you smoking something weird? Israel has built walls all over the illegally occupied Palestinian land, and around Gaza.
  9. No money involved . Looks like we have a comedian on the thread. BTW, payment doesn't have to be monetarily.
  10. Money can't buy you Love (unless you're in Thailand). Rubbish! Money buys you sex in Thailand and just about every country on the planet. Money can't buy "love" as it's an emotion caused by a release of hormones.
  11. Worth 2 years in the slammer because women get annoyed? That sounds about right in a woke <deleted> country.
  12. I loved the first Alien movie. Watched all the rest, but they were never as good after Weaver became too pervasive. The last one Weaver in was IMO <deleted>.
  13. I also have too many DVDs to watch before I pass ( only $1 or $2 at op shops ) and had to make the decision whether to watch my favourite animes again and again and again, or watch an unseen DVD movie, So far the anime's are winning.
  14. Edge of Darkness- has to be the best series ever put out on British TV. I watched it on tv when it came out and again on DVD more recently- just got better, and not dated at all. Baker was excellent as the crazy American and Peck could not be bettered. Then Gibson made a rubbish movie out of it.
  15. God help me, I watched a few series of Survivor, Castaway etc, and even saved them on DVD. What was I thinking?????
  16. 24 was an excellent series. I have all the DVDs, but doubt I'll get to rewatch them again. LOST was excellent till the ending which was a monumental fail. I loved St Elsewhere, and that series started many well known actors careers. I bought my first VDO recorder at HUGE expense so I'd never miss an episode of Hill St Blues. Mary Tyler Moore show- loved it, along with millions. Space 1999. Battlestar Galactica- NOT the original series.
  17. The woke wouldn't like it up them, for sure. Great series. The American alternative, MASH started off well and very NOT PC, but eventually went woke, like most long running American sitcoms. I never liked It aint half hot at the time, but later on more so. Never liked allo allo.
  18. I liked Firefly, but mainly for the cute girl. How about Dr Who? Patrick Troughton was IMO the best Doctor, and his sidekick Wendy Padbury had to be the cutest companion.
  19. That was a great series, along with many similar. The Prisoner was interesting if somewhat barking. McGoohan was a great actor but never, IMO, sufficiently recognised as such.
  20. Mine are all anime ( Violet Evergarden etc ), which would be of minimal interest to most farangs. Far as western series go: The ones that I just had to watch ( most of the ITV stuff- Morse, Frost, Poirot etc ) in no particular order. Blake's 7 The Avengers, but only in black and white, went stupid in colour. China Beach. Many more, but the OP asked for 3.
  21. and yet governments IMO spend sod all on mitigation of extreme events. The Japanese are the only ones I know of that have built sea defenses.
  22. Agree 100%. I loved Pattaya, but I wasn't blind to the problems caused by city hall. One benefit was that the <deleted> infrastructure made it unpopular with bagpackers and families.
  23. It's always on the peasants to do their work for them. I'm not a fan of the IRD.
