Any recent reports of getting a 2nd/back-to-back Visa Exemption (after a 30 day extension)?
Preferably from Mae Sai
If you were refused, what was the outcome? Were you forced to get a 7day extension for 1900bt at Mae Sai Immigration?
I only had one Visa Exemption this year
-
Vietnam are doing free 15day visas free
not sure if its fo americans too
-
So what would happen if one was on the last day of one's extension, and they would not let you out?
-
So if you already had an extension to your 30 day Visa exemption, can you still go to Mae Sai to get another 30day visa exemption?
-
I took it back already, they tested it and I saw it working
-
-
yes, just that I want to use it in an old dirtbike.
they told me when I bought it that it was only for cars, but I thought it worth a try.
So I want to know what works and why
-
no, you cant rotate it 180.
Could it be a negatively wired vehicle? would that make the difference?
-
Yes thats right, same fitting. Bulb has been tested elsewhere
It is a tail/stop light
I checked again, the brake light works, stop light does notwith LED
-
I tried to fit an LED bulb to my Honda Wave 110i but it didnt work.
Just a regular replacement plug in one.
Is there a reason for this? Do I need a bike with special electronics to make it work?
Is there an easy fix?

Do not switch to a manual without experience. Missing a shift on an uphill hairpin can be anything from embarrassing to deadly.
Especially 2up

Airasia Zest- a new philippine acquisition- have bagged seats for the route, but they havent got the go ahead from thailand yet so they only fly BKK-Mandalay and CNX-Rangoon currently
-
Are there any direct flights now from Chiang Mai to Mandalay?
Bangkok Air have some, but any more?
MandalayAir and Asian Wings should have some but I cannot see it on their websites, nor find a number in thailand to call
So, any websites or Offices I can actually buy a ticket?

Yes, 3 of us were turned away as we presented our passports at the exit desk. There was no argument, etc
The New Immigration Office is on the main road, twice as far from the border as the old one.on the same side
I should have got the name of the Officer
-
Well, he would have seen that my passport was from UK, and the other guy was from EU, so he got an extra 1400bt each from us for his government.
He absolutely refused to let us over the border, go shopping in Tachilek, have a holiday in Kengtung, etc.
Maybe I meant Visa Exempt Entry, anyway, the normal 30day one you get on arrival
-
Last week I went to Mae Sai rather than extend my tourist visa, on it's last day, in Chiang Mai.
The official at the border refused to let me/us leave Thailand, to go into Tachilek shopping to return with a Visa on Arrival.
He insisted that we need to go to Mae Sai Immigration to get an extension for our Tourist Visas
So we got a mototaxi back to the new Immigration Office,
2or3 km back on the highway, filled the forms in, paid 1900bt and went on our way.
The minibus had to wait for us, though it didnt take too long
I'd like to know if this is now official policy country wide
There are no VoA stamps on my passport
-
Any chance you can put a map there so we can see where you were?
-
I see some gazebos on the road op Doi Suthep, Red Bull and more, a safety car too
Does anyone know what will be happening there?

I picked up my passport this morning then went to the airport. I was told to check in and my overstay would be dealt with after I went through security,at the final check. So I was taken into an office to pay almost 2weeks overstay and get some stamps put on my new passport..this took 15minutes.then I waited for my plane. No problem

Called Immigration and was told that as I was on 30 day visa I can show up and pay overstay at airport
-
but what is to transfer?
Since there is no current stamp/visa etc anyway?
-
How can you pay into a UK current account whilst in Thailand?
Is there a branch of some bank where you can deposit cash?
Or can you pay in/transfer from a Thai Savings account?
Without incurring large fees?

Just got this in an email from the UK Consulate
Regarding a current visa in your new passport. When you receive a new passport in Bangkok you can visit our office in Chiang Mai between 0900-1130 hrs, Monday to Friday (or you can visit our Embassy in Bangkok – opening hours can be checked from:www.gov.uk/world/thailand ) for a Performa letter about details of your old and new passport and visa type. You will be completed the information and we will stamp for you. There is NO cost involved for this. The immigration require a Performa letter and they can then transfer a stamp from your old passport to the new passport. After that they can sort out an overstay and visa extension for you.
Is it really necessary?
Wont they just sort it all out at the airport?
I don't want to visit embassies etc if I don't have to, it's another big waste of time effort and expense, but I don't want to get turned back at the airport and miss my flight.
Is there an Immigration Helpline I can ring to be 100% on this?
I want to book a flight asap before they're sold out
You do not need to go to immigration. You can just go to the airport and they will handle the stamps and overstay.
I hope the Embassy will confirm that for me
cos I just got this from them
"As far as we understand you require a Performa letter
from our Embassy. You can get it if you are in Bangkok"

visa exempt visa run
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

as an update, I went to Chiang Kong Laos last week.
I got a new passport just over a year ago, I had only 2 Visa Exemption stamps on my passport
The thai Immigration officer on the way out counted my visas and said I would not be allowed back in for a Visa Exemption. Then he checked with his boss, and said it was ok this time, but not next time.
On the way back in, the same day, the woman at immigration counted all the days I had been in thailand and said I was not allowed into thailand. Then she spoke to her boss,, and he said it was ok this time, but I'd need a tourist visa next time
So maybe not just cambodia stopped the visa runs
