    Tender updates:

    1) MRT Orange line west ext (13.4km) - spacer.png

Interestingly, the bridge and road to the West of Siriraj Hospital has been radically transformed over the last 2 years. The bridge got widened and a bridge was built on top of the bridge (!) to alleviate the extraordinary commuter traffic congestion in that area.

But it looks like they decided to not allow the construction worksite to go to waste for the future Orange Line, so below the bridge on the South side, in addition to a new entry-road, they curved a road near the old rail track. This odd curved spot of the road seems to be one future entry/exit point for Siriraj underground station.

That is for counter K for extension of stay at MTT not for 90 day reporting and etc.

    See the announcement here. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/announcementcounter-k/

Have you considered doing your reports by mail?

I have never done the postal option despite doing this 10 + years. The paperwork and posting look too challenging now. I have no easy access to a photocopier or a printer. Even if I could get to a photocopier I'd then have to get to an open post office. The whole thing repels me.

Over the years, they've had 90 days right on the MRT line and there was even one year where they had an immigration bureau on Khao San. I've always--like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park-- "found a way".

  3. So because of this "overstay" error in their system I'll be heading to ChaengWattana's 'IMPACT 90 days' branch in the middle of nowhere.

But I've just been told it limits numbers to 300 per day. I normally head in during the afternoon when things are usually much more quiet. Obviously that becomes risky if the queue is from the morning. Can anyone positively confirm this? That number does not seem enough (a mere 1,500 a week for the entire of Bangkok...).

    Thanks.

  4. The Thai government is actually wanting to mix vaccines because of the high efficacy levels. You can see from this quote from an expert that the 2 doses of Sinovac followed by 1 AZ is incredibly effective.

"...those inoculated with two doses of Sinovac and one dose of AstraZeneca have the highest immunity levels against the Delta variant (271.17), followed by two doses of AstraZeneca (76.52).

Those inoculated with two doses of Sinovac and one dose of Sinopharm have immunity levels at 61.26, while only two doses of Sinovac have the least (24.31)."

Your problem is timing the jabs.

Two AZs in a row should be 12 weeks apart by Thai guidelines. 2 Pfizer jabs should be 3 weeks apart. I've not seen any recommendations for Moderna because it is private hospitals only so it was not anticipated it'd be mixed by those seeking vaccines. As you can see, if you "go DIY" you must be careful and well researched.

I did get an extension of stay since my last report, so I suppose that might be the reason. I'm in the 15 day window, so I'll keep trying until Day 0. If it doesn't correct, I'll enjoy the 4 hour trip to and from immigration.

I just checked using the App and they do - wrongly- think I'm overstayed. Infuriating. And now I'll be punished for their incompetence.

  6. Looks like it's down again. I tried three different browser types and, as usual, carefully inputted the info which has worked countless times in the past. The problem is the site. This pop up occurs after submitting page 1. I've not seen this before. If you press the button, it simply returns to page 1. This happens on all the browser types I used. The immigration for my area is Bangkok.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am in Thailand, I am not using VPN etc etc.

  7. I believe that if there is a change of address, even if within the same Immigration Division area (Div. 1), then the 90 days online is not possible (apparently it will be rejected and you are told to go in person to Immigration)

...but if you leave the country and come back in (using a re-entry permit on a non-O extension) then obviously there are a few details that are changed (e.g. the arrival card no. and the date of arrival in Thailand). So even this situation would an address change still not be allowed online? I see this as conceptually distinct, since by arriving 'afresh' you are providing an address for the 'first' time (after all, the clock starts ticking again from zero from the moment you land off the plane).

...If no, and I cannot use the online system, then can I mail it in? If I mail it:

-will I need to provide the last 90 days receipt, which has long since expired since I have left the country a couple of times since last doing one?

    - will I need to send some proof of address change?

(what then is the difference between mailing it and doing it online? Is it just with one you need to sign your name?)

I am assuming in Bangkok Div .1 immigration they don't require the separate change of address TM form. The Immigration must already 'know' my new address since it was on the two arrival cards (TM7?), and on the TM30 done after both arrivals, and in my non-O extension application.

    Please assist. Thanks!

  8. The shocking disappearance of Waves from 7/11 across all of Bangkok is troubling. What next? No more food and drinks!?

They managed to addict me to chewing gum for the first time in my life, and now they're gone.

Has anyone located an alternate source for them? I ask this out of sheer desperation. This is my number 1 concern.

Don't try to change the topic. We must stay laser-focused on this until it is resolved.

  9. Quote

(free) MRT extension to Tha Phra on the Thonburi side of the river.

When will it be fully operational? (is it closing at 4pm everyday currently?)

The Stations are marked on Google Maps but not the train line. When will google mark out the line? (you can see on this map that the current blue line is clearly shown in blue up to Hua Lamphong)

  10. For one of them, it was the immigration office to the east of Chaeng Wattana. I'm not sure what that is. I'm unsure of the other person.

They were insistent it was a TM28. Since both were staying in serviced apartments, so the owner/administrator would be the TM30. The fine was 800 baht for one. He showed me the form and it was the same as a traffic offence fine (it said something like a "delay in informing" in Thai). I'm afraid I didn't get enough details on the other. I'm trying to get them to take a photo of their respective fines and send them to me.

My personal concern is with Chaeng Wattana . Any news on them?

  11. The TM28 for change of address (not the TM30 for the possessor of the property to inform immigration of alien at their address) has never been seriously enforced. Immigration always seemed to accept the notice on the same day as a 90 day notification.

However, I've now heard two cases of criminal fines for a couple of days late in informing (i.e. they informed on the day of their 90 days notification). The fines were described as 'processing fees' but they received and showed me a criminal fine slip. Nothing was entered on their passports.

    What is going on?

I'm quite jumpy about this since I moved a long time ago but because I am popping in and out of the country (this removes the requirement of the 90 day and starts the clock ticking on a fresh 90 day upon arrival back in Thailand) I won't be informing them of my address change until a 90 day notification sometime in November (having moved way back in January).

This apparent new crackdown reminds me of the 90 notification crackdown that started around 15 years back. Before then, Immigration ignored the 90 day requirement.
