If the last one lasted 5 yrs this one probably will aswell so my advice is simple, future proof it by going quad core and 16gig ram

To be honest usually that does not work that way. Usually it means reinstalling the programs again and put the settings back they were. That way things work smoothly, you can of course back up things like your documents and emails. Programs is usually something you have to install again.
I am certainly no novice but its still a big task (time consuming) but doable if you know what your doing.
A full system backup/restore will put your machine exactly as it was program settings documents file structure the only question is is it reliable cross hardware
-
If i was you i would create a system backup and then restore it onto the new PC, check out this video to see if its something you can do..
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/back-up-your-programs-system-settings-and-files
Does this also works if the hardware of the new PC isn't identically to the old pc ?
It's not recommended by Microsoft but it does work and worth a go if your a novice and want to go it alone, another option is to download ccleaner from ccleaner.com open it then go to tools then uninstall tab and then click save to text file which will write all installed programs to a text file, take that's exit file on a USB stick into the shop where the OP is buying new PC and pay the guys a few hundred extra to install all files from the text file.

Been using google authenticator to sign into me last pass and Dropbox account and wondering why the banks can't impliment this
. Fire up the app on ur phone that's linked to your account, put in ur ATM card the app gives you a 4 or 6 digit code that last for 1 minute, that's it no more skimming.
Also what's wrong with encrypting the pin code on the strip

I have one PC that was running 8.0, and now is running 8.1 after doing MS's 2.8 GB online update yesterday, which seemed to take about an hour, most of it in the install process.
One certain tip: for anyone looking to install the 8.1 upgrade on an 8.0 machine, run Windows Update FIRST and make sure all recommended updates are installed.
As for me, I can't stomach the lack of a real start menu in either 8.0 or 8.1, so I already had Classic Shell installed on my 8.0 machine. And now there's a newer Classic Shell version 4.0 that's just recently been released and, I assume, will play better with 8.1.
The 3.x version of Classic Shell I had on my 8.0 machine worked fine... But after doing the 8.1 update, it no longer worked for some reason. I don't know if it was a versioning issue or simply that the 8.1 update broke the previously installed version. But after I installed the newer 4.0 Classic Shell version on top of the fresh 8.1 Windows install, Classic Shell worked fine again for the newly installed 8.1 machine.
Tiles may be great for tablets and phones. But I HATE!!!!! them on a desktop PC.
BTW, I've heard that there is some setting in Win 8.1 that supposedly will allow booting direct to the desktop. Here's CNET's take on how to accomplish that... Guess I'll have to give it a try now.\

It's not necessary to install update beforehand only the one I mentioned in a earlier post, infact I purposely didn't update as 8.1 would have all the updates in anyway

I'm not a massive fan of the tiles but its unfortunately not going anywhere so I might aswell get used to it, as for the classic shell program I cannot see the point in that at all, as long as you organized your programs on the tile menu with favouries first u simply click start then click the tile, having the classic menu program just says I'm not willing to change and that's one thing we all have to do or get left behin in this technology driven world.
The tile interface is OK if you only have a few tiles. In my start menu I have hundreds of links for programmes and applets, and pinned and recent documents all of which I can get to with just one mouse movement without hiding the content of my desktop or switching windows.
It is totally impossible to use the tile interface in this way. It's fine for people who dont need to do very much.
I would have thought it would be more efficient the more you have, not only can you group programs as you wish in the normal view you can click the down or up arrow to show all programs alphabetically then quickly scroll to wherever you need to be.

The 8.1 update has made the tile thing bearable, not sure why but being able to boot straight to desktop and click the start button to go to programs makes it ok ish.

It's wrong that the banks don't take more of an interest, after all the ATM machines are owned by the banks and there responsibility, if somebody has attached an illegal gadget to it then it should be down to them not the customer.
Nowadays with all the fraud about they should implement better security than 20 ur old standard pin security, if they used a OTP either by SMS or by an app provided by the bank that would make things more difficult for the skimmers, I'm sure it wouldn't be fool proof but it would certainly make it more difficult.

It's worth noting that Fox Sports (109) and Fox Sports HD (163) don't always carry the same programming.
I normally watch the UFC on Friday, Saturday (if I'm not inebriated) and Sunday Nights on Fox Thai (78)
totster
Have you ever watched in live on Sunday morning around 9ish on CTH?
-
Weird that even on TV guide on Internet no mention of UFC on sunday
-
Feel for you man, day to day dealings in general is stressful at times.
-
Hi,
Is Fox Sports shown in HD? I see it broadcasts the UFC on Sunday morning. I'm sure before when I had True they showed the UFC in HD on a different channel?
However, when I check the CTH schedule for Fox Sports, it doesn't list the UFC. Are these not the same channel?
Cheers,
Angry.
There is only one fox sports asia so it should be that one, what does the TV guide day is on at 9am?

If you want 3G then you need a 3G version which has wifi as standard also get whatever 3g is best in the area you live,
Once you have the iPad you sign up for a appleid to download games from the AppStore this is the only place you can download from you cannot download from anywhere else as there is nowhere else, plenty of free games but be careful on the ones who then charge in app which basically gives you more features
Office will be coming to the iPad soon but don't expect it to be anything like the desktop version, there are plenty of app that will open office docs natively.
If you will be using alot then get a 32 FB version so all in all you want a 3G 32tb version and expect to pay aroun 20k for that they come in black or white

Maybe i missing something but the OP says the school renews it every 90 days so he wouldnt even need to do a 90 day reporting, would hey???

Over the weekend my laptop stopped working, initial thoughts are its a fan issue as it was coming on, showing a orange light then immediately going off, then when i let it cool down for a couple of hours it started up.
Now it wont power on at all could of blown a fan or the board either way looking for a reliable guy that isnt going to double the price as soon as they see me.
In all honesty if my ipad had decent flash for streaming sports id just use that but as far as I know it cannt really be done, unless somebody is using a decent streaming service for pad
cheers in advance
