our pinkish Farang Thai ID has one major draw-back: it is not machine- readable and a problem for all who are to handle them (hotels, banks, gold shops ???? etc.)
is there any chance the esteemed government of Thailand steers for a change to ultra-high tech and renders this little plastic card more consumable? have it befitted with a high-tech magnet stripe or - even more state of the art- : a chip ?!

And there we have it. I "arrived" in Thailand 6 times last year. I would imagine there are many more that do the same. The "tourist" numbers that they constantly spout are nonsense. Why don't they just count those entering on tourist visas as tourists? Surely that would give them a more accurate number?
why should "they" (TAT i.a.) do this? they just build a smoke screen as gigantic as possible for multiple reasons (politics, commercial gains, entertainment industry etc.). This country is all about "hot air", just let them puff away...

" lists of drivers who are accident risks in every village and subdistrict "
opens the path for eager local croonies to wilfully play with names (guys whom they - at the same time - don't like...)
-
" Police suspect that the driver .... had been unfamiliar with the road"
this normally happens to Thai drivers only...I suspect the gentleman behind the wheel was simply too old to steer a sedan like this

Works well for me - I use half a tablet and it's fine. However a friend of mine complains that it doesn't work for him - although he's had a kidney transplant and is on immuno-suppressant drugs so that may be the explanation. It's not "Thailand's answer to Viagra" however; it's the whole world's generic version of Viagra, whose patent has now expired
and it seems to be a controlled production process: Hopefully a lot safer than the "sidewalk copycats" from India etc.
" Sidegra is made under extremely hygienic conditions by The Government Pharmaceutical organisation Thailand , it is prescribed by all Thai hospitals and Impotence specialists in Thailand , it comes in blister packs of four that is date stamped and with serial number"

Second recent shooting like this, but I think in thai news it said it was a mistake/accident
Thai news might take their standard wording "break failure on an unknown road in heavy rain, bad visibility"

any further price increase for any of that copy-cat Western junk food will help Thai people to improve their health - and nobody really needs Starbucks and Amazon coffees and the like

not on a visa but on new passport: went to Khorat Immi. on Tuesday with old and newly issued passports plus TM 6 plus Embassy letter to Immi that "please move visa to new pp". No queue, the checker girl told me to get all pages of old, photo page of new pp plus TM6 copied: Volunteer helped me, copied all stuff in a jiffy at no charge. Back to Immi again, nice chat with officer while she stamped away the afternoon. Out after 45min - splendid Khorat experience, nice people

It's typical Thai economics: Milk your customers TODAY for all they're worth and don't worry about whether they might come back again tomorrow or not. It's such an incomprehensible, short-sighted attitude that it makes me scream.
yes...and don't forget: this latest c.r.a.p. comes from TAT themselves (again) = a most esteemed, professional organisation with a dear love for figures and constant "change mind" attitude

More than once I've had to do a walk around of low cables over sidewalks as a pedestrian, thinking of 2nd road Jomtien. And then there is the broken concrete post about 2/3s up, near Family Mart & SCB bank on beach road. Only thing holding it up (and pulling it down) are the 100s of wires. TIT
recommended: change to the other side of the street

I mostly encounter these shopping Chinese at the 7/11.
don't forget that 7/11 in TH is regarded as being a hi-so outlet: highest prices for the smallest packaging units

Maybe the brakes didn't work ...
Perhaps the driver slept ...
Perhaps due to a sudden stop due to another car ...

Simply make it compulsory for those hiring motorbikes and doing watersports to purchase appropriate insurance when they hire the service in question. "attack by animals" ??!! don't know what to think about this one , is it by any chance stray dogs? In which case it is the municipalities job to sort out.
forget about the single stray dog - it is always a wild elephant, wild boar, a python, king cobra, 10 centipedes at a time, sharks, deadly jellyfish and so on...and all this in the middle of Pattaya ... fancy attacks, indeed

What tourists would really like to see is clean water, rubbish free beaches, no traffic jams, less crime and a hassle free holiday. Extra people doesn't quite cut it.
The much-favoured tourists of the year (Indians, Chinese, Russians) were born with all the above qualities, they don't expect else...

still Phuket's beaches are inadequately equipped with lifeguards and safety equipment
no need to do anything about this: In line with the governmental order to return to pristine beaches. Tourists taking a swim are solely at their own risk (and stupidity)

I'll bet there were no skid marks in the road. Also, He probably hit her whilst continuing in a straight line. And without a change in speed before hitting her.
I'll bet the VERY old Swedish woman wouldn't know anything about Thai traffic, wouldn't care either; had bad hearing and VERY bad eye sight. Made the fatal mistake of thinking being in her home country even though she flew 6000 miles to get herself killed by own mistake

VPN helps with geo- blocking. One thing to remember, though: Quite a few sites (banking, TM30, TM6 etc) won't work unless you switch off VPN - no big deal, just has to be remembered...

why doesn't he go for crowd- funding? everybody without proper travel preps, without a plan, without means, without insurance, without brains does this nowadays - and they all succeed and get "rescued by the good internet samaritans"
