But the accompanying idea that there was an invisible transgender army back in the 1960s who were pressured socially not to reveal themselves doesn't fly, according to the data. Because parallel to the explosion of people identifying as "transgender" has come a corresponding huge increase in suicide among young people, especially the transgender ones, showing that this is a new and tragic phenomenon which is being promoted by activists and enabled by social media.
I disagree- As societies' have liberalised and first gay people and then trans people have felt more emboldened to be themselves, both groups were met with a very spiteful right-wing backlash. Hence the rise in suicides for those vulnerable groups in the respective periods.
Nowadays this poison is being touted by politicians and grifters in a far more revolting and prevalent manner than in the 80s.

An ASEAN now forum and you all seem to have found a way to rant about wokism, right wing, left wing, book burning in America etc.
I suppose it is a good break from 87 year olds providing savvy tips on how to save on electricity costs when the main issue is clearly building management charging double supply costs. Even better, 75 year olds who dont ride motorcycles telling us all how to ride a motorcyle safely in Thailand.
How intersting this place is.
Where have I said anything about those things? Another troll as given away by your chosen log-in name. Where are the mods?

I have asked him to take it to an on topic thread (of which there is a thread running ) , that way it wont be deleted for being off topic .
Staying on topic really isn't "trolling"
Then you should not have made the claim. This is also off topic so please don't feel a need to reply.

All I asked for was even a single link.
Why even bring it up if you're not prepared to back it up? Seems to be a trend in this thread. ????
Trolling- makes a claim and when asked to back it up says it would be off topic. A student of right wing trolling methods can find a fertile playing field (55) in several characters on AN.

I guess Putin couldn't get back in time from Mariupol. The washing machine semiconductors substituted on his Aeroflot Airbus flight were probably playing up, sending the plane into a spin dry.
Is that not something of a snub to the new leader of the (soon to be) free world?

Yes, and they are already on the ground and preparing the case against Putin as a war criminal. I'm surprised you haven't seen that in the news. Not on RT?

Biden's corruption is far more egregious and dangerous to America than any of Trumps achievments as a real estate mogul where he eraned millions. Biden got wealthy while engaged in pay for play schemes as VP. he sold out his country, he's a traitor.

Your links in no way offer any support for your nonsense. Nice to see another newbie trump troll on the board- welcome.

That's really unfair BM2. Lady Mone was already a lady (apparently) and now she's had to do a runner with all that lovely loot.

Unsurprising to see the usual right wings trolls getting owned on this thread. Is there a thread where they don't make idiots of themselves running presently anyone could direct me to?

"Necklacing" is the practice of filling the bottom space of an empty tyre with petrol, hanging it around the victim's neck then setting it alight.

UK visa rules to be relaxed for foreign construction workers in a bid to plug post-Brexit labour shortages
Visa rules will be relaxed to allow more foreign construction workers to come to the UK in a bid to tackle labour shortages in certain industries.
The Government is expected to relax rules for roofers, plumbers, bricklayers, carpenters and plasterers to plug gaps in the construction labour force and boost economic growth.
More knee jerk reaction from this hopeless tory shower. Get them out.

The best definition I've heard so far is that "Whatever I don't like is Woke." Which of course exposes the idiocy of such a concept.
Aal moment reinforces the hollowness of ‘woke’ as an attack
One of conservative writer Bethany Mandel’s least disputable comments during her appearance on the Hill’s streaming show “Rising” was a prediction she made as she fumbled a reply to host Briahna Joy Gray: “This is going to be one of those moments that goes viral.”
Mandel had been asked a seemingly simple question by Gray. She was on the show to promote a book she wrote with another conservative writer, Karol Markowicz, a book that purports to demonstrate how “radicals” are “indoctrinating” young people in America. Mandel began the interview by asserting that there is “sort of a woke reimagining of our society” that is “happening in a lot of different ways” — spurring Gray to eventually ask her what she meant by the term “woke.”
<link snipped as it was misbehaving and seen already>
It's an interesting point. I wonder if any posters here are able to define woke in the way we see it used by the political right. Their representatives certainly don't.

Have a YouTube at the UK place in India, that sorts out folk applying to get to the UK, it is worth a laugh...
I don't imagine you have any sort of source to support your first sentence, but I disagree.
I think I've seen the stuff on youtube about that and I agree with you that it's ridiculous if it's the same thing, but isn't the abuse of the visa system as opposed to people coming on boats?

Refugees apply for visas at embassies, that's the legal route? Do you have any idea how foolish you make yourself sound?

That wouldn't stop people from sailing across, now would it .
If they got refused a UK visa in Calais , they would still sail across
It would also encourage people to head for Calais to get processed or to apply .
But it would provide a legal route to the UK, which has got to be an important stepping stone or partial foundation to sorting out this mess.

A good idea would be check to see whether they qualify BEFORE they start their journey to the U.K .
Rather than going all the way to the UK and being sent back again, why not check before they leave ?
If they are allowed to enter the UK , then give then a piece of paper that will allow them entry , Visas, I think they are called
So why on earth haven't the UK govt set up a processing centre in France. I may be wrong, but I believe they were invited to and refused.
