Rishi Sunak’s efforts to hold his party together look increasingly futile
Good riddance. He lost my support after his poodle visit to suck up to netanyahu.

House speakership up in air as resistance to Jim Jordan hardens
It's over. They have elected someone I never heard of, Mike Johnson. His stated first order of business- supporting israel. That is apparently of more importance than the financial crisis, the debt crisis, the southern border fiasco, Ukraine, America's declining respect in many parts of the world, etc.

Hundreds of Hollywood celebrities praise Biden’s handling of Israel-Hamas war
Nothing about stopping Palestinian children being blown to bits! The sooner they get eliminated by AI the better IMO.

‘Support our people’: growing frustration at Palestine’s leadership in West Bank
IMO the Palestinian authority has been exposed as a lackey of israel, and it's hard to believe it can survive too much longer before Palestinians wash it away.

Blinken warns: US will respond "decisevely"
“We do not want this war to widen. IMO, and using the words of many a Native American in western movies of my childhood, "the white man speaks with forked tongue".

Israel's options don't look good - but a full-scale military campaign in the near future is inevitable
While it's not guaranteed that they would do so, even if they did, will they want to eliminate Hamas ( or it's successor ), as that would give israel unfettered ability to do whatever it likes in illegally occupied Palestine?

I watched an interview with Daniel Levy on Al Jazeera. Not sure if it's the same one, but he has a good grasp of the situation. Someone that should be listened to by western leaders ( apparently he used to be an israeli government advisor )

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
Are you implying that a regional war between Arab/ Iranian forces and America/ Western countries in the Middle East is the end game? I have certainly read about such in a certain book ( those who understand will know what I'm talking about ).

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
I agree with most of that, but expect a lot of attacks for it from the usual posters.

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
As reported on Al Jazeera, the latest US resolution on Gaza was vetoed by Russia and China.

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
Apparently the Palestinians are sponsoring a debate in the UN General Assembly tomorrow. I expect the debate to go against israel/ US. The world has indeed been watching.

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
Nothing except hate and suffering, and many of us outside the conflict zone will also suffer. This could have been solved way back in Clinton's day, but the ongoing invasion of Palestinian land has rendered such highly unlikely. It's just sad when biden started muttering about the "two state" solution, as if it were even possible without israel withdrawing from it's illegal occupation of the West Bank and West Jerusalem.

UN’s António Guterres calls for immediate ceasefire to end ‘epic suffering’ in Gaza
You can add America to that. Sending 2 carrier groups and not even trying to mediate is not the way to solve this problem. To then demand that certain countries do not intervene or be attacked only heightens the IMO insanity writ large in that unfortunate region.

Because being insulting is all certain posters have got.

The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
One can only surmise that certain posters consider anyone against the israeli actions concerning the Palestinians is "anti semitic".

The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
Excellent post, and certainly easy to understand. IMO the israelis and Americans already lost public opinion in most of the world over trying to starve millions to death. It's ironic that Russia is looking better with it's call for an immediate ceasefire than the US with it's hold out for a "pause". What the <deleted> does a "pause" mean anyway? Just keep them alive a bit longer so they can be blown to bits later? And I'm pretty sure that when Israel is talking about crippling Hamas that they are not talking about bringing any back for trial. While the israelis have not shared their plans for after the invasion, one can only surmise that they intend to arrest every Palestinian male left alive and able to walk, and lock them up for a very long time, as by now every Gazan must surely want nothing else than revenge against israelis.

Being anti zionist is not anti semitic as not only Jews are pro zionist. It's a movement, not a race. Next.

The Gaza diplomacy of Biden, Sunak and co seems to be heading for failure
Ah, the old "anti semitic" attack rolled out when someone is losing the argument. Just like similar accusations of "misogynistic" when one points out the failings of a female, or "racist" when pointing out something certain people don't like about other ethnicities.

Not the time for a ceasefire in Gaza, says US, with Hamas still holding hostages
When even one child blown to bits is one too many, it's disgusting to me that some seem to think if it's less that the number reported by the Palestinians then it's OK. Anyway, how could the israelis have any idea of the number of children it has blown to bits? They aren't there trying to dig dead children out of the rubble.

Biden says he will not let Hamas and Putin win !
Fair enough. However, it's peanuts when compared to the 14 BILLION $ he wants to give to israel, and I will give a link to that. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-100-billion-request-congress-ukraine-israel/ $14 billion in Israel-related assistance

Ukraine has begun to reinforce its troops along the front lines of its counteroffensive with new, fresh fighters.
Russia IMO isn't going to withdraw ( bar another Gorbachev taking over ), but keep repeating the mantra if it makes you happy.

Biden's biggest mistake ?
Thanks to the israeli airforce bombing Gaza to bits the Hamas fighters have ideal cover for attacking the israelis when they invade. Even tanks will have a problem with that amount of rubble, and will have to slow down to a crawl to get over it, making them a much easier target. I assume the Hamas fighters have RPGs a plenty.

Biden's biggest mistake ?
Never forget that when it comes to the US, one is dealing with the military industrial complex. The 1% don't get rich when the US isn't needing to spend large on weapons. President Eisenhower warned about it after WW2.
-
Biden's biggest mistake ?
I agree on the buffer force, but can't see Biden ever agreeing to have US forces shoot at the israelis, nor the GOP. That's what the UN is supposed to do but they are a waste of space when it comes to israel. I'm puzzled as to why US boots would be needed, as the israelis have a much vaunted army, or is it not as good as claimed against lightly armed fighters? However I am worried that certain elements in the US government want a war with Iran, and are just itching for an excuse to go in. I can't see any other reason for 2 carrier groups.

House speakership up in air as resistance to Jim Jordan hardens
Must be getting close to the end of the temporary extension of the debt ceiling. Seems the US political system really is broken if they can't sort this fiasco.
