Democracy is Failing the Young – No Wonder They Want Change
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Sadly they don't pay nurses as much as a mechanical engineer working in aerospace. I was able to afford my 3 bedroom house on a 1/4 acre on a nurses' wage in the early 80s, but I doubt I could afford the same house on less land now on a nurses wage. -

All good unless a Tibetan or an Uighur. -
The ICE saved us from being restricted to bicycle or horse travel ( and a bit of steam power ) and gave folk like myself real freedom to go almost anywhere I want to. Without ICE you wouldn't be spouting your ICE hatred, as you'd still be wherever you were born and international travel would be only for the rich. No internet for sure. A spot of gratitude for ICE is in order. Also, most people on the planet would starve to death if all ICE vehicles were banned tomorrow. That's not going to change for decades.

Sooooo, tell us how it is that despite EV makers not being required to build a car with 4 wheels on the corners, a large bit on the front, and another large bit on the back, they still make them look identical to an ICE car? Could it be, shock horror, that people think they'll be mocked if it's obvious that they are driving a lemon?

Nonsense. The main problem is that replacing the batteries is so expensive that second hand EVs are worth peanuts, if anyone is even willing to buy one. Till it's simple to replace the batteries, expect that to be a major factor in deciding to buy one, especially in countries where most cars are bought second hand.

FAA’s Diversity Policies Under Fire After Deadly Air Collision
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'm constantly boggled by the mentality of posters that claim Trump should have fixed every problem facing the US by the day after his inauguration, and that Trump has to be involved in running every one of the thousands of government agencies in the US. -

Utter nonsense. The POTUS is not subject to any policy during their campaign and the voters can vote for anyone they want that is standing. As for active service, he's a bit over the age that will not happen, and the Commander in Chief does not presently have to lead the troops into battle. IMO they should be required to lead the troops into any battle ordered by the POTUS ( along with all politicians voting for war ) as that would effectively end American wars. -

Yes there was, and he was somewhat preoccupied with incompetent underlings like Bolton and Sessions, and with that fake Russian collusion fiasco etc. If you want to blame someone, blame the Dems for not letting him get on with the important stuff. -
It has been suggested that the CIA did not intend that the Russians would fail entirely, but wanted to bleed them for as long as possible, and that policy was probably working well till Gorbachev took over and withdrew the Russians from Afghanistan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Cyclone At a 30 March meeting, U.S. Department of Defense representative Walter B. Slocombe "asked if there was value in keeping the Afghan insurgency going, 'sucking the Soviets into a Vietnamese quagmire?'"[18] When asked to clarify this remark, Slocombe explained: "Well, the whole idea was that if the Soviets decided to strike at this tar baby [Afghanistan] we had every interest in making sure that they got stuck." It's a pity that they supported the wrong alliance, having backed the Pakistani choice, as we know how that turned out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Cyclone Of the seven mujahideen groups supported by Zia's government, four espoused Islamic fundamentalist beliefs—and these fundamentalists received most of the funding.

Try standing behind some old idiot at a supermarket checkout while they try to work out how to pay with a phone then. Far far more irritating. Some old people shouldn't be allowed out without a minder. -

Anyone believes anything that criminal says deserves to be taken for everything they have. Why isn't he in jail playing hide the sausage instead of trying to steal even more money? Phuket is the perfect place for a crook promoting a made up currency, being the a **** of Thailand, and perhaps even the planet. -

Could Trump to Put 100 percent tariffs on Thailand?
thaibeachlovers replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
IMO the UN was set up by the big 3 to control the world post WW2, as evidenced by being in N Y rather than in Switzerland. As time went on it became less effective due to the end of colonialism. Now the emperor has been shown to be naked, but they keep on with the sham as it's all smoke and mirrors to deflect from the real program. IMO every country not in the rich boys club should abandon the UN and set up shop elsewhere without a security council that doesn't secure anything. They couldn't do worse than the farce in N Y. -
