  1. Can only go by my wife's family's experience with Honda. Four purchased and no real issues. Using their insurance is great too, all in house repairs and courtesy car etc

Hi Cook. Can you elaborate on Honda's own insurance? I was thinking that if it's not free then I'd stay with my current insurer to retain the no claims. But if Honda cover in-house repairs and a courtesy car that would be a better deal. Thanks for any info.

I believe Honda doesn't have it's own insurance but works as a broker. From Honda website:

Another service is car insurance with Honda Automobile Insurance Brokers Co., Ltd. that offers great coverage from many of the leading insurance companies.

I did get my insurance through Honda and it was for Viriyah Insurance which I found excellent.

  2. Well thanks for all your views i am ordering the 1.5 version (not rs) in pearlesent white

Not sure how much extra in the colour will cost maybe 30k?

Going to leave a deposit Monday and told they can deliver by friday 20th earlier if i take standard white

More excited than the wife and its her car hahaha.

PS. Both their website and brochure say pearl white is an extra 10k.

And black for 6k extra. Disregard the 1.8 in the scan below, it is the same price difference for all variants. Not sure why black has to be a premium.

  3. Thailand only gets the faster Exynos models.

U got it other way around it.

    IC

    He's got it correct.

There are two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7: a US version with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and the International version with the Exynos 8890 octa-core processor.

  4. If you are connected to a VPN but using a whoami check and it still sees your local (Thailand) IP then probably due to WebRTC. If running Firefox then you can use this plugin, Chrome has a similar plugin - Disable WebRTC

Or you can just do the below using about:config in Firefox. I use the about:config myself.

Mozilla Firefox users can actually turn off the default WebRTC functionality directly in Firefox settings by typing ‘about:config’ into the search bar and browsing to the ‘media.peerconnection.enabled’ option and setting it to FALSE.

"WebRTC leaks your actual IP addresses from behind your VPN, by default."

  5. I previously had LG, I now buy Mitsubishi Mr Slim

Hmm, why that ? Not happy with LG or Mitsu just better (nowadays) ?

I had 2 new LGs put in by the house owner and they both failed in one fashion or another just over one year. If going for Mitsu, go for Mitsu Heavy not Mitsu Electric. Parts much easier with the Heavy brand. Had to wait several weeks for a replacement outside fan motor whereas the tech said he could got the motor for Mitsu Heavy within a day or two.

Daikin is probably one of the highest rated here and P.K. Air, they have several branches around CM, handle it. P.K. Air also handles most other brands though. The house I'm in now has 5 Saijo Denkis which have been doing fine and a common brand so parts should be no issue.

  6. Look here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/881743-public-holidays-2016/

But the answer to your question, they are closed May 2nd

.....although there seems some alternative opinions....http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/913361-immigration-closed-days/

Thanks for that, I always thought that when on the Thaivisa Calendar the days are RED then everything is closed.

Thanks again, I will edit my original post

Believe next time I will use a different color for observed days, which is what I put labor day under, and full government holidays.

But yes, immigration will be open on Monday. My May list of holidays posted in the Chiang Mai forum - May holidays

  7. There's only one way to deal with an RTA here and that it to let your insurance company deal with everything. If you don't have proper insurance, bend over and open wide...

How many motorbike riders have insurance?

Everyone that has a current tax sticker. Can't get it without at least compulsory insurance. Though in this case the payout is a pittance compared to the quoted real expenses above.

  8. That's good to know, Cook, thanks. I also noticed that insurance of 28,000 is added onto the price of the car on the price list (the one with the finance terms). This indicates that insurance is not free for the first year. Can that be right?

I think Honda doesn't give out 1st year insurance. I didn't get it when I purchased my City ... I remember reading about this on the 'net that Honda doesn't give out 1st year insurance like many others.

Same here for my Civic, no free insurance. However they dropped the price by 26,000 Baht for me to do with as I will such as accessories, Insurance or just a straight reduction in the price.
