  1. I don't know about you but the mere mention of this unscrupulous company makes me wanna puke. Anyone who has flown with them knows about their devious underhand means they employ to make you part with your hard earned money-unwittingly.

Today I am not here to take issue with their shifty ways of extracting your money. I am way past that as I simply refuse to fly with them. Today's rant is about their unsolicited emails to me. Yes, I have clicked 'unsubscribe' but as expected the link is dead and their crap keeps coming into my inbox. I have made a request via their FB page but of course no response.

Some folks have told me simply to ignore their mail and mark them as spam but that isn't the issue, AA should have the decency and respect my choice of not wanting anything to do with them. Any advice please on how to block their mail. Thanks in advance.

If ur using webmail just block the domain address and I won't get anymore, if you are using mail account with a. Client create rule to auto delete the sender email account

  2. Do you not have any money?

Yet another 'i don't have kids so I dont understand the question' answer.

Of course i got money otherwise I wouldn't be able to spend the last 10 yrs in Thailand and raise a family.

Yeah, pretty much like those 'why do they allow children on airplanes' posts.

They're not from parents and don't have a clue.

    Erh, I DO have kids.

So who's the clueless one now??

So if you got kids why did you write do you have money? Because you would know that taking a family of 4 to a place which cost a grand each to get in is gonna cost u the best part of 7- 8 k after extras, dinner and ice cream so if you can find somewhere cheap to get in ur straight away winning.

This topic has been covered many times, and as recently as a few months ago. So just search for forum for a wealth of ideas.

  5. I've never really understood why people use Skype as a VOIP replacement. Why not just use VOIP? It's cheaper, compatible with everything (including people who only have a landline phone and no PC), doesnt depend on proprietary software, has no ads and should continue to work with any hard or soft VOIP phone indefinitely.

Not a really we'll thought out statement on your part, skype is probably the popular VOIP supplier out there and being able to phone unlimited to 30+ countries on landlines and 10+ for landlines and mobiles for about $15 as well as free PC to PC, app to app calls it's hard to beat although quality is a bit crap at times.

  6. For those using lastpass who want a bit of extra security use google authenticator, on top of ur master password u need to enter a app generated code before you can login, works well and means if someone some how found the master password they still couldn't login

  8. Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a regualr minvan service that goes from Huahin to Pattaya without the need to go into Bangkok, i know there is a bus but that only goes through late at night or early in the moring, minivan would be better

    thanks

  9. Hi,

I know there are lots of topics about this, but couldn’t find one who really answers my questions.

I’m currently using True internet with true vision (the TV channel) at my condo, lad phrao area, said to speed at 14/1.4 (I don’t think I get even half of this)

I’m moving next week to a house in a MooBan at ramkhameng soi 140 area.

I’m wondering if I should have true following me there (I called them, they can move, but they couldn’t tell me how may days to do so) or I’d better change for an other provider like TOT or 3BB.

I used to have 3BB fews years ago in Chonburi and it was totally crap, but I know it can dramatically be different from an area to another.

I would also love to find a way getting some Tv channel when I could watch the rugby games (especially French, but also international, like the Australian one Skysport), and maybe some company provide box or’satellite TV ?

What about the “djou djai” package from TOT ? is it fast internet ? Tv channels interesting ?

I would need an internet fast enough to watch streaming programs

    Any advise would be appreciated,

    Thanks

I would stick with true at least if there is issues they are out and looking at the line ASAP unlike others, probably the most reliable aswell

  10. Don't let it happen to you. Insure your loved ones and yourself.

I've no concern as to whether I die, but only if I survive. Then the expense begins.

A quality policy will provide. Ensure you're covered for your risks, otherwise you're screwed.

Cheap policies don't provide, and that's because they're reliant on holders not reading, or considering, the small print.

    Any recommendations??
  11. Windows has a built-in firewall that is perfectly adequate for a machine that is behind a NAT router (which they almost invariably are).

Avast free AV is also perfectly adequate as long as the users avoid installing dodgy software and visiting dodgy websites.

If you are worried that they may download dodgy software or visit dodgy websites then a sandbox is a much more practical tool to use. Sandboxie for example.

It's a firewall and adequate for blocking programs but im yet to see it block browser addons that may try and contact ad networks.

If the OP wants a free AV then Microsoft security essentials for win 7 or rebranded to Defender in Win8 is as good as any free ones but if you want some more ooomf the a paid one is better.

  12. For some software I need to run now-a-day I needed to set-up a dedicated MS Windows computer, before I only used MS Windows as a guest operating system running in a virtual machine on my Linux computer.

So I bought a small Asus Z87M-Plus motherboard accompanied with a Intel i5-4670K, added 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 memory and a Samsung 840 EVO SSD and convinced a seller in Panthip to sell me a original version of MS Windows 7 Ultimate x86_64.

Installed everything in a small Gview ITC Cola slim/low-profile case and all looks good and runs very smooth.

My question is what is the best option for a Firewall, and probably Anti-virus? I prefer separate programs for Firewall and Anti-Virus, but cannot really tell why that is.. Probably it's probably because I have the idea if one program fails you directly completely out of protection.

Second preference is x86_64 coded software, what I concluded in a quick search was that most Firewall / Anti-virus programs are still just 32-bits software. And as I use this computer to run some heavy application that needs all memory resources it can get its hands on I prefer to run x86_64 coded software.

So what to what for Firewall and Anti-virus software do I need to buy?

Your gonna get alot of different answers on this so my 2pence worth Iv tried a few and I would say ESET Internet security doesn't seem to slow the machine down like a few others you can get a 30 day trial from there site

  13. To be honest usually that does not work that way. Usually it means reinstalling the programs again and put the settings back they were. That way things work smoothly, you can of course back up things like your documents and emails. Programs is usually something you have to install again.

I am certainly no novice but its still a big task (time consuming) but doable if you know what your doing.

A full system backup/restore will put your machine exactly as it was program settings documents file structure the only question is is it reliable cross hardware

it's not a question - it's guaranteed to fail, because the new machine won't use the same drivers

Just a very small lesson on PC history for you , prior to windows 2000 you put in some new hardware you had to provide the driver disk,2000 or after you pop in the hardware windows recognize it and install the drivers, so when you restore the image and start the machine it also recognizes the new hardware and installs the necessary drivers, it isn't going to use drivers for hardware that is not in the system that would be like saying you have an onboard soundcard and install a nice new one and it uses the on board sound drivers, doesn't work like that buddy lol

  14. Thanks for the advice guys, i thought it might be air con related so Iv started to turn that off at night, im also not a big fan of tablets/antibotics and rarley take them but after 3 or 4 weeks i think its time to do so . i think when you get ill over here it tends to stay with you longer than it would if european countries..

  15. Iv had a cough now for about 3 - 4 weeks and its getting on me nerves now, kind of like a smokers cough without the smoker, had it for about 3 weeks, the last week or so Iv been getting headaches as if i have a head cold also, all my previous times of being ill iv gone to the docs or hospital and they have given me some pills that when i get home and look them up are completely different to what my symptoms are, so hence to say my confidence level in the docs are low.

Anybody had anything similar who live in thailand and what antibotics sorted it out for them, cheers
