  1. i read you will need to show tickets and out for all entries on the metv. that basically leaves me with one entry visas from now on.

its just not worth the hassle. its easier to just visit a neighboring country until you can get a single entry visa.

Where did you read that ?

It's in the link in the OP but is not a formal statement but someone's interpretation.

    Flight Itinerary

Every embassy requires some sort of proof that you are traveling to Thailand via airplane but the specific details vary greatly on this one. Some offices vaguely say “flight itinerary” while others require the first flight into Thailand; some require both a flight entering and a flight exiting; others require flight itineraries for every time you enter and exit Thailand. None mention if bus or train travel is an acceptable method to depart from or enter into Thailand. Contact your home country’s embassy directly for more details.

  2. "an important meeting of IO's on March 18th which 'Could be bad news for falangs'."

This is highly likely due to the introduction on the 20th of the new overstay rules and "Good Guys in, Bad Guys Out" policy. Getting the IOs up to date and advance preparation for that time. Will close this topic as I don't see a relationship between the two issues other than coincidence.

Note: from 2013, which never took place: Thailand to require foreign tourists to buy health insurance

  3. Maybe your mariage extention had not expired.. once its expired it can be done.. but before that time you will have to invalidate it first by either a divorce or leaving the country.

As the OP mentioned he will be renewing his extension of stay and wishes to change then. There is no reason I know of that he can't change his reason for extension of stay from marriage to retirement. The original visa has nothing to do with it. Some offices actually prefer to have extension based on retirement over marriage due to less paperwork for them.

Strange that then when I wanted to change from mariage to Elite they said the mariage visa had to be cancelled first. I had quite a few discussions with them about this. I also let the people from elite visa into it and nobody could help.

There is no cancellation involved in what the OP wants. He applies for his new extension based on retirement which takes effect right after his extension based on marriage expires (no longer valid).

Is there any way to appeal this ?

Request to talk to a higher up. There is also an immigration hotline number but can't remember what it is <1111?>.
