  1. I know there's no internet connection when my laptop says displays No internet connection. No device needed. I guess the same thing happens with a phone.
  2. It's ridiculous. I've been married for over 32 years, lived in Thailand with her for close to 30 years and still have to wait for weeks while they decide whether I can 'visit' her. And then I have to report myself to immigration every three months as if I'm a criminal on probation. What, exactly, do they spend a month considering? They have evidence money is in the bank, they have the Kor Ror 2 confirming we are married. What the **** is their problem?
  3. The bus driver, identified only as Mr. Saichon, 45, told the associated Thai press that another vehicle in front of his bus immediately braked. He tried to avoid the collision but failed as he was going too fast and too close to the vehicle in front. There. Finished the sentence.
  4. We read reports like this over and over again. Stealing food from children is just part of the culture in a morally bankrupt country.
  5. I've had an HSBC account for something like 40 years and along the way they accepted my having a Thai address. Things tightened up (UK address needed) many years ago, but I wasn't told to close my account. New rules didn't apply to existing customers. Grandfathered, they call it. And that hasn't changed. Barclaycard also accept my Thai address in transactions but not to send my new cards to. They go to my sister's UK address (before HSBC I had a Barclays account, hence the Barclay visa card). I have never understood how they allow both addresses, but I'll take it. They did once tell me they were closing the account and I should call them. I did, and they knew nothing about that and the account has continued for years after. So it appears that the banks are being selective about who they close down. What criteria they use, I have no idea. But it isn;t based only on where you live.
  6. Yes. Less than half the people in the poll supported his being charged. Of course, we all know that polls are useless. How many did they ask? Where? All social and economic groups? How was the question posed?
  7. Why did he want to keep those documents anyway?
  8. Yes. But that's why they link the full article. I think it's strange when the entire linked article is already in the original thread. Can't see the point of that.
  9. How is the mall responsible for someone breaking into her car? Many years ago I was working in Brighton, UK, a week after the IRA had bombed the Grand Hotel where Maggie Thatcher and members of her government were staying. I used the car park behind the hotel, where a police incident cabin had been set up - and my car was broken in to and a couple of bottles of scotch stolen from the boot. That pi**ed me off, what with it happening with plod there on-site. The thief had a nerve.
  10. I wonder how many other criminals are driving taxis. Not including those we already know of in Phuket, of course.
  11. But, you are trying to use logic and common sense???? Have you forgotten where we are? ???? And, as we are where we are, you do that even on a one-way street.
  12. If she is so rich and with that kind of life-style, why does she want to be a cop?
  13. Does that mean they will publish the price list?
  14. I'm not your pal. and Pattaya News isn't tabloid press. Why do you think they'd make up the quote? I'd guess you have no answer to that. Not one that would make sense anyway.
  15. Low intelligence, lack of self-control and seemingly ready access to guns, all common in Thailand. What could possibly go wrong.
  16. Less qualifications needed than to work in a 7-11. Anyone is allowed to be a parent, no matter what, and there are consequences.
  17. If you read right to the end of the report above, if you have the time, then we are told what happened by a named eye-witness. You don't even need to read the linked article. Why you are not able to understand 'An eyewitness, Wirat Wiratchalap, shared his account of the incident, stating that he saw the man driving at high speed before losing control of his motorcycle on a curve' is puzzling.
  18. Risky, when we don't know what was entered into the database by the IO. My advice would be to go to a country where they welcome people, rather than threaten them.
  19. They never have. I remember in the Saudi gems scandal a police chief's wife wore one of the stolen items at a function.
  20. Where did you read that? Or did you make it up? And why?
  21. How original. How boring. Did you actually read the article?
  22. Trust in people or institutions is essential, but so many of those in Thailand cannot be trusted. Police, politicians, bank staff, even lawyers. It undermines the whole of society. No wonder so many in the land of smiles are so angry and ready to explode at any time over even the smallest of things, when it all becomes too much to bear.
  23. .Seems clear enough to me. Separate charge: Therefore, the issue is no longer the holding of the shares but rather if Pita knowingly competed. If they can't get him one way then they'll try another.
  24. Therefore, the issue is no longer the holding of the shares but rather if Pita knowingly competed. If found guilty, Pita could face significant prison time and be disqualified. Good news that he could be disqualified and jailed? Really?
  25. Sometimes more than one. Also today: Jealous man fatally stabs girlfriend Just part of the culture.
