  1. Umh, it is not a new plane, it is a refit of an old one. The $3billion is in addition to the $6billion already spent on the two new aircraft. I understand that the deal for the two new aircraft was a fixed price contract, and the aircraft, which are being converted from two new, in stock but not used aircraft, have had to be virtually completely rewired - hence the delay; and Boeing are losing money on the job. I doubt that they will be prepared to take the same risk again! So no saving of the taxpayer's money.
  2. He just likes picking pedantic arguments.
  3. The jury is out as to whether I am a leftist - many Americans seem to think I am some sort of a Maoist degenerate, conversely there are those from the UK who would hold that I consider Ghenghis Khan to have been soft on social policy! Anyway, back to the point, I feel knackered just reading your post!
  4. Oh dear me - turbulence over Wyoming caused this, not "DEI hires"!
  5. The entries for funniest statement in the discussion of American Presidential matters are coming in thick and fast this week!
  6. I doubt Ricky Jones will ever come to trial.
  7. Certainly easier and cheaper to "manage" her sentence in what, in the UK, is called an "open prison."
  8. An expert commentary - no doubt based upon vast and extensive research in a huge number and variety of educational institutions. I am surprised that the education authorities do not hire you as an expert advisor! There are of course a couple of other possibilities: 1) you couldn't get hired, 2) some bloody teacher got to the pretty new girl in your favourite bar before you!
  9. Trump would never do something like that, why, that would be plain mean and nasty, unethical and immoral! Besides, surely it would show up on his tax returns, you know, the ones which have been under audit for the last 10 years!
  10. Annoys you does it, the whole TACO bit? It will inevitably remain current as long as Trump continues making wild threats on tariffs, and then, at the deadline he has set, backing down. The Democrats may be shouting in the wilderness, many people are disappointed by their lacklustre ( with exceptions) performance in opposition, but those very same polls do not show that to translate into support for Trump. Both parties are stuck in the vice like grip of otherwise enfeebled old powerbrokers, themselves corrupted by money.
  11. I have seen some of the textbooks and materials produced for Assumption, ( I taught at a Catholic School, and they supplied some) and they were at the better end of the scale. That said, if there is a Seventh Circle of Hell in Academia, it is reserved for those (with a plethora of postnominal initials) who write English Language textbooks for Thailand! The amount of freebies and kickbacks available to the (Thai) teachers responsible for selecting and buying textbooks is remarkable!
  12. It does matter, as the reasons which Trump is now advancing as to why he threw him out are yet more indications that Trump was party to, even if not part of, the antics surrounding Epstein
  13. Prince Andrew paid the price - out on his ear from public life. The King will never countenance his return. Bill Clinton - well if the matter is ever properly investigated ( it won't be) and were he to be involved the he should face the consequences.
  14. There are a couple of enterprising chaps in my neck of the woods who have a drone they use to spread fertiliser. That's them out of business then! Using drones for such purposes is entirely harmless. It is a bit like banning cars, because Cambodians have them! Utterly pointless. Mind you, I should imagine that the big farm operators will very quickly arrange exceptions. Given the complete lack of police presence in most rural areas it will probably be ignored.
  15. I should have imagined a Democrat administration wouldn't have gone out and started a trade war in the first place, one based on a totally faux mathematical formula to fix tariff levels. Nor would they have justified it by declaring a state of emergency, and using that to prevent any congressional oversight. Tariffs serve two purposes for Mr Trump, he intends them to become a primary source of government revenue, replacing personal taxation to the benefit of his wealthy backers, and they provide him with a big stick with which he can threaten other countries.
  16. A pretty wild supposition! You couldn't be more wrong.
  17. It is known, established, that the sexual trafficking of young girls was going on in the circles in which Trump moved. His increasingly bizarre and unconvincing attempts to distance himself from that would be risible, were it not for the inherently tragic nature of those activities. Put bluntly, he was a nonce, it seems an enthusiastic nonce, it is obvious he was a nonce, and the web of lies he spins merely serve to confirm that he was a nonce. America, how low are you prepared to sink?
  18. I don't think people are taking the piss out of Trump because he is going bald. They are taking the piss out of the bizarre, ridiculous and obviously fake attempts he is making to hide it. Much the same as the weird orange "tan" which appears to have been applied with a brickies trowel! None of us particularly welcome the physical effects of ageing. Most of us have the sense to recognise how ridiculous it ends up looking when one tries to hide It!
  19. Quite astonishing, an attempt to justify the exploitation of children. These girls were in their early teens, they were children you disgusting old pervert!
  20. I don't know any digital nomads or members of the IT community, nor do I have the medical or psychological training to diagnose the conditions which you mention. Do you; or is it the usual combination of "everyone knows" and "I read it on the internet"?
  21. I'm not sure that there is anything staggering other than the cold hard truth that Ghislaine Maxwell either is pardoned/ commuted, or will be dead within months. She knows that, and is quite simply fighting for her life
  22. It crosses my mind that Ghislane Maxwell is a convicted felon, and that will inevitably colour any testimony she may give. I can't for the life of me understand why that point has not been forcibly made, either by the current US administration or indeed the normally more unrestrained commentators on this forum! 🤔
