  1. I closed it early as I have a heavy workload both on the forum, Admin end of year housekeeping, and off and this year's calendar is more complex then previous ones and need the extra time to finalize it. Also helping an NGO out with their annual calendar. And also, contributions slowed to a trickle so seemed the right time. I'm only just now putting the finishing touches on it and preparing for the upload. It is bigger than normal at 42MB due to different technique of overlaying multiple images.

Also can't figure out why the low turnout this year. Only around 60 contributions whereas a couple of years ago it was around 450.

Thanks to Shaggy for all his efforts to get the word out. Announcement even went out in the Newsletter several times.

  3. How did you know it contained true genuine personal details? It did NOT contain genuine true personal details! So many mind readers and "know it all" people. The attachment had simulated data, not true private data.

Here is the form again, so you can see it jumps to 2 pages.

We're not mind readers and had no way of knowing it wasn't true personal data as you didn't mention it. I modified it with a change in margins so see how this works.

    tm8fromThaiVisa14Dec2015.docx

BTW, I can not replicate the 2 page issue when using the downloaded form on Thaivisa and entering pseudo information. The one you supplied does show two pages as the 1st page overflows the last line into a 2nd page. So not clear exactly why it is behaving that way for you.

  4. The form stored on the Thaivisa server seems to work without a problem. Download it here:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/files/file/8-tm8-re-entry-permit-into-the-kingdom-application-form/

Attached is the form from Thai Visa from the above link, filled in with a genuine copy of MS Word 2010. It jumps to 2 pages when filled in. Have a look.

You need to ask for that link to be removed. It contains personal detail.

Agreed, attachment removed for privacy reasons.

  5. Monday the 7th substitution day for HM's birthday. Thursday the 10th Constitution day. Both government/public holidays. Immigration closed, main bank branches closed but satellite branches such is in malls open.

Friday the 11th was decided not to make it a public holiday but many will take it off anyway due to the massive traffic issues and giving themselves a long weekend.

  6. My Zanussi has been sufficient for what I need.

The odd pizza, cheese on toast, small joint of pork etc.

I'm not big into baking but it has served its purpose for what I require.attachicon.gifImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect1448773854.354593.jpg

I have that exact same model. I've had it for 4 years now and it works brilliantly. I've done large pork roasts, grilled hamburgers, baked cakes/corn bread/etc. easily. Won't fit a Turkey but roasting a chicken.

My previous topic on it - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/529187-toaster-ovens-where-did-they-all-go/

  7. Why? They try to charge the wifes and they can ignore it and wait for a court rule. But this the Thai wives would win because the immigration have the address already and this rule is for business only!!! It not bring problem to a farang!!!

It is not for business only. Don't always rely upon a website wording as being accurate, read the actual law. Here is the article, Section 38 1979 Immigration Act and it does not state businesses only. As already said, bad advice.

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager where the alien, receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed, must notify the competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that house, dwelling place or hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office located in that area, the local police official for that area must be notified. In case the house, dwelling place, or hotel where the alien has stayed under provision of Para.1 is located within the Bangkok area, such notification must be reported to the competent official at the Immigration Division.

  8. From Chiangmai Imm website FAQ

"2. Question : What do the house-master/owner or possessor of the residence have to do,if the alien granted temporary stay in Thailand has stayed in his/her house/residence? (Is it possible for an agent to do for?)

Answer : He/She (The owner of the residence) must notify (by the Form TM.30) to the competent official Of the Immigration Office located in the same area of that house/residence within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien. However, such notification could be made in person or by an agent or sent with completed Form( TM.30) by registered post."

And Bangkok main immigration web site. Has anyone tried using the mail in method successfully?

    • In person at the respective office, or
    • Through an authorised person at the respective office, or
    • By registered mail, or
    • Via internet.
  9. MAYBE A LETTER TO THE IMMIGRATION CHIEF ASKING HIM TO CLARIFY WHATS THESE NEW RULES ARE.

come on thai visa RATTLE THE CAGE.

This is not a new rule. It has been on the books since the 1979 immigration act. It is only recently been more vigorously enforced, possibly due to events over the last several months. Not any different then the 90 day reporting, it also had been on the books for many years but only started getting heavily enforced about 10+ years ago. The first 10 years or so ago I never did a 90 day report nor anyone I knew as there was no enforcement. But it did catch up to me on an extension renewal.

  10. My PEA bill for the last 6 months with the most recent on Nov. 16. 1st column - total charge. 2nd column - base cost per unit. 3rd column - cost per unit all inclusive. Normally my bill would be going down by now. If not for the -Ft it would 3300 Baht which is higher than any previous bill for the last 5 years for this month. So 11.9% increase in base cost from the previous month. So PEA reflects MEA as expected.

    attachicon.gifCapture.JPG

There has not been any increase in the base rate. As per the presentation by the ERC Commissioner posted earlier, the electricity tariff is comprised of 3 components; the base rate; the Ft; and, VAT.

My data shows otherwise and reflects near 12% increase. The 2nd column in my post is the number of units divided by the base cost for those units, first line on the bill, which excludes Ft, VAT and the 38.22 Baht service fee. The 3rd column is the all inclusive cost/unit of base + Ft + VAT + service charge. This mirrors others experience posted here and what the OP shows.

The difference in price is due to the Ft and not a change in base tariff. What people may call the base tariff here on TVF after looking at the retail residential tariffs on the MEA or PEA website is not the actual base tariff. The base tariff comprises the transmission and distribution network costs as well as retail supply costs. Generation costs are captured by the Ft.

I don't know how more I can spell it out to you. The change I posted has nothing to do with the Ft. There were two changes in this billing cycle, the base charge and the Ft charge. The base went up and the Ft went down to a negative charge.

My topic on the negative Ft charge - Negative electricity FT (fuel tax) from PEA

  13. By the way, the 'ft' isn't a tax. It is simply a mechanism to allow the pass through for changes in variable market linked fuel prices.

It is, though it is referred to as a tariff, still a type of tax.

"Tariff” is defined as a form of duty or tax levied on goods for protective purposes and revenue purposes when they are transported from one customs area to another while custom duties are the collected income from tariff taxes.

A tariff is a tax on imports or exports (an international trade tariff).
