It's actually been run by Rick's wife since he died many years ago. I've been there in the past and could drive over again to see what's what, but I'd prefer to find out if any members here have relevant information.

If it is also known as Neungs pies (?) ...i go there every Wednesday for there sausage rolls, and bread and burger buns etc are always on display.

Interesting thanks. Which PC policy would you have gone for as they have quite a few......

I was with Passport Card/David Shield and changed to April Int end of 2021 because they hiked their premium 30% mid band - apparently with everybody. Up to that point they were by far the best value cover for, if memory serves me, $1m......

I have been looking at Cigna but the Close Care has a yearly condition maximum of £165k so for something like cancer/heart stuff not sure if that is enough and the Silver Care is more expensive (but higher cover) than April Basic.

I think @Sheryl had Cigna before, if I remember correctly, but switched to April?

(Apologies if wrong and must have been another poster.)

The most affordable one with the choice of different deductibles and the 10/15% no claims discount..sorry i cant be more specific.

Unfortunately mine at the Pattaya branch did not even though my query was directed to him personally for which I can see no excuse.

I have already officially notified April to remove AA World as my broker from my renewal date in 2 months 9the earliest they would action it) and they have confirmed that.

Thanks for the info on your new broker. I may follow your lead but still undecided whether to continue with April.

Fwiw if i was 60 and not 65 when i joined up with April i would have joined Pacific Cross instead. The put off for Pacific Cross which i swallowed was that, and i quote "if you had something go wrong with your back in the 1st 3 years of your Policy with Pacific Cross then you can expect to pay at least 300,000baht towards any medical costs as a bad back would be classed(?) as a pre existing condition."

Ironic really as the very reason that Passport/David Shield increased there premiums significantly was because of 2 claimants for back issues cost the aforementioned company nearly 2 million baht  ....money which they were not going to back in a hurry with the then premium price of 65k to 70k baht per year.......Brokers huh.

And we will be back in 10 years.

Funny innit how the Quitters keep banging on about democracy.

We in UK elect our government at General Elections every 5 years.

If we see that this elected government are not up to the job then we have a chance to kick them out after said 5 year term.

The traitorous Quitters don't mention this in their incessant crying about how we proud Rejoiners point to the myriad facts that the whole Brexit thing is a disaster. They've had 7 years to prove us wrong but all they (Quitters) have to cling to is the haunted pencil Smugg on record as saying "From day one we will have cheaper clothes, footwear and food".

Suck it up Quitters. You've had your day.

    Think you will find it,s nearly 3 years....not 7

  5. PS. The 3131 quote was I presume with $500 deductible or you negotiated a further discount?

I increased the deductible to $1000 to get that lower premium,a neg liable discount i know but i figured with a certain percentage increase next year i might be doing myself a favour as the increase would be slightly less?

I will also be watching the £ to $ exchange rate and topping up the Dollar account in Wise to help with future premium payments.

  6. Age 65 2021....................2136$ with 500$ deductible

            66 2022...................2651$with 500$ deductible

            67 2023               3131$with 1000$ deductible...paid 2944$

My policy states we will not cover "Any impairment of your Eyes"....Because i take Xalatan for the prevention of Glaucoma.

I did make a claim in March this year (detached Retina) as suggested by the nice man who answered the phone at April in France (a Skype call) "who said any impairment does n,t me exactly that and you should claim".. i did claim and was refused as per there policy wording lol.

Currently claim is with "La Mediation de L,assurance"...6...months and counting.

    Hope this might help topt?

    topt,

    thanks for your comments.

Yes, April’s sales team is trying very hard to make the sale but I am going in circles with them on the hospital in-network vs. out-of-network issue.  They keep dodging the request and trying to convince me it’s not important.  Clearly the 20% deductible is one way they keep their claim costs down and apparently they don’t want word to get out on this issue or else they would be willing to share the information I requested.  From the comments here on the forum, it seems another way they keep costs down is by not having strong customer support teams in place.

Since you are a current customer, are you able to login to April’s Easy Claim mobile app, click on “Contact a doctor” and then on “Access the APRIL network” and check if any of these hospitals are listed for Bangkok?

    Bumrungrad International Hospital

    Bangkok Hospital

    Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital

    Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital

    Ramathibodi Hospital

    BNH Hospital

I can say that if there is such a list(Paciifc Cross has one) then Bangkok Pattaya Hospital is on that list but there (sister hospital?) Jomtien Hospital is not on that list.

The deductible on the policy i have "My Health International..Basic) was 500$ which i just increased to 1000$.....i am told that there is a designated April (coordinator?)in BPH who handles most/everything to do with April in that hospital.

Is there really a high season at all? It feels more like hype to me? Without the bar staff and no name Thais milling around I don’t ever see many visitors.

There,s a "High Season" alright.....just only applies to a round of Golf.

The senators mean everything here. If the senators had no vote regarding the PM, as is the norm, MF and PT would have been running the government since May.

I think the Senators come the next vote for Pm (PT,s candidate) are in no man,s land....should Mf start voting for the PT candidate are senators going to smell rat and think the so called torn up MOU agreement is back in place? There only safe option might be to abstain ..yet again?

Right, thanks.  I'' try that next time.  maybe they changed something.  I think the problem was not so much not being able to access US$ in Wise, more that the account April told me to pay into was in a French Bank and it wouldn't accept a payment in anything other than Euro (assuming you used the "pay into our account" from Wise and not using a Wise debit card).

On my app it's (recipients)to which I added April last year... I don't have a wise debit card.

  11. I just clicked on the USD Dollar logo on the Wise app and added funds from my Bank Account, added the funds over the last 2 months at varying levels of GBP to USD (1.28 to 1.30) cost me just under £10 plus the 3 USD to complete the transaction yesterday. Like you i used a debit card in the past which cost me enough plus also lost on the currency exchange.....but not this time.
