  1. I suspect that most of the comments here are generated by 1 - the commentors being out of tune with what younger people like to see (rightly or wrongly, but in my opinion it's part of the dumbing down of society. Remember, though, the brainless slapstick comedy of old, especially in the USA). 2 - jealousy that he is so successful doing something he loves, making tons of money and having masses of people who like what he does.
  2. Just the usual five year-old child type excuses that Thais come up with.
  3. Wonderfully Thai. It was the restaurant's fault. Always someone else, not members of her group. The girlfriend of the second victim, a 28 year old man, expressed her shock and grief at the sudden loss, stating she felt deeply let down by the restaurant’s management.
  4. No it doesn't. The line that passes the airport is not the Skytrain. The BTS will take you to Mor Chit, where a frequent bus service, A1 or A2, will take you on to the airport for 30 baht. Maybe A3 and A4 too, but they are less frequent and charge 50 baht going from the airport as they go further. Take the furthest exit when leaving the station, towards the right and then go left to the bus stop when on the street.
  5. I've been told on this site that, although they are both police, their records are not linked. Therefore, when stopped and asked for ID they can't check your status via your passport number. Not that they need to, I suppose, with your passport in hand.
  6. A friend of mine in the US told me her father, who has breathing difficulties, was considering moving to Chiang Mai, and she asked me for my views. I told her it might be the worst possible place for him to relocate to. So yes, the headline is accurate.
  7. I read once of someone who was being taken for a ride, with his date bringing along several friends for a free feed off of the farang. He told them he was off to the toilet, and left the restaurant and for them to pay for all the food they had ordered. Serves them right.
  8. Suwat has been charged with intentional murder, a crime that carries severe penalties Oh, really? A Thai woman’s life was tragically cut short when she was stabbed to death by a fellow Thai man at her condominium in Bangkok. And what's with the Thai woman killed by a Thai man in Bangkok? Why the nationality named, as if it played a significant and unexpected role in the crime? Do we ever read of, say, an American man killing an American woman in Chicago? Or an Australian man killing an Australian women in Sydney? Bizarre journalism. Add to that, so often giving the number plate number when there's an road accident.
  9. My nomination for Post Of The Month. Who could argue against what it says?
  10. Don't you love Thailand. Illegal gamblers who don't even deny the charge then accuse the police of criminal activity. But this is a clear indication of why Thailand will never have legal casinos (notice how talk of them has gone very quiet?) The police, along with 'untouchables', either run the illegal ones or make money from them,
  11. The rider was dead and the lorry was gone and there are no witnesses mentioned, so how do they know what happened? Guesswork, probably right, but written as fact. More great journalism.
  12. An AN headline from a couple of days ago: Scammer Tells Police: Thais Most Gullible In Asia And another: Thai man trapped in a crooked web of deceit seeks media help after being swindled by cunning con artist.
  13. How can you misunderstand a rape attempt? The lies - sorry, explanations - people come up with here are what a five year old would invent where I come from.
  14. I have as much right to ask questions as anyone else and it was a legitimate question. I also wrote that you no doubt had your reasons for wanting to know if the internet was working or not when you aren't there, and that it was not my business to know why that is. I didn't suggest there were no reasons. In fact, I wrote the exact opposite.
  15. Isn't that what monkeys do? Same intelligence level probably.
  16. Remember where this happened. Common sense is entirely absent in Thailand.
  17. A million people a year are injured on Thai roads. This one didn't even need to be on a road to be knocked down.
  18. Anyone I know would leave an abusive relationship. But then, i come from a country that isn't awash with guns so such executions are rare.
  19. Just one of the English words that the Thais mis-use. Like Mansion for buildings containing cheap one-room apartments. And mafia for small-time crooks.
  20. Now I'm wondering why it is important to know if the internet is working in a place he isn't at, but no doubt there's a logical reason. Which is none of my business.
  21. Just today I've been wondering if the same thing applies to never arresting those who operate the boats containing hundreds of people trying to illegally enter Europe. The 'refugees' pay thousands of dollars for the trip. To who? And how? With many thousands of passengers a year, how it it not possible to trace the money trail by questioning the passengers?
