Regarding the Junta doing things, I think some actions have been positive, but when you read about the closed down Phuket Jet ski owners being allowed to operate again because they told the Junta they would have to turn to crime (a paradox?), one has to wonder what the hell is going on?
Which is why I don't hold much hope for change regarding the ivory trade.

I am interested to know when the laws of a work permit and hiring 4 Thai nationals was introduced?
It sounds like well before the internet and before online 'one man bands'.
They would generate more from taxes if they updated their laws and took into account internet and e-commerce.
These people could go legit and pay taxes.

Saw this on Stickman:
I spend maybe 30% of the year in Thailand between jobs and never more than 2 weeks at a time. I have always had 30-day visa waiver stamps with no problem. That is until this Saturday when the lady at Immigration asked me why I had no visa. I explained it was because I stay here to holiday between jobs. She wasn't happy and asked for evidence that I worked abroad. I tried to argue that it was obvious that as I spent 70% of my time in Saudi, Japan, Indonesia etc, that I worked overseas, but she wasn't convinced. Luckily, I had a pay slip from my Emirati employer in my bag, which seemed to push me over the line. She then said that I can't keep using 30-day waivers and I have to get a proper visa. No reason was given. If this is how it is, then the thou$and$ I contribute to Thailand every month will be spent in Vietnam or Cambodia. I guess it's my fault for choosing to spend my free time in Thailand. -
I sent for new passport and the stamps were transferred at Suvarnabhumi. It was not a concern of the passport issuing authority.
I take it you are not from the UK?
Their requirements for proof of an address expect people to be 'legit'.

Has anyone experienced their passports never arriving in Thailand?
Much preferred the pick up at the consulate days.

I paid this place a visit on my last trip to Bangkok.
Wat Samian Nari SchoolChatuchakจังหวัด กรุงเทพมหานคร, Thailand+66 2 589 4936
They have cows in the temple grounds. The cows once belonged to farmers that didn't want to sell them to be butchered.

She has no respect for you. When a woman has no respect, the man may as well be a door stop.
Only a chump would give her a second chance.
You did the right thing.

I live not far from Pattaya station and pass it most days ,difficult to get to without transport and to be honest very rarely see a train
ps very little to see in sri racha ,except robinsons.mind you the grounds of assumption school are nice ,our son used to go there.
That's the problem, you can't get to the station without transport, and if you have transport you don't need the train. TIT
I laugh when I see the sign on Suk pointing travellers toward the 'International Airport' at U-Tapao. Must be one hell of departure lounge.

Was it pressed into service when the Red Shirts blockaded Swampy ?
No, it was the other idiots in yellow who camped out there.

Non of the three girls knew what metal was before their management conceived this idea.
They are manufactured, they don't write the songs and they may as well be One Direction.
If you enjoy watching three girls dressed like they do basically singing karaoke - you are nuts.

When in Thailand, I will stick to imported water thanks.

I find the people that go to these animal shows simple minded.
Most humans can not live without animals in their lives. Whether it is eating them, using them for work, using them for entertainment, using them for experiments, using their body parts or locking them up to be looked at, we really are barbaric to our fellow earthlings.
Every animal on the planet would survive without humans.

What is her background?
I saw one small photo of her head and it looked like a mugshot. The height scale thing was behind her - the ones you see in mugshots.

The elephant will become extinct unless the greedy are stopped.
In a zoo for every 2 elephants, only one calf is born. They don't breed well in captivity. I wonder if the elephants above are similarly affected like that?
The first move should be to ban ivory trading, possession etc. in Thailand. Yet again the powers that be do nothing when Thailand is a hub for ivory smugglers and the scum that profit from it.
And to think it is supposedly revered in Thailand.

I would not reapply at that visa office with a new passport.
I would go somewhere else with a new passport (but don't apply for the passport in that country as you will have no entry stamp (the old one would have it)) and the Thai staff may notice and know you have a new passport and do some background checks.

I am curious as to who stole his possessions?
-
I am curious which countries have the largest amount of visa runners? Laos, Cambodia, Burma?

Did anyone see the video of the Thai student firing insults at a White teacher in Thai?
It went viral and was reported by some media. Calling her a monitor lizard etc. It seemed she couldn't understand Thai.

If she was from the NE and poor, would the obligatory clouded out face with body have been published along with his and his passport image?

So will they be rounding up the homeless foreigners and deporting them now? I can't see it.

I spent ten days in Thailand in Feb 2014. Next week I return for ten days.
So, some are suggesting (from previous examples and scenarios) I could be refused entry using visa exempt and I should apply for a tourist visa?
-
The OP stayed two to three days in KL and was denied.
How long exactly is the period one must be out of the country so it is not classed as back to back?
Wouldn't the example here mean if you were out 3 days or 6 months it would still be back to back?
Do you have to apply for a visa at a consulate between visa exempt?
I saw the figures for arrivals in Thailand earlier. How many arrivals are visa runners or not actual tourists? After this crackdown, it will be interesting to see the figures - showing a drop in arrival numbers.

They will apparently make a public announcement on this on Thursday.

On the Urban Nomads travel insurance site, there is some info:
Now’s the time to go and read your policy documents because it depends on where you're from and which underwriter covers you (sorry, it's complicated). However, generally - Military coups are a general exclusion (we'll explain that below) – which means anything that happens to you because of the coup IS NOT COVERED, but everything else IS as normal.
So, fall over and break a leg – you’re covered. Miss a flight because the public transport system is closed – sorry, not covered.
Your bag gets stolen from your hotel – no change to your cover. Your hotel is locked down by the military and you have to pay to move to a new one – again, not covered.

I read this here:
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced that it is teaming up with several insurance companies to provide travel insurance. Apparently this will begin on July 15th - just 650 baht for coverage of up to 1 million baht. It will be promoted through TAT's 27 offices worldwide.
Does anyone know anymore or have an info on it?
There is nothing I can see on their website.
As Thailand is in a state of Martial law, most insurance for tourists is invalid (but the companies don't mind selling it and not telling their customers directly it is useless), this looks like a viable option - if you know what it covers though.
Surely if they offered it at airports too, it would generate more sales.

I don't frequent them, but I was informed they (as well as street restaurants) have been forced to close by the authorities on Sukumvit near Nana.
Will it happen all around the city?
