... Another tourist that will tell his friend's how wonderful the Land of Smiles is...
dont't blame any country on bloody ignorance about anything financial
-
the bunch of your questions indicates you want to avoid spending money on a professional consultant here in Th., who
would help you with a full start-up model - this is not a very professional way to install a business on cheap, free-of-charge
hearsay recommendations...
-
hopefully they'll get promoted
of course - but then, even in LOS "Peter's Principle" seems to be applied

Out of interest, can anyone NOT on TOT still download?
downloading perfect as ever on CAT CDMA
-
wrapping the box would not help because in BKK airport he would go through the "goods to declare" gate,
wouldn't he? He can of course also chose the gate "nothing to declare" and have fun ...
-
just for a start, google this "rent car driver pattaya", helps a great deal already...
-
definitely YES - unfortunately, I forgot about the location of that shop (shop's name was/is "gimme a brow")
-
a foreigner working on one's own land is not the problem - but the tractor: Do you have a tractor operating / driving licence ??
somebody who envies you about the tractor might take this to a case... special "gaan khaset" licences (operating farming machinery)
have to be obtained for tractors, caterpillers, excavators, combined harvesters, even for the 4-wheeled truck-like Isaan TukTuk

Is that before or after 3G, 3.9G, 4G or whatever G comes next?
I heard that in some areas they prepare for the G-string already

"Meanwhile, domestic tourism will also expand by 3% next year with at least 91 million trips to be made by Thai tourists"
this increasingly is the half-drunk bunch on the roads when heading home for some holiday and, of course, plenty of
government officials, teachers and students who are TAT- induced to aimlessly travel up and down the country

1) will Immigration accept a joint account)
2) or will I have to open a second account in my name only ?

... on the train down to Bangkok although the connection dies completely when you get to within about 1 hour of BKK - I guess CAT do not have the infrastructure and/or the necessary licences to operate in the BKK area
I run an Ovation MC760 on CATs CDMA, gives you true 3g on wireless internet with 1,7 Mbps up on VisaSpeedtest, but:
It only works in 57 provinces! After I came back from BKK some time ago & complained to my Khorat CAT people they
shamefully produced a photostat with the 57 live provinces, the remaining parts are no- licence areas for CAT. As a rough
indication, it works up north and in the south - it does not work in BKK, surrounding provinces incl. Chonburi/Pattaya and
further east. Going to BKK from the north, it blacks out in Saraburi already

Does anyone know of any guest houses or other accommodations along route 226 (between Korat and Buriram)
there is a "Cabbages&Condoms" restaurant (maybe even some rooms to rent) in Chakkarat near to
where you turn left (when coming from Khorat) to Phimai. Even if they are full they will surely help
with info on local accommodation

if it is a new inhouse pump she should contact the supplier to assist. in case of an older, re-located pump
she will contact HomePro or DoHome - not for them to do the job but to recommend a suitable
company.
if it is an outdoors pump (from a well into into the garden or paddies) then any neighbour can fix that

1k baht in penalty...or one year in jail...that is how much the jail-time is worth here?
1k obviously calculated on the quality of food they serve you during that one year in the box...

Greetings, Any members know if there is a VIP bus between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani? If so, what is the Chiang Mai departure time and travel time. Would appreciate any help.
excerpt from http://www.retire-asia.com/lao-travel.shtml:
Buses run between Chiangmai and Udonthani. Road distance is 850 km (520 miles) via Pitsanulok. Daytime and overnight VIP buses (aircon, toilet) run from the Chiangmai Arcade Bus Station, (about 600 baht or $18) to Udon Thani main bus station; continue to Nongkhai and the Mekong bridge by regular bus or minibus. There are also flights between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani

did your cute Thai dog also get a decent cut of your cake?
-
please specify your preferred mode of travel: coach, train, air, rental car or else -
I shall look it up on the internet for you, then
(unless you also had this idea already)

Seems a bit silly to have a curfew for 4 hours a day
they had this in S-Korea from the late 60ties into 1975 (approx.), everything good
'n' evil had to be done before midnight; it simply turns into a habit and standing
exercise

That's the way its done here. Inactive posts means the doghouse.
At least, "inactive post" means no way anymore enjoying all the goodies of
such a post incl. the constant flow of graft funds

... the tourist count is down. Hotels and businesses are reported to be lower than after the tsunami.
now comes the Thai logic to all this: "Because of this grossly deteriorated situation, less arrivals, a
trifle of hotel bookings we are forced to increase our prices now by 30% at least, another 55% beginning
of high season 2010"
-
apparently, you're thinking about a PlanB already ... seems you're not depending on travel partners
or a rented flat or the like: If so, just come here first, check the situation n make an adhoc decision
