  1. This is a big problem . the Thai govt even subsidises the sugar price in Thailand. Thais certainly have a very sweet tooth with even their savory foods having a good dose of sugar.

Every fast food outlet in the UK now has calorie values on the menu. Tell you what it gives you pause for thought about that large fries and coke to go with your big Mac.

Just switching to squash, water or died coke from coke makes a massive differnece to calories in a day, and getting a small child to be be fat can be the differnce of reducing net intake by 200 calories per day.

    The value of a coke.

If you watch the videos I posted above, you probably would not recommend squash or diet coke to anyone and your views on calories would change.

  2. Well, this puts to bed the lie 'we tax alcohol for people's health' bs to bed once and for all, does it not.

Don't know really, a lot of the drinks they are thinking about taxing are unhealthy as well.

Though apart from water and milk everything is, if you ask some nutritionists.

Some would argue milk is unhealthy too.

But that was not the reason I stopped drinking milk.

I haven't drunk milk in 3 years as I believe my body was not designed for animal milk that was designed for a baby animal.

Regarding sugar and fructose based drinks. They do as much damage to the liver as alcohol does. And I am all for taxing them, but those in charge wouldn't be doing the taxation for health reasons.

And if anyone doubts the dangers of the garbage in sodas watch these two seminars from Dr. Robert Lustig.

  3. Meanwhile, Worapan Tuwichien - the village head of Moo 1 of Tambon Koh Tao, and the owner of a bar on the island - said he planned to hold another press conference to call for justice after his son was implicated in the case by social-media users.

Oh, so he too doesn't believe the two Burmese patsies are guilty. Very nice of him to join the fight.

  4. The general consensus in the west with the media, feminazis and ignorant buffoons is this doesn't exist. Only tourists from western countries go with prostitutes in their eyes. They never even consider the domestic market never mind talk about it.

I remember reading a few years ago that the estimate from the UN was around 450,000 Thai men use a prostitute every day in Thailand.

  5. But it is not Thai 'culture' to eat dog meat. It's a pocket of hillbillies in the north who have also found a market in neighbouring countries for the dog meat.

So what do you think of this that happened in China? I assume you are on the thieves side? (No idea how to do a spoiler option to hide the photo from the faint hearted).

Scum poisoning pets and stealing them for food, then vigilante justice. Maybe it will happen in Thailand soon.

Contrary to what people outside China perceive, most people in China would not eat dog. Just like most people in Thailand would probably be disgusted at the thought of eating dogs.

  6. I find it interesting that you live in the 'boondocks' of Buriram and have recently seen the dog catcher trucks operating in your area. I too live in the Buriram boondocks, so please next time you seen one of these vehicles, instead of confronting the driver could you direct him to my place. You see these vehicles haven't operated here for over two years now, and my village is over-run with unwanted, diseased, dirty, dangerous dogs. Thank you.

Or you could get off your 4rse, dip into your Chang money, and help set up a neutering program, for the benefit of villagers AND the dog population. But you won't will you. You'll just spout bile on this forum. Well done.

Pigs are not smarter than dogs. There is no test to confirm this. One can easily say that dogs are smarter than pigs. A tree is smarter than a rock.

A friend of mine was brought up on a farm. He had two dogs and they took in a piglet. On day one, the piglet watched the dogs command of sit then were given a food treat.

On day two when he said sit, the two dogs and the pig sat and waiting for their treat. The pig had figured out sitting would result in food.

The pig is the 6th smartest animal:

  7. I do not judge what meat people choose to eat. The issue is of cruelty. ... if they can slaughter dogs humanely then nobody should condemn another person's right to eat just another source of protein.

as a dog lover for over 60yrs.it doesnt bother me what people eat.

BUT ITS THE WAY THEY ARE BUTCHERED.

bringing in a law banning the sale of dog meat will acheive NOTHING as nobody abide's by any law in thailand.

let them be put to sleep humanely.

Is there anywhere in Thailand where animals are 'humanely killed' (a misnomer in itself, if you have seen the terror in an animals eyes before the bolt gun)?

Even if laws were brought in, the country bumpkins would still be slashing throats, beating the living crap, throwing live animals in boiling pans and skinning animals alive. And the dog catchers will still be stealing pets.

  8. A neighbour was pressed by his Chiang Rai wife to attend an uncle's funeral some years back. He told me he was sickened and surprised to see one of the family call one of the family dogs and casually slit it's throat to throw on the barbecue. He hasn't been back since. Barbarians!bah.gif

Its a cultural difference no different from them probably being disgusted that you eat beef.

It is meat and that is all there is to it.

Do you not find it equally disturbing that everything that you like to feast on has to lose its life to feed you?

No I am not a veggie, I am a meat lover, I just don't sit in judgement of others.

I assume you think live monkey brain is OK? It is eaten in secret in back street establishments in the GuangDong region of China.

A friend had the misfortunme of witnessing the barbarity first hand.

Monkey brought in, tied under a table with a hole in it for its head. Belles attached to the monkey's legs and arms.

Skull cut open. Feast starts. It ends when the bells stop ringing as the monkey is dead.

What about tigers? Last year Chinese businessmen were eating tigers in China (illegally).

  9. Eleven countries around the globe still eat dog meat. They are: China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Polynesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Arctic and two cantons in Switzerland. https://www.facebook.com/notes/jelena-paunović/11-countries-which-still-eat-dog-meat/10151059019076930 I guess you can add Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to that list.
Dog meat has been illegal in Taiwan for over 13 years.
However, some hicks in the south of the island know the dodgy restaurants that serve it under the table.
Most people in Taiwan would be aghast at the idea of eating what could be your pet, guide dog, drug sniffing dog, police dog or disaster rescue dog.
  10. Having eaten dog (in the Philippines) a half dozen times, I found it was quite tasty, but there they were well bred and well cared for dogs and raised for that specific purpose. That resulted in a much better product that what I've seen on offer in Thailand (in Sakon Nakhon).

I wouldn't eat any stolen animal, someone's pet, and certainly not any diseased soi dog.

When properly raised and prepared, it's a welcome addition to the dining table.

I do realize many people are squeamish about it, but others are the same about other animals such as rabbit, squirrel, and deer. And others turn away from other animals for religious reasons such as pork or beef.

    To each his own.

As the saying goes, if God had intended us not to eat animal meat, he wouldn't have made it taste so good.licklips.giflicklips.giflicklips.gif

    .

    .

Have you tried live monkey brain? It is on the menu in the Canton region of China? I know someone who witnessed that and he said it was insane.

I believe all animals that are raised for food, should be treated with the utmost respect, their lives should be a celebration and they should be well fed looked after. But that is impossible especially with Mega farm polluting hell holes whose owners only care about making a killing (pun intended).

Regarding your God line. If we were meant to eat meat, why do we have to cook it? We are the only animal that has to eat meat cooked.
