I keep asking myself why they bother having any laws in Thailand of there is zero enforcement by a failed institution that is supposed to enforce laws.

Long ago there was a Maharadja of Yokjakarta that let his people have their own way and he only said that if the people would abuse this system, they spilled their beans and the government would have to enforce again. What I was told by a guide in Indonesia that system worked well for a while. Would not work in Thailand. Total anarchy.

It is the norm in any developed country that, regardless of whether yo are a driver or a rider, you pass on the OUTSIDE (the lane furthest from the curb), unless there are designated speed lanes such as on autobahn. Passing on the inside is suicidal and dangerous for all road users. Why it is tolerated in Thailand escapes me.

On Thai roads, you might expect really anything coming out from any hole, street or shop. Riding on the right lane is the safest way actually. But, then again, when all is safe they refuse to go back to the left. Would you not overturn on the left?

If I am riding my motorbike, and going to make a right hand turn or U turn ahead of me on a two lane carriageway and the road is busy, I will be out on that right hand lane in plenty of time and to hell with any regulations.

No car or truck is going to let you in even though you are indicating in plenty of time, so you may have to get out early.

Like the Thai do? One kilo up front as they (too) are probably scared to not be able to get 'in'.

For that I don't know the rule.

But I have read repeatedly read that motorcycle riders have been fined for driving on the right lane at Sukhumvit Bangkok. So why should it be limited to Bangkok?

Tailgating a motorcycle where two lanes are available?

    So stupid.

It's not forbidden to undertake when there a two or more lanes in same direction.

Just that the exact rule is: flash the lights and wait for the vehicle ahead to use right indicator. Typically before a U-turn or right turn.

But who follows this rule :whistling:

Still there is an obligation to drive on the left.

Buses and lorries follow that rule. Specially on badly maintained roads where the drive to the better right lane.  You flash your lights and they will indicate right indicator. Yes, I know, those are professional drivers (though not all 55)

You're confused. Anti trump speech may or may not be prompted by hatred. But it's the content of the speech that qualifies it as hate speech, not the alleged motivation behind it. Get a grip.

Not confused at all. It's the tone that makes the music or like it comes originally from the French language "C'est le ton qui fait la musique".

I, that means me, my opinion, I feel hatred in the anti Trump speech here on TV. And you just tell me to get a grip. Get a life.

Thanks for all the advice.  Sudocrem gives me a rash!!  (Anything that I put on my face gives me a rash...)

I've carefully examined my diet, but have been unable to identify any particular allergic reaction.

when my skin flares up, the red patches are always exactly in the same areas of my face (forehead between my eyes, centre of chin, cheeks and above nasofolds.

And stay out of the sun. UV turns my skin super red, not sun burn.

"The hard shoulder has never been a regular traffic lane," deputy city police chief Chiraphat Phumichit said on Wednesday, vowing to take legal action against drivers who flout the law and use them as a convenience.

These types of accident have become quite frequent Pol Maj Gen Chiraphat said.
Stiffer punishments against violators will be one measure to stop motorists, the deputy city police said, adding
that those caught would be fined up to 1,000 baht.
Exat also plans to create uneven surfaces along hard shoulders, that will make them uncomfortable to travel
along, its deputy governor Dumkerng Pankam said.
He said various campaigns to persuade drivers not to use hard shoulders have all proved ineffective.
One reason is people wrongly believe they are "allowed" to drive on them and think they are an easy way to beat
    traffic congestion during rush hours
, said a representative from the Accident Prevention Network.

Funny country this is. On the highways signs tell moped drivers to drive on the hard shoulder.

Might even get fined if you don't do that.

I suppose the basic problem with Trump is would you want him next to you in a foxhole? Clearly no, the person you would want would be to some extent trustworthy, which our friend Trump is not.

I would. Probably a very interesting opportunity and boy, together bashing democrats and other funny people like Macron. Hope he brings some good American wines.

..said to be a modern-day mind control victim...???

...and why was Lennon a target...???

Yes, a mad man to be influenced easily. Specially picked and mind controlled by the deep state most probably. Standard MO.

Lennon wasn't all that 'clean' during the (later) Beatles period. Later on he turned himself openly against the elitist. Unthankful creatures need to die. Same M Jackson, Freddy M???

I wouldn't jump to conclusions.  This smells like a set up ala Gary Hart.

Avenatti is a very smart lawyer.  Doubtful he would strike or assault a woman.  He's claiming she assaulted him first, and his ex-wife says domestic violence is completely out of character.

I live in a village, a shop next door,  another 50 yards down the street. Buy a packet of aspirins and you get a plastic bag to carry them home in. From the start I said no plastic and bought a reusable bag (think Aldi)  I was probably considered a weirdo.  The shops now know and accept my curious behaviour.

Perhaps a national campaign can change attitudes, are Thais so resistant to international trends?

Yes, I know they're thick, I've been married to a band of them for 15 years.

When I go to Big C they pack the heavy stuff in double bags. Ok service as things might fall thru. They are mostly struggling to get like 6 packs in the small bags.

Recently I brought my reusable bag for avoiding all those double bags and the hassle (for them!). To my surprise they didn't pack my shopping in the reusable bag. Had to do it myself, what?? I found that rather confusing as I save them and the environment at least 4 bags on one go and save them the hassle too. Ok, no reusable bag anymore.

    Yeah, LOL, curious behavior.

I know what you mean about these rabid Trump supporters.  They manage to explain everything away, even though their explanations never make any sense.  With Mueller, it should be painfully obvious to even the most brainwashed that Trump's desperation to shut down this investigation MUST demonstrate that he has something to hide.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Even if Trump/Whitaker decides to shut down the investigation, the House Intel or Oversight committees can just resurrect it in short order.  The Dems winning back the House really does change things.  I don't think Trump has grasp yet what it all means.

I think Mueller should be fired asap for incompetence. Almost 2 years later and still cannot close his case.

So if the volume of transactions has increased a lot (seems it has) then there is a clear case for more staff or more efficiency or both.

I've noticed many comments over the last few years from the imm. boss in CM that he cannot get approval for more staff.

Why not? Maybe Bkk consider that the staff to transactions ratio is suitable as it is?

Or, has he received more funds but ......

I am not denying it could be a tough job, but, seen many same faces there for the last ten years so it cannot be that bad. Moreover, extra staff? Productivity should be raised and can be raised if only they wanted to. Maybe BKK boss knows this too.

No wonder they are losing so much money with only 97 passengers on a 747. Admittedly there could have been more on the outbound flight, but I doubt if it was the 400+ a 747 can hold, as it's too much of an imbalance. That said, it was a change of equipment from the usual 777.

Well, 18 crew members is quite a lot for 97 passengers. Cancellations?

Don't forget that Thai Air takes in a lot of cargo. Maybe that's why they use these big planes on short hauls. Cargo is good biss. CNX-BKK is about 26 Baht/kg. 60 x 26=1560 Baht. So transporting people is costly.

This is more Trumpian nonsense deisgned to take the focus attention away from deeper pressing domestic matters.

Just like Trump blames raping Mexicans and greedy Chinese job stealers, Europeans and others who “don’t pay their way for defence”. None of the proposed initiatives will benefit the enforcer but it certainly diverts attention of the mostly xenophobic support base these mongrels try to satisfy.

I thought this topic was not about Trump.
