  1. A bit like those who have wondered about using the border at Mukdahan and not actually entering Laos, but hanging around for a few hours and then crossing the road to re-enter.
  2. Sadly, it's true. Aimed at people who can't think for themselves so they have to be led. Usually the influencers are harmless, but sometimes they are called Donald Trump and then there's a problem as then loonies appear out of nowhere and all hell breaks loose.
  3. Bearing in mind that in many countries it hits 40+ for large parts of the year and aircon is essential, I wonder how they survive? Maybe you got sick from something else, or do you have to carefully choose where you travel to, places too cool to use aircon, in fear of getting sick?
  4. Why doesn't she complain about Thai men who 'flee the scene' once a girl is pregnant? Whether the baby is male or female.
  5. I'd imagine 'side doors' would be alarmed, wouldn't you? But then, we re in Thailand.... I remember at DM someone was able to walk through an 'alarmed' door and get on the tarmac.
  6. Twice in a row I arrived at LAX and had a two hour wait, missing a connecting flight. The IO said that didn't matter.
  7. I might have done in Baku too, but I don't think so. I was just curious if anywhere else had such a rule, if that's okay with you. That's how we learn things, by asking questions. Most countries don't, in my experience of something like 35 borders. so I was wondering why Thailand finds it necessary.
  8. 1 - Each country has their own immigration regulations. Doesn't answer my question, does it. The correct answer is either yes or no.
  9. In an earlier report the 'famous' pub, unknown to us as Thai law protects the guilty so it can't be named, denied all responsibility for customers being assaulted by their security guards on their premises. I'm all for someone demanding that the police investigate, whether via TikTok or any other means.
  10. They don't need a landing card now - although you still need to complete one if entering by land - but they need a boarding card. Thai logic in action. You need the landing card at x arrival point but not at y arrival point. I'm sure it makes sense to the locals, but we aren't educated enough to understand.
  11. Another question - did you read the linked article?
  12. Well, except for when a number of Chinese were drowned, which put a dent in arrival figures for a while - until another little problem like someone from China being shot dead by a kid while she was shopping came along. That didn't go down too well either in Beijing.
  13. The boat actually had life jackets?!! Or was it Bring Your Own
  14. Is there anywhere on the form to add comments/additional information, where you could explain your position?
  15. 1 - Does anyone have any experience of having to show their boarding card to immigration anywhere else in the world? 2 - Do the airlines when preparing to land instruct their passengers to retain their boarding pass and not leave it on the plane? 3 - How does showing your boarding pass 'expedite the immigration process'? 4 - Why do these ''documents' (boarding passes) 'need to be registered by immigration officers'?
  16. The fact it happens elsewhere is irrelevant to this thread.
  17. If you don't work in Thailand you don't paid. Several years ago a worker at one of Thailand's biggest companies tried to organise a union and was murdered.
  18. That's the problem. It's their best.
  19. The taxi driving thugs (I refuse to call them mafia as they are small-time crooks) had their chance as the island tried to recover after the tsunami and again after the pandemic. They just don't care as the punishment, if any, is meaningless and foreigners keep rolling up regardless. Let's hope she's Chinese and the word goes around back home.
  20. Passive resistance - as in withdrawing labour? If they do that they don't get paid. Otherwise, passive resistance in what form, I wonder? I'm curious, because you might be on to something, Long shot, but...... As for 'not your country' - you've been here longer than about half the Thai population. And I've been here getting on for 30. A pity we still don't have a voice, isn't it. Not that would count anyway, same as the locals.
  21. Makes a change to ladyboys stealing gold chains from Indians, doesn't it.
  22. But but but - the club said the serious life-threatening assaults by their security staff in their club wasn't their responsibility. At least, they claim none. It was all someone else's fault.
  23. These new train extensions are a magnet for death and falling debris, aren't they. At least three in recent weeks.
  24. That has been in place for years, surely. Unless you brew C***g, in which case you can advertise it by pretending you're only promoting the mug and not the beer. Others face hundreds of thousand baht fines and/or prison for showing a logo on a restaurant menu.
